Chapter 12 - Mallory
*Prince Devin POV*
“Don’t stop! Right there! Gods, Devin!” The girl screamed and writhed under me as I pounded into her. After my meeting with my father and that damned faerie, I needed a distraction, and this little blond seemed to be the perfect choice to get my mind off of it.
“Be quiet, the entire kingdom doesn’t need to hear you Mallory.” I grunted at her, and dug my fingers into her hips to give myself more leverage. She was leaned over my office desk, and was standing on her toes to attempt to match my height. Gripping the edge of the wood as each thrust rattled the entire structure. Her tanned skin glistening with sweat as she took heavy breaths.
Not only is he sparing that disgusting creature’s life, he’s forcing me to train her. Threatening taking the crown from me if I didn’t do his bidding. If my mother was alive to see this, she would be absolutely beside herself. Although, I doubt that the tiny faerie could even fight a barn cat, let alone lead an army of blood thirsty creatures. She was a trembling mess behind me when I had to rescue her in the dungeons.
Her fearful emerald eyes flashed through my mind, and anger rolled through my veins thinking about what my guards almost did to her. How she pressed herself so close against me that I could smell the faint scent of vanilla coming from her dark hair. Only to see her again on her knees in my father’s throne room, as the guards pressed bruises into the beautiful pale skin of her arms. She had looked like a stolen princess, the long gold dress pulling the gold flecks of her emerald eyes to the surface. I remember barely keeping my temper in check as I saw a small drop of blood fall from her neck caused by the blade Simon had pressed against her throat.
I grunted in frustration as my thoughts betrayed me, and felt Mallory’s legs shake as I pushed deeper into her. She quickly came around me, screaming my name. Her arms gave out, and she laid her bare chest on the hard wood of the desk. I pulled out, and leaned down to pull my pants up, when Mallory turned around and gave me a coy smile.
“Let me help you with this.” She said seductively, and reach out to grab my length, stroking her long nails gently across the sensitive skin. I shook my head at her, and pushed her away from me. Normally I would take her up on the offer, but anger was still boiling in my veins, but I couldn’t figure out if it was from my father, or remembering the terrified little faerie.
“Get back to work Mallory, I can’t have anyone catching you in here.” I adjusted the waistband on my pants, and walked around my desk to sit in the leather chair. She frowned at me, but picked up her underwear off the floor and stepped into them. I picked up a few papers from the desk that she ruffled, and organized them into a neat pile.
“I doubt they even know I’m gone.” Mallory said, as she patted at her maid uniform; attempting to push some of the wrinkles out. “I’m the one who cleans your office anyway, so it wouldn’t matter if anyone saw me leave.” She stepped lightly over to me, and sat on the edge of my desk, straddling her thin legs over my hips. “Come on Dev,” she purred, and reached out to run her nails slowly down my arm. “Take me again.” She looked at me with lustful gray eyes through thick lashes. Honestly, the girl was stunning, but in the end, she was still a maid of the kingdom and would never be the queen she was wishing I would make her.
“Enough, Mallory.” I said, my patience with her starting to wear thin, and she pouted thick lips at me.
“Fine. I’ll see you next time.” She stood up from the desk and walked towards the doors of the office, glancing back at me for a quick second, before slamming them behind her.
I rolled my eyes at her childish antics, and started sifting through the paperwork on my desk. I had recruitment applications to work through, and I handled the entire training, payroll and budget for our military. Now I had to tack on training the little faerie. I put my head in my hands, starting to feel a headache form in the front of my forehead.
Two quick raps on my door let me know that Marcus was here to report to me. My father may have had Simon under his thumb, but Marcus had fought through many battles with me. He was probably one of my closest friends in the castle, and I trusted him with every fiber of my being.
“Come on Marcus.” I said, with my head still in my hands, and heard the door creak open and boots tap across the stone floor. I lifted my head when the door was pushed closed, to find Marcus standing with his hands behind his back, and a small smirk across his face.
“Tough night then, sir?” Marcus said with a small laugh, and I groaned out loud. Usually, he was a man of few words, but did always find the right ones to push my buttons.
“Don’t start Marcus. Tell me what’s going on.” He nodded, but continued to smirk at me, obviously loving my frustration.
“We brought the faerie to the room the king provided, and arrived at 1600. It had already been outfitted with an iron locking mechanism, and the faerie herself had an iron band attached to her left wrist. At 1700 Lady Moira arrived, and entered the room and..” I put my hand up and stopped him.
“What is the world was my cousin doing entering the faeries room?” I asked incredulously, my eyes wide. Moira was known for being kind of a trouble maker, but surely, she truly wasn’t this stupid. I watched as Marcus rubbed the back of his neck, and looked down at the ground. Marcus always had a soft spot for her, and I could tell he didn’t want to give her up that easily.
“Well, Moira, disable the maid who was supposed to get the faerie ready for her trial. The, she may have, well, used herself as a substitute.” Red started to creep up Marcus’ face as he continued to stare at the ground.
“She, disable to maid to dress the faerie?” I asked, and Marcus nodded. I slammed my fists onto my desk, and stood up. “Is she insane!?”
“Well, she said she wanted to help get some information out of the faerie, so when she suggested to hide the maids clothing while she was in the shower..” Marcus said sheepishly, and I raised my hands in defeat.
“That girl is going to be the absolute death of me.” I shook my head, “Marcus I expect better of you than to go along with her foolish plans.” He hung his head in guilt. “Continue, so my idiot cousin Moira entered the room at 1700.”
“She brought her dinner, and exited at 2000. We believe the faerie went to sleep shortly after.” Marcus finished, and I looked down at my watch. It was eleven at night now, so she had been asleep for a couple hours.
“Thank you for the update Marcus.” I shook my head at him, still disappointed in his actions. He let his love for my cousin lead him into foolish decisions.
“I’ll see you in the morning then sir, on the training grounds.” Marcus said, and turned to leave.
“Hold for one minute Marcus.” I reached for a pen and a small slip of paper, scribbling quick words on it before handing it to my solider. “She doesn’t know what time training starts, please slide this under her door about quarter to 0700.” Marcus nodded, and slid the paper into his pocket.
“Captain.” He nodded, and left, closing the door silently behind him. I stood from my desk to pace in front of the window that sat behind it. One of the few habits I had that helped me work out problems in my head. Between the faerie, Moira, and my father, I didn’t know which one was more frustrating at the moment. I clenched and unclenched my fists like I was trying to grasp an invisible thread that would lead me to the answers, but came up with more problems than solutions.
“God damn it!” I yelled and swiped my arm across my desk, knocking papers and files to the floor. I sat back down in the chair, and set my head on the desk, resting my cheek against the cool wood. I felt my eyes begin to get heavy as I sat like that for what seemed like hours, and closed them, not having enough energy to get up and head into my own bedroom. Hoping the light of the office would keep away the dreams of gold and green swirling eyes.
Chapter 13 - Trapped I was woken by light streaming through pale blue sheer curtains. The sunlight bouncing off of the colors, and making the entire room look as though it was underwater. I groaned, and rolled over, pulling the soft covers above my head to block out the brightness that was invading my senses. Warmth surrounded me and the large fluffy pillows molded around my body, if I could, I would happily die in the heaven that was this bed. I was just drifting back off into sleep when two loud bangs sounded on the door, causing me to shoot up out of bed. Heart pounding in my chest. I listened for the normal creaking and grinding of the iron lock shifting, but when it never came, I inched closer to the large wooden door. A small piece of white paper was laying on the stone by the door, obviously slid under through the small gap in a hurry. I picked it up and u
Chapter 14 – Throw a Punch “Let’s go faerie.” Devin said, and turned on his heel to walk towards the blue mats that were placed on the ground. I slowly followed behind him, still seething from being called a disgusting creature. If I had a chance today to punch him in that pretty face, I was going to take it without hesitation. Devin stopped at the first mat, and turned to look at me. “Do you have any fighting experience at all?” he asked, distaste thick in his words. The tension between us thick enough to cut with a knife. “Does fighting for my life against your men count?” I snapped at him, and he rolled his eyes at me, as if to tell me to get over it. His callous response sending my temper bubbling over. I clenched my fists, s
Chapter 15 – A New DevelopmentWe continued to train on the field every morningat seven am. After about two weeks of Devin showing me how to correctly punch, kick, and block; we moved on to simple escape moves from a standing position. Devin was still as intolerable as ever, but the information he has was useful, and I was getting better every day. I was able to get out of a simple wrist grab, and could get someone off me if they grabbed me from behind. Our training became longer, and Devin had actually begun to speak to me humanly, and not as if I was some sort of demon. I still hated him, and he made it clear he was forced to be there, but I actually started to look forward to our time together instead of dreading it. My body was taking nicely to the intense work outs too.In two weeks,I could feel the muscles start to form in my arms and legs. The little belly fat I had was barely noticeable, and my butt had
Chapter 16 - Moira Moira stayed until late into the night, giggling and talking. It was nice to take a night, and just be a normal teenage girl for once. Through it all I almost started to believe that I was some sort of monster, and not just a normal eighteen-year-old.Moira had attempted to teach me how to flirt, even pretending to be some guy with a fake deep voice and everything, but she eventually conceded when I was too embarrassed to look at her. She had patted me on the head, and told me how cute I was. Making my face flush even more than it had been. When she left in the middle of the night, I was exhausted. Showering quickly before jumping into the comfortable bed, and snuggling myself into the soft covers. Whatever was coming, at least I knew I would have her to depend on.I woke the next morning to the usual knock on the door that signaled fifteen
Chapter 17 - SparksMarcus found me still sitting at the immense dining room table, staring at the full plate of food I hadn’t touched. Luckily, Simon was still not around, and Marcus gave me the time to gather myself before taking me back up to the room. Walking in slow comfortable silence instead of pushing me to hurry along. When we arrived, he lifted the large bolt and pushed the door to the room open for me. I went to step inside, but he stopped me with a hand. I turned to look at him, and he placed a large warm hand on my shoulder and gave it a small squeeze. Marcus didn’t seem to be great with feelings, but I gave him a watery smile at the attempt to comfort me. He stepped aside so I could walk into the large bedroom, and he pulled the door closed behind me. As soon as the lock clicked back into place I sprinted to the bathroom and threw up the contents of my stomach into the toilet. Hugging the cool ceramic as
Chapter 18 - TemperDevin helped me stand to my feet, kicking some of the rubble out of our way, as he helped me walk on shaking legs back through the training doors. I lifted my foot to take the first step, but my leg gave out and I tumbled forward; closing my eyes in preparation to hit my face on the hard stone.Large warm hands wrapped around my waist, and lifted me into the air before I could land, and Devin lifted me into his arms; tucking his arms under my knees as he continued to walk up the stairs as if I weighed nothing. I could feel the heat gathering on my cheeks when I opened my eyes and looked up at him. He was staring straight ahead, his blond hair hanging disheveled into his multi-colored eyes.“I-I can walk myself.” I stuttered out, but he ignored me and continued to carry me up the stairs, passing my room on the way down the hall. “Hey, that one’s mine.” I kicked my legs, weakly struggling
Chapter 19 – HeatI struggled against Devin, attempting to twist and pull my arms from his grasp but it was useless. He held firm with one hand wrapped around both my wrists pinning them above my head, and moved his right leg in between mine, pressed his hips down onto me. He dipped his head down, bringing his lips against my cheek, and causing sparks to scatter down my body.“Stop fighting, and calm down.” He whispered into my ear, his hair brushing against my neck as he used his free hand to reach into his pocket. He pulled the iron bracelet out, and reached up to my trapped wrists, locking it into place around my left arm with a loud snap. I winced as the cool and unforgiving metal grazed the thin skin, leaving its usual trail of burns as it slid down my arm. “Take a deep breath Aspen.” The prince mumbled into my cheek. I inhaled deeply, the smell pine and lavender filling my senses, and making me lightheaded.Even when I hated him
Chapter 20 – ReleaseLight filtered through dark curtains as I squinted through half asleep eyes. I couldn’t remember the last time I slept so well. I sighed as I attempted to snuggle myself deeper into the soft cushions, but was met with a tight resistance wrapped around my waist. My eyes fluttered fully open, and I looked down to see a thick muscled arm wrapped around me. My eyes widened, as the fog cleared from my head, and I recounted the events of the night before. I was in Devin’s’ bed. Not only was I in his bed, but he was wrapped around me, holding me tightly to his chest, and legs locked around mine. I shifted, attempting to pull myself out of his arms, but he groaned and pulled me tighter to him, something hard poking into my hip. I felt my face flush, as warmth again started to spread through my body.“Hold still, it’s still early.” He grunted at me, and I froze, heart beating fast as I felt him a
Chapter 56“Witches have been gone for over a hundred years Fern.” Terran spoke first, breaking the tension in the silent room. “They were killed in the wars so many years ago.”“How did they obtain their magic Terran?” My mother challenged, “I know you have some history books in this den of yours.” Terran let out an annoyed growl at her, and shook his head like a dog shaking water out of his fur. The action almost funny if it wasn’t for the seriousness of the situation.“They were normal humans that were gifted magic by the moon. From what I understand, there was no rhyme or reason to it, and sometimes it wasn’t even passed through bloodlines if the child was deemed unworthy.” Callum said, cocking his head to the side in thought.“This is nonsense.” I added, looking between the three of them. “I’ve never done a damn witchy thing in my life. What do witches even do anyway, cast curses at people who glare at them?” I waggled my fingers at Callum, and he jumped back as if I was throwing
Chapter 55 I let out a war cry as I lunged for the women standing in the entryway of the Alpha’s office. Throwing my earth magic out in a quick blast around me, I formed deep trenches between everyone else in the room and the devil I set my sites on. No one was going to get in my way. I heard someone yelling my name, but let it skitter through my brain as I closed in on the brunette. Fingers flying out and wrapping tightly around her thin neck, before slamming her against the wall. She was taller than I was, but I pressed into her just the same, forcing her into the plaster hard enough to send pieces scattering in our wake. It was almost surprising that I didn’t push both of us through the wall with the sheer force I hit her with. I tightened my hand in a bruising grip around her soft skin, snarling like a beast close to her face. Sparks were flying around my fingertips, dancing against the milky color of her neck and I held back the urge to fry her completely. “How dare you.” The
Chapter 54 The Alpha called an emergency meeting with all of us, as well as his closest and most trusted wolves. We met in the safe conference room as the day before, and I tried my best not to think about how Simon and I had defiled was seemed like almost every inch of this room. The thoughts still circling my mind even as the Alpha, and his two men pinned us with fierce glares from across the table. “Do they have any weaknesses? Did they give you a timeline to when they would be here? How many are there?” Terran shot in rapid fire at me, and I tried to answer to the best of my ability, but to be honest, I knew little about the Children except for the short time in their cave, and the couple of visits they so graciously paid me. “Iron is a weakness, just like all Faerie.” I started, and thought about the chilling time Moira had just barely saved my life from the herd of them in the cave. “I was able to kill one with my magic, but I had used ev
Chapter 53 I woke wrapped in Simons body, so entwined that I didn’t know where he started and I ended. We had ended our little encounter in the office three orgasms later, and only after Keagan had awkwardly knocked on the door and told us to find a different room. We had ended up in Simon’s room shortly after, where he tucked me tightly into his body, and we both fell asleep in an exhausted and naked heap. His breath was even and warm against the skin of my neck, as he continued to sleep. He had chosen to leave the following week to meet Marcus at the gate with the two wolves of the Gold Moon Pack, and he needed as much peace as he could get before they began tracking down Moira in the absolute pits of hell. My heart squeezed uncomfortably at the thought of him going into danger without me, the thought of losing another person in my life scratching at the back of my mind. If he failed, I not only lost him, but Marcus and Moira as well. Everything about this was absolutely fucked,
Chapter 52 “We cannot send my pack into a vampire den with absolutely no information, or even knowing if your friend is still alive at this point. I understand that she is your family Keagan, but my hands are tied right now. My top priority is protecting this pack from Ben Avon, and that has proven to be much harder than any of us anticipated.” Terran said firmly, but not without sympathy. We had been at the Gold Moon pack for a week now; gathering strength and speaking to the Alpha about our plans for rescuing our sweet Moira from Alaric and his Night Walker clan. It had been a whirlwind of meetings, greeting the pack members, and finding time to curl up in one of the very large beds that Terran had offered to each of us in his personal home. Everything had come to a head when Marcus was able to get past Devin and Ben Avons’ defenses to send word that he had located the den of the vampires, and was going to begin preparations to move that way. Knowing that he would be going alone
Chapter 51 “Aspen.” His voice was rough, husky. The deep tones scraping against my head like a metal rake. Goosebumps chasing the magic that was wrapping and warping itself around my arms; rearing its head in protection against the monster in front of me. My fight or flight kicked in, and I began to struggle furiously against his arms that were holding me tight to his chest. I could hear my name being screamed repeatedly from behind me, but it was a dull noise as I struggled to get away. “Aspen Stop!” Devin’s voice came out in a strangled order, as I slammed my foot into the ground, forcing my magic down my leg and into the ground. Dust flew out from under my foot, and a booming crack sounded from underneath us. Then we were falling. My entire body pitched forward, and Devin’s arms loosening from around my waist. I pushed his chest away from me, putting distance between us before landing to the ground with a hard thump. My shoulder taking the brunt of the impact, as I landed on my
Chapter 50 – The GateWe travelled in a tight group through the darkening woods; Terran’s pack spread out around us in a defensive circle. Most of their wolves choosing to stick with their fur and teeth, rather than walk on two legs next to us. The few of them that had changed stood close to Terran, surveying every move we made as we walked closely behind the Alpha. Terran had paid them no mind though, and had kept Keagan next to him, speaking in quiet hushed whispers, as if their very presence would disturb the forest itself.“The pack village is only about a mile from here. Normally it’s much faster on four legs.” Terran spared us a glance, and small tilt of his lips. “We should be there in about ten minutes.”I nodded back at him, and he turned towards Keagan, keeping on the conversation that was too quiet for my ears to pick up. “Well,” I started, and looked up towards Simon’s face; his sapphire eyes glancing quickly to mine. “We aren’t dead yet.”I had meant it as a joke, but wa
Chapter 49 – Meet the AlphaWe were surrounded before Keagan’s words had sunk in. Six wolves of varying colors, each one larger than the next one, had moved in to block any chance of escaping.“Thanks for the heads-up” Simon said under his breath. He had pushed me behind him in an effort to place himself between me and the wolves, but failing as two wolves moved in behind me.“I tried, but I was racing wolves who have been allowed to run much longer than I have.” Keagan snapped back at Simon, the irritation in his voice obvious at he back into the two of us to tighten our small circle.“Now is not the time you two.” I growled at both of them. The wolves were tightening their circle, teeth snapping and hair raised as they moved on silent paws towards us.A gray wolf with blue eyes moved in almost close enough to touch my arm, its hot breath fanning across my skin, and causing goosebumps to rise on the base flesh. I flinched back away from it, nerves fluttering through my belly, and my
Chapter 48 – Not an ApologyDarkness has come upon us quickly. We had made it to the line of the Gold Moon pack an hour before sundown, and Simon suggested we wait until morning to go an speak with the Alpha. Not wanting to agree with anything he said, I opposed, but Keagan had agreed with him. Thus, leaving me the odd man out in the decision. We walked about a mile back from line, and tucked ourselves under a thick section of pine trees that had long and spindly branches that brushed against the soft ground. It wasn’t a bed or a hot shower, but it provided some semblance of shelter and coverage from anyone who may happen to be hiking through. I had pushed myself as far from Simon as I could go, placing as much space as I could between us in the small area. Curling myself into a small ball against one of the sappy trunks, and covering myself with a sweatshirt that Keagan had pulled from his backpack. We weren’t able to light a fire, as to not attract the unwanted attention, but I co
