Chapter 79: He wasn't the same anymore

"Erix?" I said, trying our link once again since the woods. "Erix?" I repeated. "Please answer me," I begged him. "I need you."

I was greeted with silence just like before, and my heart sank further in my chest. I didn't understand why Erix didn't understand and why he didn't answer me. Was he couldn't hear me or possibly something more? What if he was hurt? What if he was-

No. No. I won't finish that sentence. Erix was still alive. I knew it. I could feel that in my veins. At least that hasn't disappeared yet. That was something I hoped for.

The door to my room opened, and I tensed. I could feel the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. I knew Killian was there like an innocent victim. And I was in the grasp of a madman.

Killian stepped inside, and his eyes raked over me. He didn't speak, just stared. I clenched my arms around my body tighter.

"You look better," Killian finally said.
