“We apologize. We didn’t know it’s your nest,” Jai said, rubbing at one of the creature’s head. “But I put it back. Nothing is damaged.”
The creature that was standing on his thigh, turned around to see the round things still inside the trunk. It seemed to heave as a sigh before turning around and sitting on his thigh again.
Jai had let the panic one go and they immediately reunited. They rubbed their heads/shells against each other before tip-toeing towards him and Darrion as if thanking them. Then they ran up the fallen bark again before jumping inside the trunk, to the round things. That’s when the boys realized it’s their nest. Since they didn’t see any sort of violence shown by the creatures after that, Jai and Darrion considered them to be harmless.
