“I hate the way he treats me, but at the same time I understand, everything he’s ever done was for our sake and safety, I just don’t see the same kind of looming threat he is convinced follows us everywhere.” Will ranted much to Cybel’s surprise, it was the first time he spoke of himself and she dare not interrupt, he was still a faceless voice to her, but she felt closer to him.
“He loves you.” She didn’t even have to know his father to know it was true, her own father sometimes made decisions that angered her, but thinking back she realized it was only for her own good, “Parents often see the dangers we are too naive to notice, they know the bad friends and the weaknesses we carry.”
Her voice soothed him and for a second he wondered if this was the same reason
Will’s four paws skidded to a halt even before he saw the arrow whizzing his way, the group of wolves behind him, coming just as much of an abrupt stop. It didn’t take a genius to know they were under attack. “Dad, attack at the northern border.” Will fixed his stance and growled in the direction the arrow came from, he could hear footsteps and the crack of dry leaves and sticks, but they had yet to show themselves. Whoever this was wanted to get their attention. The silver tip of the arrow split the bark of a tree a few feet away and if that’d been him, he would be in a lot of pain right now. “Well, well, if it isn’t the prodigal son.” The hunter finally showed himself dressed in stereotypical black clothing and a long leather coat with the hood up and arms cut off and if Will wasn’t so pissed that the man took a shot at him, he would have laughed at the irony. Six more hunters emerged from the trees as they got closer and Will was quickly coming to realize that they were outnumbe
The hour ticked by at a snail’s pace, the sun was already high in the sky and the morning’s patrol was now a morning tragedy, Max didn’t know how to face his pack. The other three patrol guards were treated for silver poisoning and two out of the three were already sent home, but not before they passed by and gave their good wishes for their hero. “I can’t believe he took out four hunters himself,” Landon mumbled, he was in awe after hearing the recollection, it was similar to the story of him taking out three hunters and coming out unscathed. “I have traveled to a few packs, I have yet to meet a future Alpha as strong as Will.” Azaiah supplied and Max couldn’t help but agree. “When will he be out of surgery?” Serenity wrung her hands together, looking up at them with wide innocent browns. “We don’t know yet honey.” Star answered and turned her furrowed gaze on Max, “How bad were his injuries that they’re taking so long.” “I don’t know, I couldn’t tell with him being in shift.” Ma
Star lifted her weight off the girl giving her enough room to scramble away onto her back, “Luna Star?” Cybel’s eyes widened and her mouth opened and closed, she looked horrified.“What are you doing here, Cybel?” Star was starting to anger.“I am sorry Luna, I didn’t know this was your place, I was brought here by someone, I swear!” She fumbled for an answer and flinched at the way she sounded even to herself, now the Luna would definitely throw her in prison for trespassing.“What do you mean brought here, by who?” Star’s eyes narrowed dangerously.“I don’t know, he wears a hood and only comes in the dark. He did someth
Will’s eyes cracked open, the room around him was too bright to focus, but the sweet scent coming from somewhere in the room caused him to strain his eyes. He couldn’t figure out what it was.“Did someone bring doughnuts and coffee?” Will mumbled and a few chuckles were heard around the room.“Trust my son to ask about donuts and coffee before his eyes are even fully open.” Star rolled her eyes. When he was finally able to focus fully on the room his eyes landed on his parents to his left and to his right was the source of the sweet smell and Will shot up in bed.“Will, be careful.” Will groaned, holding a hand to his bandaged left side, and breathed
“Mom, how do you know this guy?” Will questioned when a handsome guy looking to be in his mid-thirties stepped off the truck. Max was standing beside her with his arms crossed over his chest looking every bit intimidating and completely annoyed with the type of men his woman was acquainted with.“Oh honey, he’s a Cybersecurity Engineer. Ash developed the entire cybersecurity package for the pack and its entities.” Star smiled charmingly and stepped forward to greet him with a hug.“Welcome to the Lockwood pack, Ash.” The grin never left his face.“The pleasure is all mine, Star. I must say I was surprised to hear from you, but you know I can’t say no to you.” Star clapped gleefully and turned to th
William, Cybel, Star, and Maximus descended the stairs of the plane when they landed in Manchester. The chilly air prickled Cybel’s skin, but the surreality of being on another continent won over the discomfort as excitement zipped through her. She wasn’t entirely sure why they suddenly took the trip across the ocean, but she wasn’t complaining, she’d always wanted to travel the world even if this wasn’t quite how she imagined it.“Are you cold?” Will shuffled closer to her itching to drape his arm around her the way his father did to his mother.“A little.” She smiled up at him with reddened cheeks and Will’s hesitation dissolved, pulling her against his side, he couldn’t help but notice how
Cybel frowned deeply at the look on Will’s face, his parents were seated on a couch across from her while he paced from end to end of the private drawing-room.“Is… everything okay?” her eyebrows knitted together as she peaked at the Alpha and Luna, they seemed bothered by something, Will more so than anyone else.“I promised I’d tell you why we are here so here goes.” Will pinned her under his fierce gaze. “The hunter attack of a few days ago wasn’t a random attack, I was the target and we came here to figure out why it is they wanted me specifically. Years ago a prophecy was interpreted that a hunter and a werewolf were to have a child which will result in the order of the world being reset. I am that child.” Max and Star stared at their son with equally surpr
Will shivered, suddenly becoming aware of the icy floor beneath him. Cracking his eyes open, Will noticed the bars beside him, the cell was empty apart from an empty bowl that looked more fit to be a dog bowl than anything else, beyond the bars was another set of steel barricades that didn’t appear to be housing anyone. “Hello? Is anyone there?” He called, feeling more like a college girl in a horror movie than a prisoner. “Save your energy, they’re not coming for you pretty boy.” The girl deadpanned, sarcasm dripping from her voice like venom. “Who are you?” Will inquired, easily ignoring her tone. “A prisoner, duh.” She wasn’t the friendliest person he’s met, but he was glad he wasn’t alone. “Way to state the obvious. I can guess why I’m here, what about you?” he gave up on trying to get her name. “I pissed someone off.” She supplied, much to his surprise. “I’m Will.” He offered and just when he thought she wasn’t going to answer, she spoke. “Kiah.” Will smiled to himself. “
