It was now weekend and the time for the event. In the letter, it was said that the winners must arrive at the Grand Square by 8 in the morning which means that Jai had to depart at around 6 o’clock from the village due to the distance. The letter also said that they will be accompanied by the King and the royal family after their first round of tour outside the castle walls.
Upon knowing about this, there was a bit of a chaos inside Barun’s humble abode. The commotion mainly came from Miria who was concerned that Jai wouldn’t have ‘decent’ clothes to meet with the king.
“But Miria, I met the king when they announced the winner,” Jai said.
Miria looked at him with a frown in her face, clearly disagreeing with him. “But that’s after you were fighting. Walking up the stage to take your trophy after a fight is an honour. It’s different from this time when you will meet him out of battlefield.”
Since he didn’t want to ruin his clothes with sweat, he took his walk as relaxed as possible. He had thought about this when Miria was making a commotion about his outfit today. So he wanted to at least honor her effort by not making it too wrecked.“Hmm, these clothes are comfortable. It’s light to move around in and it looked good, yet it’s simple,” Jai said to himself as he tried to move his body around. It was tight, but not too tight, it was perfect.Jai heard rustlings somewhere to his left and he turned to look. There were several brown blobs not far ahead, playing by the side of fallen trees with some red blobs. Jai tilted his head. “Are those new slimes? I didn’t know slimes can coexist with each other.”What he guessed wasn’t wrong. Those were actually the mud slimes and the fire slimes. They had finally met each other the day after their encounter with the small white ‘abomination’. App
Apparently, the Minister knew that Jai would be coming early. So he purposefully wrote the letter sent to Jai with one hour earlier than the supposed hour. Jai told him it was rather unnecessary to put one hour early in the letter because he would always depart two hours earlier. The Minister replied that he did that because he wanted Jai to take a rest before they start the tour.Jai chuckled as he lowered his cup. “Yes, but an hour early? I think ten minutes is enough for my legs to recover two hours long walk, sir.”The Minister smiled, swallowing his biscuits. “Aah yes. I think I agree with you on that one. You’re a fighter. Two hours walk is nothing to your well-built body. Still, I prefer my guests comfortable and fresh,” the Minister said with a wink.Jai laughed lightly. “I understand.”The two men enjoyed their tea and snacks for a bit longer before one of the committees, this time a man, approached their
There were three bunny mounts ready in front of the restaurant. The winners had taken their seats in the carriages with four people each. Jai followed Darrion to a carriage, but he ushered him to go to the other one where Torfo and Raka was.“Nope, you’re not sitting here, I’m going to sit with these guys,” Darrion said. Mugen, Bara, and Oki smiled and waved their hands from inside the carriage, as if taunting Jai to make a comment.Jai looked at the other carriages. One carriage had been filled by Ruhan, Mac, Ugi, and the Minister while the other one was filled by Raka and Torfo. Jai wondered if he was supposed to sit with the two, because it seems like it was purposefully made that way.Jai turned to the people in front of him to ask, but Oki had cut him short. “The Minister said so.”Jai blinked and looked at them flatly. “Does he want me to mend my relationship with Torfo or what? I already made up with him. W
“The Flower Meadow is like its name. Its name came from, well, the fact that it is a meadow of flowers! Ehehe!” Bella laughed lightly. They had reached the flower meadow in the South Gate. The bunnies slowed in one side of the road but not stopping, giving the young men time to look around. The calm boys’ carriage was filled with awe and appreciation while in the prankster’s carriage was filled with laughter. While in Jai’s carriage, it was quiet.Jai stared at the colorful flowers with even eyes. Then he stared at the farm not too far ahead in the south. Coming back to this place had reminded him of the time when he was in the race. Had not for the farmers taking their harvest in that time, Jai didn’t know if he would be able to figure out what the answer was. It actually felt surreal that he could figure it out. It was a gamble, of course, but he couldn’t help feeling proud of himself. Because at that time, he did not know an
He was asking himself why Teacher Rissiya joined them in this trip. Was it because they were going to the Greenhouse? That was his first guess, but he could be wrong. But then, why else is she coming along? Not that he complained, just curious.“You must be curious why I joined this trip, boys,” the lady said as she started arranging the flowers on her lap. There was silent as no one had said anything, so Jai took the liberty of the talking.“Indeed. Do you care to explain about it, mam?” Jai asked.Rissiya smiled. “Well, I was just passing by.”Jai sweatdropped. “I thought the reason you said that was because there’s another reason.”Rissiya covered her lips and faked a surprise look. “Oh? Is it?” she asked, her eyes blinking innocently.Vein almost popped on the side of his face. But the lady chuckled. Her smile was very contagious.“The Minister asked me to com
“Madam Rissiya, nice to meet you again,” a short haired young man wearing a blue, scale themed scholar outfit, greeted the beautiful lady. He was wearing a Chinese style outfit, with three-four pants and dark pointed boots. A golden earring of an eagle adorned one of his ear, along with golden brooch the shape of a flower pinned on his left chest.Rissiya smiled sweetly. “Carrola. You called me as I’ve requested of you. My, you dressed up quite nicely,” Rissiya patted his upper arm softly.Carrola smiled and took her hand before kissing the back of it. “Of course. We are no longer in the battlefield.”“Oh you. Battlefield is around us. It just needs a trigger. You know that,” Rissiya grinned, clutching his hand with hers. Her reply made him chuckle. Then he turned to the three young men around her.“Greetings, gentlemen. I believe you remembered me,” Carrola smiled.“Yes. We me
An hour before…“Are you sure about this, sire?” a figure cloaked in black robe and pointy top asked. Its face was as black as the night save for the two shiny circles on the place of its eyes. The voice of this figure was unusual. It was like it was hovering over the border of feminine and masculine, indistinguishable and unknown. The sound of painful shrieks echoed from the tentacled bushes in front of them. Those mandrakes, as they were known as, were sitting on the ground and hugging their own leafy body with their tentacles, shivering as they tried to get away from the light balls that were heating them. But their effort was to no avail as the balls were surrounding them. They whimpered as the balls kept on flying extremely closer to them every few seconds. Intense heat could be felt radiating from the balls, warming up the plant monsters to the point of their natural body water almost dried up.Another cloaked figure watched as the light
“How can Fire Drakes cross into our border? It’s not even that hot in here!” one of the two soldiers exclaimed as they rode their lizards across the plains. The lizards chirped as they ran past the grasses and rocks.“I don’t know. But we have to make sure it’s not bringing more of its friends here,” the other soldier said. “How come the border didn’t tell us anything about this?!”“Man, I’m sure we’re wondering the same thing as the sergeant. That’s why we must hurry to the border to find out about it!” the other soldier replied.“Do you think the sergeant and the others can handle those Fire Drakes?” his friend asked. The other raised his eyebrows in wonderment. “Aren’t those guests we have today are the winners of the competition held by the Minister? They are more than enough help to deal with those pests.”His friend smiled f
