The sunlight flickered through the blind, unleashing its ray of anger on Scott Anderson who groaned at the pain and discomfort he felt as the harsh sun burned him up. His blood felt hot and the flesh covering his bones felt as though it had been roasted as barbeque meat for whoever cared for it.

He lifted his arm over his face to at least protect his face from getting more burnt than he felt it had. When that action did little to help him out of his predicament, he forced his blue eyes open and sat up. All his body ached and his bones felt stiff, along with his hot blood. To cut the long story short, he felt like he had been crucified without his permission.

When the sunlight hit him again, this time a little brighter than before, he turned an angry scowl toward the direction the light came from. The first thing Scott noticed was the poor state of the room he was in.

Judging from the faded blind that covered the window, to the faded color of the wall of the room, to the bare floor that had no carpet or board to protect one's feet from the cold the concrete floor produced. He turned sideways to look at the bed he was in. When he saw how old the bedspread was, he shot out of the bed with the speed of lightning.

How had he gotten into such a poor house? He looked down on himself and found out that his top was gone and he was left only in his trousers. What exactly had happened to him?

He didn't have enough time to think about that as he first felt his stomach grumble before the hunger pang took him. He held his stomach to keep the pain away but that did little to help. In the blink of an eye, his hair had changed color back to its actual white.

He needed to feed and that too very quickly.

Scott sniffed the air to see if he could smell any humans around. The smell of a type O+ waffled into his nostrils and couldn't help but salivate over how rich-smelling the blood was. As he took the first step to go in search of whoever the blood belonged to, his memory came back in full force and he stopped.

If his guess was right, then he was at that human's house. The one with the poisonous blood. This means that he couldn't make the mistake of feeding from her unless he didn't mind being in a state that was even much worse than he already was. He balanced himself as his knees tried to give way.

No, this wouldn't do, he thought to himself. He was too weak and he needed to feed as fast as he possibly could, otherwise, his true identity would be revealed to that poisonous girl. Also, he had to do it very fast before the girl would even realize that he had woken up and disappeared from the house.

He smelled for humans around, ignoring the O+ he wished he could drink to his heart's content. When he got someone whose smell seemed like they were alone, he smiled. Using the last of his power, he teleported to the human.

Alijah smiled as she helped her cat settle down to another bout of oatmeal. When she was sure that her cat was content with the meal, Alijah also settled herself down and began to take her meal in slow bites. The meal wasn't of any interest to her at the moment. If she was asked what she wanted for lunch, then she wouldn't have minced words and would have declared that she wanted piping hot samosa, some vegetables, and some meat. She didn't care what anyone thought of the meal as long as she could have it.

"But, if only wishes were horses." She sighed. "Then my beggar self would ride on it, right?" She turned to her cat for an answer but the animal merely kept to her meal.

"I probably should start looking for a job." She said, more to herself than to anyone else.

Who could she even talk to in any case except her cat? No one, she thought with a sad smile. Well, maybe also to the unconscious man in her guest room. Right, the unconscious man. Alijah dropped the spoon full of oatmeal and milk that she had almost lifted to her mouth back into the plate.

She stood up and rushed to the room where the man was, her cat tailing behind her. How could she have forgotten about the man since she had last checked up on him the previous night before she went to bed?

Scott teleported back into the room he wished that he could stay away from but knew that he couldn't. First, it would be suspicious to the human girl if an unconscious person got missing suddenly. Secondly, he had to remain behind to ensure that no other vampire found out the secret weapon the woman posed as.

He changed his hair back to black and his eyes to a grey one. He was about to start his inspection of the room when he heard loud footsteps approaching the room. When he smelled the O+ blood, he groaned in hate knowing who was approaching him. He teleported back to the bed and closed his eyes in the pretense that he was still unconscious.

Alijah got to the room and dashed straight to the bed where the man was. When she got there, she began to examine him to see how he was faring. She forced his eyes open like Evan had taught her to check if his pupils were dilated. Then, she checked his temperature, placing her hand on his forehead and his neck. When she was sure that everything was okay, she sat beside him on the bed, with Peace snuggled against her.

"He should be awake any time from now. Don't you think so, Peace?" She asked her cat. In response, the cat merely meowed. "I'll take that as a yes." She chuckled to her cat.

Alijah got up and removed the cover from the man's body. She examined the places where the man had been cut and injured and was amazed to see that the wounds had almost closed up in just two days. She smiled and took the hands of the man back into the cover before covering him up to his belly with the spread.

Scott was in discomfort having someone's hands roaming all over his body. Plus it was not just anyone's hands, it was that of a woman and the woman was also a human; the creatures he hated the most. Much as he would like to slap the hands away and warn her never to get any closer to him, he reined his emotions in.

Even if he didn't hate humans, didn't the woman know that it was wrong for her to keep moving her hands all over a man? Or did she think that the male species' body was made without any emotion? Such that wouldn't allow them to feel anything for such a daring woman?

He took his mind away from the path his thoughts were moving to. One thing he would give to the woman was her heart of kindness and the care she showed to total strangers. Not many humans he knew would do such a thing. If anyone asked Scott, he would tell them that the humans were so much more greedy than the vampires they so much feared but since nobody asked, he would just keep that thought to himself.

Alijah was almost by the door when she found it strange that the man's wound had closed up so fast. She turned around and went back to the man. She removed the cover and began to inspect his wound again, her brown eyes furrowing in confusion. How was that possible? Or were the wounds not as deep as she had imagined them?

Scott cursed inwardly when he felt her hands on him again. When she kept fingering a spot, he knew where her line of thought had strayed to. He also knew that if he didn't do anything about it, she might start thinking that he wasn't as simple as she had first thought. Not left with many options, he flicked his eyes open to stare into her deep brown own. He held the hand that she had directed to one of his eyeballs.

Alijah had been about to check the man's eyes again when she saw his grey eyes bore into hers. Her lips curled into a smile that she directed at him.

"You're awake?" She asked with excitement.

"Yes," Scott answered without emotion.

The scene reminded Alijah of how she had turned into a vampire meal some few days back at the hospital and she shivered. She forced her hand away from the man who held them, rushed away from the bed, and did the only thing that came to her mind.

She screamed her lungs out in fright.

Scott waited until he was sure that Alijah was gone completely from his doorstep before he let out the curse that had rested upon the tip of his tongue for a little while."Fuck! Scott reappeared in the corner of the room to Alijah’s shock. Now that she knew this man was the one that put her in the state she was at the hospital she had little to no sympathy for him whatsoever.“I’ll kill you and you’re gonna regret ever thinking that I could be messed with like that! If not for the doctor, I might have died! Don’t you understand that?”Scott could hardly believe his eyes. Hadn’t he teleported?Yet he had landed right back in the living room when his intentions were to return to his place and let this woman cook off her temper for some time before he approached her again. Why was he not able to teleport?Alijah stepped forward, gritting her teeth when Scott didn’t say a word and simply stared at her with unblinking eyes. They were far too mundane and ordinary to perceive anything beyond their own lives, just like cattle. But at the very least, wouldn’t she be able to understand a simple concept as her life being in danger?“Um,” Alijah spoke up, clearing her throat as she tried to regain her senses. “So, what I’m getting is that you have no intention of leaving here. Or rather, leaving me the hell alone.”She decided to go straight to the point and cut out the talks around her blood. Scott's mansion stood in stoic silence, the air heavy with tension. He paced back and forth in the grand living room, his frustration was evident on his face. Memories of the recent events swirled in his mind, igniting the sparks of his anger. Despite Alfred's attempts to console him, Scott couldn't shake the feeling off. Alfred watched Scott, concern etched on his face. "You need to calm down, Scott," Alfred advised, his voice gentle yet firm. "Alijah is safe, hopefully and why are you worried about what she said anyway." Scott shot Alfred a look, his eyes burning with frustration. "She told me to leave her apartment, Alfred. After everything that's happened, she still doesn't get it. I just wanted to protect her," Scott retorted, his voice tinged with resentment. "I understand, but getting worked up won't solve anything. Let's focus on finding a way to keep her safe from this distance" he suggested, trying to reason with Scott. Scott let out a frustrated breath, running a hand

Then we need to get something for Alijah to eat." Alfred said and they all went ahead, walking into the tower. Alijah scrunched by the sight of the opulence she saw before her eyes. Before any other thing could happen, Scott anger took charge. "You should have been more careful, Alijah. This never should have happened," Scott scolded, his voice was filled with so much anger. Alijah's heart sank as she met Scott's gaze, guilt washing over her. "I'm sorry, Scott. I didn't mean for any of this to happen," she replied, her voice filled with regret. "I was just o

"I don't know who you're talking about but Scott never faces misery, if you keep talking smack about my best friend, you won't have the ability to talk soon enough. " Alfred warned him. The minutes stretched into hours as Scott paced restlessly in Alijah's apartment, his mind swirling with thoughts of Alijah and the danger she might be facing. He couldn't shake the feeling of unease that gnawed at him, urgency struck through him, like it had been gnawing him ever since. Renee sat at the corner of the room, eating the left over food that Alijah made. She shouldn't eat that but she was doing that. Alfred worked tirelessly at his side, his fingers flying over the keyboard as he sifted through data and scanned surveillance footage in a desperate bid to pinpoint Alijah's location. But despite their best efforts, they still came up empty-handed, no closer to finding her than they had been before. Scott's frustration simmered beneath the surface as he watched Alfred work, his jaw clenched tight with tension. He had to find her, had to bring her back to safety, no matter what it took. She was one a chair, her hands bound by a properly tied rope behind her and so was her legs. They were human-looking, but there was something off about them, something less than human that sent a shiver down her spine. And then it hit her—they were vampires, just like Scott and his friends, but there
