Scott Anderson looked at the alley he was walking in, already regretting that he had let Lucas and Arden talk him into the situation he was in. Now, he was already getting angry at the entire situation on the ground and he was mostly angry at the human girl, whatever her name was.
He was however happy that the bond had been broken, even though the process had been nothing but pain. Lucas had tied him down like an animal so that his demon side would not take over him. Then, the man had made him gulp down some weird substance that had left a bitter taste in his mouth. He had thought that was all it would entail but if only he knew.It hadn't been more than a minute when the pain had begun. If Scott had thought vomiting due to the human blood was death, whatever Lucas had made him drink was hell. For more than 3 hours, his vampire blood and demon blood fought over domination. It got to a point when Scott had thought death would be a better option compared to what he went through. And it had all been because he had made one stupid mistake of feeding on a human girl whose blood had called out to him and out of sheer hunger, he had obliged. And now, he was expected to live with that same human, steal some of her blood often, so that Lucas can find out the reason why she was poisonous to vampires. He also had to behave like her dog, protecting her from possible danger. This means no vampire should be allowed to drink from her.Scott had also seen flashes of things and places. Some were his memories, the others were a jumble of things that didn't make any sense. After he had calmed down, Lucas had told him the bond-breaking had allowed his memories to merge with that of the human. With how much he loathed humans, he had felt a little compassion for the human girl.If those weird memories had belonged to the human girl, it means she has been through stuff that should be limited only to animals. He felt a little bit sorry for her, knowing that she was going to face even more trouble and danger than she already had. Shortly, her situation would be worse than whatever she had been in before and whatever mess she was in at the moment.Scott got distracted from his thoughts when he heard a hiss. He looked up to see a man staring at him with something akin to anger. He shook his head in annoyance, he didn't have time to humble anyone with his current mood."Just get out of my way, if you want to see the next sunrise," Scott warned the man, showing his fangs.Rather than move, the man came closer, smirking at Scott as he had just handed him the evidence he needed."I almost thought you changed your mind about passing this way, Scott." The man said, his voice dripped with sarcasm.Scott shook his head to clear the anger he felt. So, the man already knew who he was, and yet he wasn't afraid of him. Either the man was looking for vengeance or he's just looking to make a name for himself in the vampire world by trying to defeat Scott like others before him.The man took another step toward Scott and he stopped when he was about two steps away from Scott. He closed his eyes and in the blink of an eye, everywhere became even darker than it already was. Scott knew that the man was out for business and he tried to hold him but just as his hand almost connected to the man's arm, the man disappeared.Teleportation skill.Scott thought to himself, just as he disappeared too.The man reappeared and he began to look around for Scott. Scott willed his claws to grow and he slashed the man in the back with the claws after they appeared. The man howled an animalistic sound and Scott saw wings emerging from his backbone and the man's eyes turned to black instantly.Demon.Scott thought as he took a step back in shock. He had never had an encounter with a demon before, he thought. So, what could be the motive for the man's action? Why would the man be hellbent on fighting him? More than those questions, however, he wondered why a demon would be able to use the teleportation skill.Scott didn't have time to dwell on his thoughts as the man clawed at him with one of his long fingers. Scott dodged, but he wasn't fast enough. The nail scratched him on his belly. He looked down and saw black blood oozing out of the site the nail had connected from. He blamed himself for losing guard and not realizing that he was no longer invisible. While he felt like punishing the man before him for daring to lay even a finger on his body, Scott knew that he wouldn't be able to stop himself until he killed the man. He knew that the man before him realized that little fact too and that was why he was being aggressive. However, Scott thought about giving him another chance to get lost in his sight."You and I have never had an encounter before and I don't want to kill you. So, let's go our separate ways and never meet again," Scott told the man."Indeed, we've never had an encounter before and I sincerely don't have anything against you. But, I've been ordered to kill you." The man replied, throwing himself forward at Scott. Before Scott could blink, the man slashed his left arm open and he growled. He had had enough with the man and despite his angry mood, Scott had been lenient with the demon and he had gotten to the end of his wit. If the man was spotting a fight, then Scott could use him as a way to relieve the stress he had been going through for the past few days."If it's a fight you are looking for, then you came to the right man," Scott told the man, unleashing his vampire powers. With a single thought, he was in the man's head. Scott commanded him to slash himself in the arm, and the demon obeyed immediately. Next, Scott told the man to blind himself. Just as the man was about to obey, he seemed to regain himself and stopped.Impossible. Scott thought to himself. No one has ever blocked him out of their minds before. That could only mean someone was helping the demon secretly. Scott thought again.Scott's right arm burned and he realized he had been slashed again. He made himself invisible and commanded a sword to appear. He slashed the man from his lower belly up to his chest before making himself visible. He saw the man slumped down, but he knew he wouldn't die from such minor wounds. Demons are too thick-skinned to be killed by such a thing. The only thing the wound would succeed in doing to the demons was weakening him temporarily.Scott moved away from his adversary. He knew he had to find somewhere safe before the poison in the wound on his body took root in his entire system. While he wouldn't die, he would be in pain until the poison got neutralized. And while he could resist the sun more than the full-blooded vampires, he could still burn from the high sun at noon. He would also need to feed when he woke up from the injury he got.His vision blurred but Scott shook the dizziness away. Even if he wanted to collapse, it wouldn't be in the presence of the demon. He eyed the wound he gave the demon again and Scott was astonished to realize that the wound he gave the man wasn't healing up as fast as he thought that it would. That could only mean one thing and that was, the demon was a low-level demon. That also meant that someone had to have pushed the man into fighting with him. Hadn't Scott himself had his doubt about the skills of the demon earlier? But who could it be?"Tell me who sent you," Scott asked the demon when he couldn't come up with a name."Someone powerful enough, no one can disobey him." The demon answered with a grunt.Scott considered the reply and realized it had to be true. The demon knew he wasn't a match for him, yet he came to challenge him. That had to mean that whoever ordered him had to be more powerful than Scott. The fact that the person had been able to counter his mind-control on the demon affirmed the fact.It could also be the same person who had injured him when he had been looking for the lost one. But, why was he the target of whoever the powerful person is? As far as he knew, he had never fought with anyone whose power equaled or surpassed that of his own before."Tell me. Is this man a demon or vampire?" Scott asked the demon again."I don't know. No one knows anything about him. He just gives the order and we obey. Failure to do that will result in the death of our families."Scott turned away from the demon, knowing that the demon was just a pawn in the chess game of whoever the player was. The main opponent was Scott himself and he just had to remain low-key until the person was tired of the game."Why? Why didn't you just kill me?" The man asked, pain reflecting in his voice."As I said, you and I are not enemies. But come near me again, and I promise not to spare you," Scott told the man and he finally walked away.By the time he was in front of Alijah's house, his eyes were drooping, his vision already blurred. With the last of his strength, he knocked on her door as hard as he could. As he lost consciousness, he prayed she would at least take him in.Alijah's head throbbed and her whole body ached her. It felt like someone had hammered her entire body with a heavy object like a sledger or even a rock. The way her body felt like was the same with the way one would feel if the body has been carved in different kinds of wound. She also couldn't make sense of all the jumble of thoughts that had passed through her mind. Some of them even felt like memories. Memories that she knew that it didn't belong to her. Why she also had them was a mystery to her at the moment. She had been sleeping when the entire thing started. In only a matter of minutes, she had felt pain and horribleness. Intensed pain that she had wished for death to just take her life away from her so that tormenting could end. Then, the memories or thoughts had started. The memories that she had done everything in her power to stop from ever appearance in her head since they bring along with them, bundles of sadness. She saw her memori
As soon as Evan went away with the blood-stained wools, Alijah sat down on a plastic chair beside the unconscious man. After checking his forehead and making sure that he wasn't burning with fever, she relaxed her tense feature a little. She was still watching to see if there would be any reaction from the man when her stomach growled and she was reminded of the fact that she hadn't had her dinner yet. She got up from where she sat and went into the kitchen to get something to eat. When she got to the kitchen, she rummaged through her stuff and saw that she only had oatmeal and some milk left in the refrigerator. She sighed as she served herself some, knowing that she had no choice. She was almost at the door when she remembered that she hadn't fed her cat, Peace, her dinner yet. Alijah went back and got the cat's plate, poured some of her cat food into it before she picked it up carefully and she returned to the room with it.The cat sat on the white chair her owner had vacated only
The sunlight flickered through the blind, unleashing its ray of anger on Scott Anderson who groaned at the pain and discomfort he felt as the harsh sun burned him up. His blood felt hot and the flesh covering his bones felt as though it had been roasted as barbeque meat for whoever cared for it.He lifted his arm over his face to at least protect his face from getting more burnt than he felt it had. When that action did little to help him out of his predicament, he forced his blue eyes open and sat up. All his body ached and his bones felt stiff, along with his hot blood. To cut the long story short, he felt like he had been crucified without his permission. When the sunlight hit him again, this time a little brighter than before, he turned an angry scowl toward the direction the light came from. The first thing Scott noticed was the poor state of the room he was in.Judging from the faded blind that covered the window, to the faded color of the wall of the room, to the bare floor that
Scott teleported to the screaming woman in front of him without much thought about giving his identity away; something he had been trying to avoid since the moment he opened his eyes in her house. All he had just thought about at that moment was to get her to shut up. When he got to where she was, he slapped a hand over her mouth and indicated the shush tone."Keep quiet, will you?" He asked her in a commanding tone.Alijah heard the automated control tone of someone asking her to keep quiet somewhere in the subconscious of her screaming. When she realized that it was the same man she had run away from, she screamed even louder into his hand which muffled her tone a little. After she had been bitten by that vampire creature at the hospital, the truth had never gotten to her that vampires were creatures that truly exist and not just in the nighttime books. Seeing a man who had reacted the same way that white-haired man did had made her freak out of her usual controlled self. Why wasn't
Alijah got into the kitchen, poured the last of her oatmeal into a bowl, added some milk to it, and made her way back to the room where she had left the stranger and his cat. She shook her head as she realized that the cat she had grown fond of would no longer be hers since the owner would want to go back for his pet when he was leaving. Even if the cat wanted to stay with her, she was sure the man would insist on taking the cat away. She would miss the pet. She had come to rely on the companionship the cat gave her. Now, there would be no one she could talk to and tell all her worries. She would return home to only her furniture and the silence her house provided her with. She sighed as she tried to shoot the depressing thoughts away. She was already used to being alone for most of her life, so returning to that circle again shouldn't be such a hard thing for her.It was a hard thing, she thought. Whether she admitted it out loud or not, whether she thought of it in her mind or she di
Scott waited until he was sure that Alijah was gone completely from his doorstep before he let out the curse that had rested upon the tip of his tongue for a little while."Fuck! I can't believe I let Lucas talk me into this mess." He sighed and looked around at the poor state of the house once again. He could break down and probably murder the girl if he remained in the house, he thought. He agreed with himself that the only thing he could do at that moment was just to leave the house. However, because he didn't know anyone anywhere, he was a little confused about where to go."The lost one." He mumbled to himself and smiled. He would just go out and look around to see if he could spot the lost one he and his sister were looking for a while back.He teleported out of the house to an area without any living thing poking their nose about and breathed in the scent of fresh air. He was just about to step out among the humans when he remembered that he shouldn't have teleported out of the
An alarm blared into the ears of Evan and he stood up from where he sat watching the television. It was an alarm that rang every day. His call alarm to get up and carry out his secret research. He went straight into the small laboratory he had set up in one of the rooms in his house. Of course, no one knew he had such a thing in his home and he was determined to keep it that way. No one should ever find out his secret.Which was what had made him remain at home for the past three nights. He couldn't believe that someone had tailed him when he had gone to treat the little boy. If not for the fact that he could mask his aura, he was sure that the man would have found out that the scent he had followed belonged to the man who had bumped into him.He sighed as he pushed the tiny door open. All he had to do was just to be more careful than he already was, otherwise, his secret would be out and he would be the target of many cruel forces he knew existed. He took his mind off the thought as
As Scott got into his plain new room, he cursed himself because of how he had reacted to the woman and the words he had spoken out of anger. He knew that the words could backfire right back at him if the woman thought deeply about what he said."Maybe I shouldn't have threatened her." He said to himself. "But then the threat did work on making her grant me my wish." He chuckled to himself again. He was still thinking about this when he heard loud blaring sounds of the police van getting closer to the house. When the siren only got closer, he knew trouble was brewing for him."What the!" He exclaimed when he realized that Alijah had done what he had put past her.She had called the police on him."I'll kill that woman and put an end to all these at once!" He screamed into the almost empty room, not caring if the wind carried his voice over to her."Scott, are you there?" Lucas's panicked voice sounded in his head."Yes, I am." He answered back. Then, unable to hold back his emotions, h
Scott's mansion stood in stoic silence, the air heavy with tension. He paced back and forth in the grand living room, his frustration was evident on his face. Memories of the recent events swirled in his mind, igniting the sparks of his anger. Despite Alfred's attempts to console him, Scott couldn't shake the feeling off. Alfred watched Scott, concern etched on his face. "You need to calm down, Scott," Alfred advised, his voice gentle yet firm. "Alijah is safe, hopefully and why are you worried about what she said anyway." Scott shot Alfred a look, his eyes burning with frustration. "She told me to leave her apartment, Alfred. After everything that's happened, she still doesn't get it. I just wanted to protect her," Scott retorted, his voice tinged with resentment. "I understand, but getting worked up won't solve anything. Let's focus on finding a way to keep her safe from this distance" he suggested, trying to reason with Scott. Scott let out a frustrated breath, running a hand
The return to the vampire village was filled with tension. Scott's frustration was visible, evident in the shape of his brow and the tightness of his hands. As they arrived, his anger came to a head. Their bodies were covered in blood, sweat and dirt. No one was around when they came, Renee was still out gathering people to help with the rescue not knowing that they were already back. "Let's go in and get a shower at least. Then we need to get something for Alijah to eat." Alfred said and they all went ahead, walking into the tower. Alijah scrunched by the sight of the opulence she saw before her eyes. Before any other thing could happen, Scott anger took charge. "You should have been more careful, Alijah. This never should have happened," Scott scolded, his voice was filled with so much anger. Alijah's heart sank as she met Scott's gaze, guilt washing over her. "I'm sorry, Scott. I didn't mean for any of this to happen," she replied, her voice filled with regret. "I was just o
Alfred's muscles tensed as he faced off against Victor, his eyes narrowing as he prepared for the battle ahead. "I will ask you one more time, Where is Scott?" he demanded, his voice firm as he kept a wary eye on Victor's movements. Victor smirked, a glint of malice in his eyes. "You'll find out soon enough, and you will join him in his misery." he taunted, his voice dripping with menace. "I don't know who you're talking about but Scott never faces misery, if you keep talking smack about my best friend, you won't have the ability to talk soon enough. " Alfred warned him. "You make me laugh, your master is presently chained up and probably getting the beating that be deserves. " Victor laughed as he talked. Without another word, Alfred lunged forward, his movements swift and precise. The two vampires clashed, their blows echoing through the chamber as they fought with all their strength. Alfred landing consecutive amount to successful punches to Victor. Seeing that he could over
two. Scott and Renee decided to go back to their town, hoping to some news from over there, while Alfred decided to wait behind. The letter reached Alfred through an unconventional way, the vampire that delivered the letter thought he was Scott and he decided to attack him, ending things once and for all. Unfortunately for him, Alfred was not in a good mood, so the delivery vampire got killed. "What do we have here?" Alfred checked the vampire's coat and finds the letter. "Scott needs to see this." He teleported immediately. Alfred arrived at the mansion, the letter clenched tightly in his hand. As he entered the room where Scott was, he found him pacing back and forth, his expression etched with concern and frustration. "Scott, I have something important to show you," Alfred said, his voice grave as he handed the letter to Scott. Scott's eyes scanned the letter quickly, his brow furrowing with concentration. The information of the message was clear, and it didn't take long for
They both get to the apartment, Timothy and Renee, after the encounter with the guy that tried to attack her. They had barely settled in when Renee started to talk. Renee's heart was heavy with pain as she poured out the details of recent events to Timothy. She recounted the fear, anger and resentment that had gripped her since Alijah's disappearance, the relentless worry that strained at her every waking moment. "I just don't know what to do," she admitted, her voice trembling with emotion. "I feel so helpless, like there's nothing I can do to make things right." Timothy listened intently, his expression filled with sympathy and understanding. He knew that Renee was struggling, her effort to cope with feelings of fear and frustration as she faced an uncertain future. "I wish there was something I could do to help," he said softly, his voice gentle and reassuring. "But you know that I can't get involved in this. It's too dangerous. Your brother might kill me." Renee nodded, her
The minutes stretched into hours as Scott paced restlessly in Alijah's apartment, his mind swirling with thoughts of Alijah and the danger she might be facing. He couldn't shake the feeling of unease that gnawed at him, urgency struck through him, like it had been gnawing him ever since. Renee sat at the corner of the room, eating the left over food that Alijah made. She shouldn't eat that but she was doing that. Alfred worked tirelessly at his side, his fingers flying over the keyboard as he sifted through data and scanned surveillance footage in a desperate bid to pinpoint Alijah's location. But despite their best efforts, they still came up empty-handed, no closer to finding her than they had been before. Scott's frustration simmered beneath the surface as he watched Alfred work, his jaw clenched tight with tension. He had to find her, had to bring her back to safety, no matter what it took. But the longer they searched, the more hopeless the situation seemed to become. "I don'
"Ugh!" Scott's anger seemed to have over filled and passed his breaking point. "Scott, you are just going to have to relax. We will get hold of her very soon. We have put a lot of resources into finding her and without any doubt, I know we will." Alfred assured him. He placed a hand on his shoulder but he swatted it away. "Yeah, three days gone, three fucking days, no improvements, and now Renee is missing." Scott started to get aggressive, moving from each end of the study. A slap landed on his face, setting back into his right senses. "Renee isn't missing, she is very strong and she has survived for a mad long time on her own, you need to not be here. Go to the apartment, check around for clues that can help. You are only being a nuisance here and that is distracting me from my work." Alfred told him. "Fuck, that was hard. But you are right, you need me to not be here for this." Scott said. In an instant he teleported back to the apartment. After he had gone. "Damn, how di
Scott experiencing a panic attack, teleported back to the house, checking to see if he missed something. He was in so much of an hurry, panicking as his movements. He moved round the entire house in an instant and he didn't pick up on her trail, smell or any indication left behind. He quickly teleported back to the vampire town where the news of Alijah's disappearance spread like wildfire through the vampire town, sending shockwaves of panic and fear rippling through the community. Scott wasted no time in informing everyone of the situation, his voice filled with urgency and desperation as he pleaded with them to help find her. "We need to find her," he urged, his words echoing in the tense silence of the town square. "She's out there somewhere, in danger, and we can't just sit here and do nothing." "How do you know she is in danger?" A vampire asked. The other vampires agreed, asking Scott if he was actually sure about it. "She is missing, her scent suddenly stopped mid way, a
Black out. Body shifting as she was moved around. Alijah's unconscious body was being move around. Alijah's eyes fluttered open, blinking away the fog of unconsciousness as she slowly regained consciousness. But as her surroundings came into focus, she realized with a jolt of fear that she was not in the safety of her own home or in Scott's arms. Instead, she found herself constrained and imprisoned in a dark, unfamiliar room, her heart pounding in her chest as she struggled against her bonds. She was one a chair, her hands bound by a properly tied rope behind her and so was her legs. Her eyes darted around the room, taking in the sight of the room, trying to look for other captives who were chained and restrained like her but to no avail, all she saw was a bunch of captors. They were human-looking, but there was something off about them, something less than human that sent a shiver down her spine. And then it hit her—they were vampires, just like Scott and his friends, but there
