“SURPRISE!!!”

Feby was stunned. In front of her stood Sukma and Zaki, younger siblings whom she had not seen for a long time. Sukma, who is now busy with her work as a civil worker, and Zaki, the last time she heard back from overseas, seemed to be carrying a pile of gifts in their hands. However, what made Feby even more surprised was the two little boys who ran up to him with joyful laughter. Who else if not Haikal and Kayla, her children who have been living with Ares, her ex-husband?

“Mama!” squealed Haikal. Their laughter echoed, and instantly Feby's heart melted along with the clear water that pooled in her eyes.

Feby smiled fondly, her eyes beginning to heat up with unstoppable tears. “You guys... are you all here?”

Sukma nodded, patting her sister's shoulder. “Of course, Sis. It's your birthday today. We won't miss the chance to surprise you.”

Zaki smiled mischievously, handing Sukma a bouquet

“How is it?” The question was answered by Feby with a shake of her head. Then she gave a bitter smile while staring at her phone screen that had gone dark.“Ares might... still be in a meeting. So, he hasn’t been reachable all day,” Feby murmured after that.“Are you sure?” asked the woman in front of her now.“Maybe he’s busy with—”“Mom!” Feby cut her off quickly. The middle-aged woman stopped speaking, especially when she saw Feby’s sour face.“Well, I’ll remind you again, don’t expect too much,” she said. After that, the atmosphere went silent as Feby chose to retreat to her room, spilling all the restlessness she had kept inside all alone. The clock showed it was already eleven at night. This meant the man she had been waiting for had finally finished his busy schedule. Feby, who was still awake, quickly approached her bedside table.DING!![“Are you asleep, honey?”]Feby smiled as she read the message. “You told me to wake up, huh?? I’ve been patient for so long!!”Feby’s sobs grew louder. Her right hand, not holding the phone, clenched into a fist. Even her chest was rising and falling with each breath.“I’m sorry. We shouldn’t be arguing like this, Feb. Especially since you’re pregnant,” came the voice from the phone.“Mas, I’m not done talking,” Feby complained, unwilling to accept the situation.“Sayang, it’s already late. You should rest. Remember, our baby is inside there.”Feby’s pleas were in vain. She muttered softly and asked, "How long has Mas Ares been in this city?""You have no right to ask, Feb," the man said coldly. You’re just his mistress.""Shut your mouth, Angga! I'm his wife," Feby retorted, not accepting it. "Even though... the second wife."Angga smirked. "Oh really? The conversation between the women earlier still lingered in Feby's mind. Even when she returned home. No. Ares was not the type of man discussed by those socialites. Her husband was clearly different because he had proven himself by being involved in their marriage, even though it was just a religious one. This was what Feby was trying to instill in her mind now. Until the ringtone interrupted her thoughts in an instant. "Hello, Baby!" Feby greeted with a bright smile. Instantly, Ares' handsome face could hypnotize away her worries.["Sorry, Sweetheart. We won't meet again. Last night, my kids were begging for a bedtime story. I couldn't refuse, right?"] Feby nodded, trying to understand, even though she was still battling with her own heart. "I understand. Besides, meeting up is risky. But... next time, don't send Angga." ["Yeah, sorry. I was worried your mood would worsen since you're pregnant. That's why I had him deliver the necklace. “What does he want?” Feby was clearly upset. Her precious time with Ares was interrupted by a call from the man's first wife. Only then did she realize who she was. As if giving a code that things were still under control.[“Yes, honey. I know.”][“...”][“Yes. That's it. I am busy right now.”] The call for about two minutes ended. Ares breathed a sigh of relief, while Feby still looked angry.“Angry huh, hmm?” Ares gently tweaked the tip of Feby's chin. What time do you have to leave here tomorrow?”“After feeding you breakfast of course.” Ares briefly kissed Feby's open shoulder then rested his head there. A gentle treatment that was certainly able to reduce the sadness in his wife's heart.“There are still about nine hours left until breakfast. Can you accompany me to watch?” asked Feby then.
