This sucked!
I couldn't put in a hit in a battle against Aquant. He just stood in the same place, toying with me. Not one hit. No matter how hard I tried, it was useless. Even when I used the wind to predict his movement, he ended up doing it faster and I kept landing on my ass. Pushing me to the ground could be considered laughable. However, one time, two times, for the entire morning was irritating. Aquant kept evading my moves. Every single one.If this was a real fight, I would have been dead already. I just didn't understand. With the old man, things were different. Yeah, so I always ran away but my skills should be better than this. One hit. That was all I needed.I pushed off the ground. This was it, Marvelon. I could do this. Gramps was far more experienced and vicious. If this was his show, I would have gotten beaten into a pulp right now. And, I spent the majority of my teenage years with that guy. I could hit Aquant. I just hadThings hadn't gotten easier with my training. The pep talk from Mia and Martin helped a little. But, just a little. The training with Torus was even more intense. I stayed on my feet for much longer with each battle. Trust me, it was not an accomplishment to be happy about.Torus's tactics were different from Aquant's. He didn't have the speed but he had so much more. He had the strength and powers to back him up. Thank God for Alex. If it was not for his training with me using those same powers, fighting with Torus would have been with me being a fish exploring land for the first time.Regardless of my efforts to fight back, I was beaten time and time again. Unlike Aquant's thrusts to the ground, Torus's attacks were much harsher. He fed me with kicks, slaps, punches, energy blasts, and my least favorite, time-outs. What were those? Well, it was when my body was held to the ground while a series of pain circulated my system. It was as painful as it sounded.
I went back to my room and thought about the conversation between Aquant and Torus. The actions in my past have scarred my reputation. Those males would never see me as their leader unless I made them. I had to do something. Our next training session had to go differently.I laid in bed, mewling over my next course of action. I could practice by myself and try to do something. It would be better than doing nothing. Still, I couldn't go outside to do it. It could not happen in here either.I stared at the ceiling, trying to come up with something. I had it! I could go to the ancestral world. It would be hard since no one was going to summon me, but I still had a few details on how that worked. If it was one thing the old man made me learn, it was how to travel there by will. I thought they would ban me after failing to be the King they wanted. I hoped they didn't. I needed that place right now.Okay, Marvelon, you got this.I relaxed in bed
Mia and I entered the kitchen to Craig sharing breakfast with Aquant, Torus, and Martin helping him. Without looking over his shoulder, Craig spoke. "Mia, come and help your brother distribute these breakfasts to the guards."Without complaining, Mia shifted right into the action. "Yes, sir."I didn't stop at the kitchen but passed everyone and headed for my room."Aren't you going to eat breakfast?" Craig called out after me."I'm taking a shower first?" I tossed over my shoulder without stopping. It was probably stupid to take a shower before we got into our training session but it would make me more comfortable and relaxed. I had to have a level head when facing those two mermen. I had a feeling things were going to be much harder than before. Craig did shoot an arrow at me when I was not looking. If it was not for that Queen mermaid, I would be a goner.I should be upset that he did such a thing. He was supposed t
"Today's training is going to be different," Craig announced when we were on the beach. "For us to move on, Marvelon needs to know what a true battle looks like. So, for our first session, we will show him what a true royalty defense looks like. I'm not a King but my powers are close. Aquant and Torus will attack me. I will defend myself."Torus and Aquant shared a glance. I was a bit surprised, Craig would get involved. It was strange that he would ask them both to spar with him. Everyone bragged about both mermen. He couldn't be serious about wanting to battle the two men.Craig laughed at the worried look on the men's faces. "Don't worry, I won't release all my powers. After all, this is just a practice match. Besides, you two should be able to take me."Torus scoffed. "We both know you are more powerful than a regular King." He grumbled something else under his breath.Craig lifted a brow. "Don't tell me you are scared."Aqu
Craig excluded me from training for the rest of the day. I was left to be the spectator for the matchup between Aquant and Torus. If they had a problem with the new arrangement, none said anything. They did whatever they were told.Even Craig showed a few of his skills when attacking the two. He claimed he was not giving his hundred percent yet he was able to take down both men with a few counterattacks. His level to theirs was far apart. Still, Torus and Aquant held their own for much longer than most people would have. The trick was they never struck an attack until they were certain it would hit. Before that, they evaded Craig. Even so, he managed to calculate their movement and struck accordingly. In the end, the two men lost. It was a beautiful sight. Craig mentioned I would be stronger than him once I got my true powers. I doubt that. He was too good. Half his powers brought destruction on two of the most powerful men in the ocean. I couldn't imagine what
My executives got me dressed in my attire within record time. If it was one thing about my people, they were efficient. When I got to Antarctica, it was a relief to know that thousands of Southernians were able to escape the horrible onslaught of our city. Most of them fled to other Kingdoms. Prince Mitchalus has been sending men to correspond with the other Kings to take a census of how many were alive and out there. He also decided with the help of the Antarcticans to expand the City, making room for my people. It was a generous offer. I guess Prince Mitchalus had no choice. I had to be his Queen. This power thing was getting on top of my nerves. But, he was my mate. I had to do this for my people. The doorkeepers announced the arrival of the head executive. She swam inside the chamber. "It's about to start, Your Highness."I nodded and one of my executives placed my crown on my head. It was a pity my crown was not going to be the design of my King
The next morning, everyone was back and training sessions resumed. To say I had a great time with Alex and Sophie was an understatement. I forgot how happy and relaxed they made me feel. It was so long that we were friends just enjoying ourselves. I liked that our little team. It was hard being without them. Still, what we shared on that pier rejuvenated and I was ready to face the world. In this case, it was Aquant and Torus.Torus was back to his aloof yet relaxed self. He used fewer harsh words and held his tongue for the most part. It was kind of refreshing. He could switch roles within a blink of an eye without caring. It was a bit intriguing, but once we were not in training I stayed clear of him. It was safe to say he was a bit of a psycho. Anyone who could change demeanor to their liking was never the type to get comfortable with. It was a hard fact that saved me multiple times.Since we were on the topic of chances, I had to say that coronation was eve
Between spending my nights training in the ancestral world and my days with Craig my skills have gotten much better. I was now able to last a longer time in a battle with Torus and Aquant. It was an amazing feeling to see their approval of my improvements. Hell, I was proud of myself. The Sea Witch Queen was not kidding when she said I would regret my decision to have her train me. She was much harder on me than Gramps. On our first session of training, she pitched all of my friends against me. One would have thought that since they were my friends that they would take it easy on me. How wrong that theory was. If anything, they wanted to kill me. They spared me offense in each attack.I was on my ass within the first few seconds. Unlike Craig, the mermaid Queen never allotted me any time to catch my breath. If I was defeated, they were told never to stop until I got right back up. According to her, the enemy was not going to wait for me to get back on my feet.
