Wind blew gently passed the buildings and the people below. The sun was setting, and it painted the sky with a soft hue of orange, pink, and purple.
Bubbles of light gathered in strings were set in between post lamps in the streets of Aeronvein Castle. Stands for festival were also decorated with lights and other lighting decorations to attract more customers.
The streets were very crowded, and seemed to be more crowded than in the day. There were more stands selling small goods and snacks. Some people were also performing on the streets. They were dancing, performing fighting styles, element controlling... Some were also doing stand up and making people laugh. All of them entertaining passerby, children, and stand workers alike.
In contrary to day time that was very crowded, the Grand Square was not that crowded during night time. People were bustling on the streets rather than the square, since there were more stands now to look at.
Jai stirred the soup slowly. He took a spoon from the dish rack and spooned the soul a bit. He blew it softly before sipping. The taste on his tongue made him frowned. He wasn't a great cook, but he certainly can cook up a dish or two that taste somewhat...okay. In the Before, he might have lived alone and spent his time mostly for work. But that doesn't mean he was too busy to care for his own well-being. He enjoyed good food.Jai took the small salt jar and added a pinch of salt into the pot. He then stirred it once more.Something climbed on Jai's back and settled on his shoulder. The creature watched with interest as Jai stirred the pot."I don't really know what I'm cooking, really. I've never actually made soup with raw ingredients," Jai muttered.A meow echoed in his right ear.Jai shrugged, "I bought my soup from can. They're pre-made, so I just have to heat them up."
Jai took a deep breath, and then he let it out slowly. He then raised his left foot up as well as both of his hands… In the stance of a crane or... Well, like a bird that was flapping its wings. He raised his hands until they made an arch above his head, and then he thrust his fists forward with a shout."Ha!!" Jai shouted."HAIYAA!!" some adorable voices followed afterward.Jai then changed position. He was now facing at the river, and he took another stance. He was kneeling with one foot on the ground and both of his hands were in front of him, with palms facing down. His hands now resembled a praying mantis.Another fist thrust followed after, alongside a shout of 'Ha!' Which then followed by cute echoes of 'Haiya!'.Jai's eye twitched. He turned his attention to the other side of the river. There were around 7 children right there, boys and girls, who were looking at him with curiosity
It was very small. It felt like a soft poke. He tried calling it again, ‘Little lightning?’This time, it felt like a pinch, he could feel it more than the previous one, and the position was in Jai’s left side—a small spot in between his ribs.‘Hello, little lightning?’ Jai greeted.Another pinch. Then the feeling wavered a bit and stayed on Jai’s ribs. The feeling was gradually turning warm. Jai somehow knew that it was responding to him, and that it stayed warm so Jai knew it was still there. Jai tried not to get excited at the sudden respond, but he sure was glad. But he didn’t know what to ask next.‘Uhm… My name is Jai… Do you know that you are inside me?’ Jai asked. There was no response at first, but then he felt the feeling wavered. Jai was confused, he was thinking if the warm spot was as confused as him. He then asked another question, “Uh… Are you a lightning?’The warm s
Jai punched his right fist forward, followed by his left fist. Then he kicked his right foot forward and crouched, before doing an acrobatic front flip.BAM!His right foot landed on the ground with a lightning stomp. It had been 3 hours since Jai continued his training. He almost got the hang of what he could do with his lightning. He kinda guessed about the warm and trickle feeling he felt before the lightning struck out. The trickle feeling he felt was his spark, the lightning, that was coursing through his veins underneath the skin. That was why he felt warmth, because there was electricity stirring his body from the inside. Before he tried the lightning stomp just now, he had a few trials.First, he tried shooting it again from his palm. He managed to do it, but it wasn't as big as the first one, the one when everyone was taken by surprise. He changed to his left hand and shot it again, bu
A ball of light was glowing in the darkness. It was white, with a thin, silver string floating around it. The string was moving rigidly, and slowly. The light ball then visibly twitched, and Jai felt a pinch on his left side."Little lightning?" Jai reflexively asked. The ball of light twitched again and Jai felt a small pinch.Jai smiled, "So it is you..."The ball of light wavered softly, then it floated closer to Jai. Jai reached out to it and it stopped and hovered on his hands. The ball of light started to twitch. It was as if it's trying to say something. Unfortunately, it had no voice. It had no limbs either to draw him anything. The closest thing he could call limb from the light ball was the small rigid string around it. But even that was only circling the ball of light and nothing else.It was still twitching, and Jai felt sorry for
Farmer Mac finished separating the wheat kernels from its stalks. He tied them in a sack before hurling it on a wooden cart along with other wheat kernels, corn, and two big iron jars of milk. He wiped the sweat off his face and turned around.Around 30 meters in front of him, there was a young man with black hair. He was punching a bag of dirt that was tied to a tree branch, so the sack was hanging from it. Farmer Mac saw as the young man gave a spinning kick to the sack and made he sack fall. The young man seemed to have put a big pressure on that kick, because the rope broke and the sack was also in grave condition. Torn from who knows how many hits it had taken, dirt fell out from the sack into the grassy ground under the tree.Farmer Mac watched as the young man flinched and looked at the sack in slight panic and regret. Mac had never seen an element controller before, nor meeting one. But looking at the young man moving around, punching, kicki
Jai checked himself in front of the mirror. He was wearing something like a hakama and a capri like pants, both dark blue in color.A squeal came from behind him and Jai felt embarrassed all of a sudden. He turned around to let the others get a better look."You look so good in it, Jai!" The woman in apron said. She was standing between an old man and a cute girl with amber hair. The old man chuckled while the girl smiled brightly."I didn't think Hans's clothes would fit you so well," The old man said, looking at Jai.The woman laughed, "I'm younger than you by twenty years, Barun. My eyes are as sharp as ever.""We didn't doubt you, Auntie. He looked so fresh in it," The amber girl said while smiling."Oh of course! The clothes I made are always fresh." The woman confidently said. "Would you be a dear and pack the change of clothes, Miria?"
Jai couldn't guess if he was just lucky, or the universe was being kind to him. He had been waiting for this moment since that day he awakened his lightning. But he wasn't interested in beating this guy because he wanted to test out his element control. Instead, he was getting revenge because this was the guy that pushed his benefactor's granddaughter to the ground.Yes. The man in front of him was the thug that had pushed Miria back at the market. Jai was still pissed. The bulky man in front of him tensed up, and with his index finger, he pointed at Jai."You!" The man yelled harshly.Jai raised his eyebrow, “Oh? You remember me?”The man flinched at how calm the young man answered him. That attitude pissed him more above the fear and panic he was already feeling.“How can I forget?! You gave this to me!” The bearded man yelled, pointing to his own face. There was
