The weather these past few days were perfect. It was neither too hot nor too cold. It was perfect for a mighty cat like Usha. So, Usha’s days were spent just as usual: daydreaming about the lovely Lady Bunny (he can’t really wait to meet her again soon!), visiting (read: annoying the hell out of) the nearby farmer, who humans knew as Mac, playing with Mac’s newest golden fur dog, Mr. Rubber, etc. The pretty ordinary but exciting stuff.

He couldn’t help but realize that he could remember Farmer Mac’s name, but he could not remember his dear companion’s name. What was his name? Female human used to call him with…

“Jai!” He exclaimed, which was not more than a simple meow. “Right. That one is Jai. The girl is Mewria, and the old man is umm…” He didn’t remember. That grandpa’s name started with bee sound.

“Hmm… I wonder where the old man is. I suddenly missed him.&rdqu

Usha stood up and leapt to the counter. “Hm? Are you done with the milk?” Miria asked. He ignored her and went to the window. Then he walked up to the window and just stood there, looking outside. All these gloomy feelings had been stored since he had not felt lonely, yet. But after Madam Doggie died, and Jai had not been here for quite a while, now… He’s feeling it.The kitten sighed and jumped down the counter, staying close by Miria’s feet, trying to find warmth.“Eh? What is going on with you, Usha?” Miria asked.Usha didn’t answer. Because he also didn’t know why he was being like this. ‘Why is remembering the past, so… Sad and cold?’After a while, he felt bored staying by her feet, as the warmth on the ground didn’t seem to fit his liking, and jumped back to the window to look outside. But the wind blowing from the window was cold too, so he went back down and stood by her feet again. It was really an odd thing to watch, really. It was unusual for a kitten to go back and forth

The Gori-gori beast was right beside him when he turned his attention back at it. The beasts’ big jaw was wide open and it could easily rip the upper half of his body without much effort. He was just thinking on how to confront the beast head on after he threw the fairy, but when he saw the gorilla in that close distance (really, too close for comfort), his mind was in shambles and the only thing he could possibly think of was just to explode.Thunder surged around him, complying his command and just waited for the right moment to burst out. But, at the same time Jai threw the fairy, he also felt something pulling him down. It was a soft pull at first, but it quickly intensified and he was already falling. However, thanks to that, he could get away from that attack and barely lost his head to that horrifyingly big jaw.The beast flew past him and crashed into the tree right beside him with its jaw. It managed to bite into the tree to stop it from falling. But it scratched the tree a l

When the gorilla got close, Jai said. “Yellow fairy. Move them away.”The yellow fairy nodded and teleported Rina, Raul and Shoru from the area while Kasuga stayed behind Jai.“Are you sure with this?” Kasuga asked Jai while looking at the beast. “It will easily destroy it.”Jai nodded. “It’s fine. It’s just as distraction. And please, stay away from me. I don’t want you getting hurt. You guys too.” Jai took the blue fairies off of him, earning disappointed moans from the little faeries.Kasuga still didn’t quite understand why getting close to him would hurt. As long as he could aim it right, he wouldn’t hurt his friends, right? But he had never been zapped by a voltage, so he wouldn’t comment much about it. He’ll clap a salute for those people who survived Jai’s attack in the tournament. He balled his hands into fist and swayed one of it down while also kicking the ground. An earth wall with the height of around four meters suddenly appeared tens of meters in front of them. The beas

Mika groaned and laid her head on the desk. “Where is my lunch, Gilbert-kuuunn~…”Gilbert smiled nervously. “Please wait a few minutes, Mika-san. I’m sure they’ll be back soon.”“But it’s been an hour…” Mika pouted. “I’m hungry.”Gilbert walked over to her, bringing a can of cookies. “Here. I think the sweet can fill your energy a bit.”Mika took the can and opened it. “You don’t usually bring in these treats…”“Well, it’s been a while since you call me that.” Gilbert smiled.“Oh are you saying that you’re bringing it for me?” Mika smiled, popping one cookie into her mouth.“Kotori-san is rubbing off on you.” He told her, making her smile. “No… I bring it every day. I just don’t share it with anyone.”“Oh you secretly have a sweet tooth!” Mika pointed at him. “Oh my, I know something about the always fake smile Gilbert.”Gilbert frowned. “What is with that nickname?”Mika smiled. “That’s what we make fun of you behind your back.”“Oh? And why are you telling me that?” Gilbert asked.“

Jai ran with the gorilla beast following close behind him. The beast had its jaw wide open to snap in half the puny human in front of it who dared to cross it.Kasuga was worried as he watched the beast running after Jai. The beast had never looked that determined to ravage someone until now. Jai had done something to it that makes it angry, he knew it. And Jai didn’t look like he was scared of the beast at all. If he was scared, Jai wouldn’t have that determined look on his face too.Well, both of them were determined to beat each other. It was just a matter of time and he just have to see who will fall first. But, Kasuga would not just wait and see. He would help and see it together with Jai, the downfall of the Gori-gori beast.Kasuga knelt on the ground and grabbed onto some dirt. He locked in his magic into the ground and focused on the area somewhere around ten to twenty meters from that tree pointed by Jai.“Fairy! Please tell Jai I’m ready whenever he is!” Kasuga said. The distinctive trait of the beast's jaw closing was the sound. The beast made a husky and deep breath-y kind of sound when it was closing in and was about to snap close its jaw.Jai didn't know this at first. It was only an instinct to 'move away!' and 'jump away!'. But every time he heard that, it was always because the beast was about to snap close its jaw. So it became his mark to jump away whenever he heard that behind him.The fairy squeaked when he dodged another clutch from the gorilla. "Fairy, can any of you go and heal Kasuga?""Eh? How about you?" The fairy asked, concerned."I'm–" he dodged the jaw snap right to his front and followed up with a powerful thunder punch to the left side of the beast's face. The beast grunted and paused for a second, stunned. Jai took this opportunity to add the distance between them. He then continued where he left off. "I'm fine."Although his hand felt like it had punched a wall, his thunder enveloped his hand and decreased the pain he shou

In the same forest, a few moments earlier…A dark cloaked figure appeared on one of the ancient tree branches above in a shrivel of black smoke. The person just suddenly appeared. There were no signs of it appearing. No sounds, no a sliver of light, nothing. It just suddenly there.“Tsk.” The figure clicked their tongue. “Where the hell did those kids go? They don’t just disappear like that.”The figure was following the two windlets who were flying through the forest. Well, only one windlet was followed, but there were two of them for some reason. And also because of unknown reason, they just suddenly vanished. Poof. Without a trace. The figure growled lightly. ‘Surely, I had checked the background of these kids. The thunder boy and the windy boy, both of them cannot teleport. They aren’t a high class elemer. So where do they go? Or was it the doing of that other windlet boy?’ The figure referred to the brunette windlet chasing the blonde one.The figure clicked their tongue in dissa

Jai felt something wrapped around his stomach from behind. He immediately looked down to his waist, spotting two smaller sized hands coiling on his waist.‘A kid, obviously. But who is it?’ Jai wondered. This was a baby shower event, so he wasn’t feeling weird if children attend too. The question is, who is this kid?He tried to turn around to look at the hugger, but the kid was hugging him tight. It wouldn’t be hard to push it, but he was reluctant because it’s a kid. He knew there’s nothing he could do but ask.“Oh? Hello? Is there anything you need?” Jai asked with a friendly tone.He could hear giggles, but the kid didn’t answer his question.“Oh are we playing guess?” Jai asked.More giggles.“It’s a boy.” Someone whispered from his left side. A familiar voice yet he could not name.“Hey!” The boy protested. But from that tone alone, Jai could already figure out who it is. So he said. “Hello, Ruta-kun.”The kid let him go and Jai could finally turn around. True, it was Ruta. The

On the day when the baby shower was held, Jai arrived at the place with Baji. The venue is in a mansion in the North Town. Jai hadn’t been in that certain neighbourhood, but he finally understood that the North Town is the place for the riches, and the neighbourhood they were in is probably among the richest. The mansion building is tall, and the garden is so wide. There’s a medium sized pond with two gazebos on the side, and then there’s also a small orchard on the right side of the mansion.Baji leaned in to whisper something. “The party is in the back garden. And keep your mouth shut, please. You’re a famous guy and I don’t want you looking stupid.” Then he leaned back.Jai immediately closed his unconsciously parted lips and recited the plan. He couldn’t, of course, confront an important figure of a clan in a crowded venue. So Baji and Gilbert had made a plan to help him talk alone with Fuuji Fu in the venue. He just have to make sure he could deal with the ‘fans’, though he hoped

It isn’t a doubt that Cynthia was reluctant to share that information with Harris because Jai was there. So Jai proposed to the brunette to re-visit the place later in the day to ask about it.Baji was there when they returned, and Jai immediately told him about the findings he got also to consult about the Fiery Lotus.Baji crossed his arms on his chest and nodded in acknowledgement. “It’s fortunate that a promising lead is finally here. We’re sorry for the late initiative from our part. We should’ve worked harder.”He didn’t think that he would receive an apology from Baji. But it showed that the man is a responsible person. Jai shook his head. “It’s alright. From the start, it was already a scavenger hunt. But do you know anything about either of those?”Baji fixed his seating before he explained. “Well about the Chief of Fuuji, he’s a strict person on males. He’s nice to females, and he’s really into babies. There’s only one male person he had shown his friendly side to in public,

And you want to ask him about Alex?” Darrion asked when they were in the carriage, heading back.Jai narrowed his eyes. “Why aren’t you being straightforward?”“I’m a bit tired from today. There are so many deliveries like yesterday. But ahh… I’m more tired in trying to understand what they say.” Darrion said with nervous smile.Jai forgot that his friend is not adept in Shouha language, it must be hard to work without understanding what anyone is saying.“Sorry.” Jai apologized.Darrion nodded. “It’s fine. Let’s just stick to no name for now, if possible. I… Can’t really erect a barrier right now.”“Sure.” Jai nodded. “The… Family, you know, told me about him. Saying that he is the first person we can ask about Alex. But he has a very high standing, as you’ve listened to me and the father talked about him, so it won’t be easy to talk to him.”“I see. "Sorry if it's too much of me to ask." Jai said."Oh no, no. It's fine. But my mother is not at home though, is that alright?" Yuta asked as he turned to Jai and Darrion behind him."It's alright. It's very sudden after all." Jai said."Alright then. Would tea be alright?" Yuta asked."Yes. It's fine. Thank you." Jai answered.Fu Fuuji is the head chief of one of the notorious Ten Guardian Clans, the Fuuji clan. After leaving the Komatsu’s residence, he was thinking about how to get in touch with this person. And the Akamine clan is the first thing that came into Jai’s mind. While they don’t really owe him a favor, this family is the closest connection that he has to the Fuuji clan, because they’re also one of the Ten Guardian Clans. Also, he knew that it’s not guaranteed that he would get an audience with Fu Fuuji through the Akamine. There’s a possibility that they are enemies with each other. But he would at least try to ask. So here they were, in the Akamine clan’s residence.Yuta

I’m a hunter, not a mercenary. How do you suppose I know these things?”Jai smiled shortly with a shrug. “Maybe? Ah… But this is a major progress in the case. Then he turned around while the other committees went past him, leaving him to deal with the new freshmen batch.“Good morning. My name is Liam. That morning on the day when Jai went to the Komatsu’s house, Alex had already settled in ‘the place’.He wasn’t familiar with the kingdom, as such, he didn’t know where he was taken to.And since he was late, he was grouped with those who were also late. Many eyes stared at him when he entered the room—it was an average room with beds—reserved only for those who arrived late.Apparently, those who arrived first had attended the ceremony and the first phase—and those who were late had to attend on their own. But they would be gathered together after that, and he would be able to meet his roommate. That was what Master Fu said yesterday when he dropped him off. But the old man wasn’t lying. He went through a sleepless night—because there were many others here that he didn’t know and he wasn’t keen on getting surprise attacked in the middle of his sleep. But the night went by uneventfully, fortunately. He and the others were given a tray of scone and tea to start the day. He didn’t eat
