Mitch caught me coming and put up his defense. Fel attempted to step in the way, but I got up to them before she could do anything. My fist was sailing by the time she could say stop. Mitch dodged one but my next one connected. He wasn't given a chance to come at me before another of my fists collided with his jaw. He grabbed my shirt and clocked me in the nose.

Pain was a thing of the past. The need to pound him to a pulp was too great.

"Stop it, now!" Fel bellowed.

All the anger from before vanished. I paused, so did Mitch. Fel grabbed my arm and pushed Mitch away from me.

"Go home," she commanded.

His gaze burned with bitterness. Regardless, he turned and stormed off. Fel hauled me away from the small spectators we gathered. We didn't stop until I yanked my arm free from hers.

She turned to me with pleading eyes. "You have to calm down, Prince. You can't act this way in public."

I hated this but she was

Of all the time to go missing, Soph chose now.Damn my fucking friends!I couldn't get anything out of the Guardian. He refused to talk until 'his leader' was awake. I somewhat appreciated that he was looking out for Alex. On the other hand, it was a pain to be waiting.I glanced out over the railing of the balcony. "Tell me this, what do you want with Alex?"The Guardian's black and white eyes scanned the room. "I'm given orders to keep him safe. I'm just here to do my job."I wanted to ask him who gave him this order but held it back. He refused to give me any information before. I

Martin excused himself to help his sister. I couldn't tell if Alex was still here or if he was gone. If I was being honest with myself, it would be nice to have him here. He was my friend, despite what he changed into. It didn't matter where his loyalty lay, he was still Alex to me.I rubbed my forehead and stared at the ocean. If Soph was here, she would know what to do. God, what if Alex was right? That summer all those years ago, I felt betrayed. I hated Soph and Alex for what they did. I hated my Mom even more for sending me away. But in all truth, I was the one to be blamed.Shelly said Soph waited for me. She was sick because I wasn't there. When I returned, my first action was to almost kill my best friend and hurt the one girl I had ever loved. Yes, to anyone outside of this bubble, that was a betrayal."Are you okay?" the princess rested her hand on my arm.I didn't fake a smile. It would be useless. "I don't know. I guess I shoul

I paced outside Shelly's door. The search for Sophie had kept her busy for the past two days. She left before I woke and returned home when I retired to bed. It has been a hectic week. With all that was going on with Alex and the merfolk community, there was not much time to intercept Shelly. She was home early today. This was the only chance I got to come clean. Craig was leaving for the ocean and I wanted to speak to him before he left. Regardless, I owed Shelly first grabs of the truth. She was my Guardian. She deserved it.The thing that bothered me was how she was going to take it. I wasn't too receptive to the idea that my friends kept the truth from me. Shelly might be upset. Still, I couldn't hold out any longer. I had to handle whatever came next.I gathered enough courage and knocked."Come in!" she called out.I pushed the door open. Shelly was seated at her dresser, grooming her hair. She smiled at me through the mir

I spotted Craig before he did me. His appearance was still the same from ten years ago. To a regular folk, he looked like he was in his late twenties. But I knew better. He was far older than that. His personality matched his appearance. He never acted older than he looked. He even had a way to draw all sorts of people to him. He had two sides: the sweet, nice guy; and the powerful merman. He could switch into each mode with ease. It used to intrigue me as a child.Craig walked over to me with a smile. "Youngblood, it's a surprise to see you here."I grinned at the nickname. It had been ages since he called me that. It was the first name of the next 'Baby King'. I used to hate the baby nickname. Back then, I saw myself as a big kid. I used to tell him not to call me that in front of my friends. Especially Sophie. He often found it amusing when I protested. It was annoying but I adored him.I scratched the back of my hair. "Yeah, I wanted t

"Seriously?" I groaned. "Why don't you buy your own fucking stuff. I'm going to start charging you rent."Alex gulped down the last of the Apple juice in the jug. "Oh, you wouldn't do that to your homeless best friend, would you?"Yes, I would if he didn't stop drinking and eating all my damn stuff. Shelly was busy and she couldn't go shopping. If Alex kept this up, I was going to have to do the shopping. Mia and Martin have been occupied with the finishing details of the merfolk community. It was supposed to be open this coming week.We wanted to hold the interviews for the businesses this weekend. Everything should be done by the latest Wednesday. Therefore, everything else was left to me. I was in no mood to go shopping. I have never done it before. I didn't plan on starting now."Of course not," the princess answered for me. I shifted in the vehicle away from Guardian Torus. My voice was low as a whisper. "What? What do you mean Head Guard Aquant is here? Are you sure it's him?"Head Guard Aquant hated humans. He thought they were fragile beings who were too weak and heartless. Not to mention the views he had about Marvelon. There was no way he would come to land. Not now anyway, not when the Kingdom was in danger. He was never one to ignore his duties."How should I know?" Marvelon whisper-yelled. "The freaking man is sitting on my couch with two guards who look like they are about to kill somebody. It doesn't even look like he likes me or my household."My heart skipped a beat.Oh, the sea gods, I hoped he didn't say anything to offend him. Aquant already had an opinion of Marvelon. The King was not our ideal leader but he was trying. Aquant would never see it like that."Okay," I shielded my mouth with my hand. "I'll get there as soon as possible

"Is that popcorn?"It was. They were eating popcorn and chatting. The guards Shelly's boyfriend came with stood by the door like statues. They stared straight ahead into the opposite wall."What are we doing?" Alex asked, slipping in the middle of the girls."We are watching the show," Mia answered, crunching on popcorn. My gaze went in the direction hers was in. "Are you okay?" Aquant settled beside me on the seat overlooking the ocean.I left the question to float around us. Something happened to Marvelon. A weird, unsatisfactory yet sadden emotion emitted from him. I couldn't tell if it was the cause of those dreams he often had. The King was a private person. He would never tell me if I asked. Patience was something I had to learn by being his Guardian. He has been sitting down by the beach for the past two hours. Princess Aqualia and Alexander joined him half an hour ago. It was nice how close they all became. Especially him and the princess. Their relationship has developed so much. I could remember how much they couldn't stand each other.Based on what Head Healer Shin said, I didn't want them to get this close. But Princess Aqua gave me a command. • The Hidden King   Author's Note

Marvelon's story has come to an end. I had so much fun with this story. It has blossomed so much since it started. The first draft was way less complicated than this final piece. The original version was a love story about Aqualia and Marvelon. However, as I wrote, the panster in me came alive. New characters joined the story and the old characters played new parts. Their lives were molded differently. Gosh, most of them probably hate me for all the tribulations I have put them through.Oh, I bet Marvelon does. Aqualia might be. A little. Oh, my gosh, since we are on the subject, I can only imagine what is going through Aquant and Torus's heads. 'All my possessions for the head of the author'. Yep, or maybe they would threaten to find me. Oh, yeah, that's it.Still, they are my babies. Torus is my favorite character in the entire story, and I thoroughly enjoyed the scene where he and Guardian Shelliot sparred in the cave at the Antarctican Manor—yes, I am the psycho who enjoyed reading

"Sorry I'm late, guys," Fel swam into the cave. "Prince Torus has become such a big baby these days."I never thought I would hear those words. Baby and Torus in the same sentence. Though he and Sophia mated, he acted aloof to the entire situation. If it had not been for Sophia and Mitch, I wouldn't have thought the guy would be mated. He was just that kind of asshole. Sophia didn't seem to mind being mated to him or Mitch. I mean, come on, she chased after an ass like me for years. I just wished she would have gotten a better ending rather than Mitch and Torus. After all, she had been through, she deserved so much more.Mitch sighed. "Where is he now?""He's in my chambers, sleeping," Fel answered."What's wrong with him?" I probed, looking for answers.Aqualia's shoulders bounced."He's rejecting his coupling urges," Fel responded. "The more he does it, the more he's losing control. And, a merger losing control is n

My heartbeat pounded in my ears. When the executive stated that the King needed my presence in the King and Queen's quarters, I panicked. Mitchalus has time and time again pointed out he had no interest in sleeping in the same quarters. This was the main reason we avoided this area. It was not meant for us. Which would explain my nervousness.Mitchalus was not the type of person to change his mind out of the blue. He would fight it until I submitted. However, before he did no such thing. Instead, he helped my ruined Kingdom to go under construction. It had to mean he accepted where we were and decided to let me go. For some odd reason, I was heartbroken. It was a much more wrenching feeling than anything else.Mitchalus gave up. It should have made me happy. All I ever wanted was to be rid of this Kingdom and ruled in mine. Now, Mitchalus was giving me the chance to do so and it was like my world was ending.Stupid girly feelings!I had ho

"Are you sure you want to do this, Mom?" I asked as she got ready to leave. It was not that I didn't want her to go. That was the plan, after all. But my visit home was different. There was a tension there that was odd. My house was always a cheery place. It made me feel comfortable and safe. However, when I went home, that calm was gone. It was as if everyone was holding on with a thin line.I couldn't tell if it was me. My relationship with Fel was not too stellar. She was different. No longer was she shy or sweet. She only stuck around because she needed my help to free Craig, and she was not afraid to let me know. Around everyone else, it would appear that she was the perfect mate. Behind the scenes, she was a monster. Too headstrong and determined to do things her way.She couldn't wait to get away from me. The more she rebelled, the more I craved her. I needed help, it was clear with my interest in women. Still, I couldn't help myself. Fel subm

My heart rate went off the charts. A chill ran down my spine. The anger in Fel's eyes had me paralyzed in the spot. This was the first time I have ever seen her and she did not look innocent and shy. The determination and anger were aimed at me. It didn't matter, though. All I wanted was to kiss her. For some strange reason, she was way hotter than before. It could be the aquamarine dress. It was too provocative to be considered such. The majority of her breasts were spilled out from the deep V neck design. The two slits on each of her thighs were enough to keep my eyes on her movements. If that was not enough, the material was thin to invite every heterosexual male. Yet, it was thick enough to hold everything from the viewer. Her hair was down. The crown was a perfect addition to the colors in her hair. Her hair had gotten longer. It swayed from her hip with the wind."Fel," I breathed. She hissed. "How dare you! How dare you!"

"We'll go to see her now," I ordered Amoria.Time waited on no man. I didn't have time to waste. The sooner we found the Seer, the better things were."Aren't you supposed to be resting?" Amoria observed me. "Your mother just died."If I had not been smart and severed my connection to that mermaid, I would have to be resting now. The excruciating pain would have been enough to keep me bedrisen for at least a few days.I pushed from my throne and swam up beside her. "She was no mother of mine. She doesn't deserve that title. I refused to be held back by such a mermaid.""Hmmm." Amoria opened a portal before us. "You really have changed. It's kind of scary. Too bad, I know how to handle crazy bitches."A corner of my mouth twitched at the comment. "Look who's talking? The three guards never moved or said anything. One of them was keeping a secret, yet none of them wanted to talk. I shifted my tail, getting more comfortable. If they thought they would get away with using their powers against Craigleon, they had the next thing coming."Craigleon was the best person in this Kingdom," I admitted. "I'm sure all three of you can agree. He must have helped each of you in one way or another. He helped me in more ways than one. He taught me things my parents were too busy to teach. He was patient and kind. The kind of person that you couldn't help loving."One encounter with my brother changed many lives. He was a beautiful man, inside and out. Mother's masterpiece. It was no secret she loved him more. If he had been born a girl, she would have tossed me aside from the very beginning. Maybe I wouldn't have been born."When I was younger and scared Craigleon was the one who snuck in my chambers and sang to me until I fell a

Everyone bowed at my arrival to the Bedding Cave. This place was essential to our Kingdom. The cave rested beside The Bedding. Once the star has been passed on from one Queen to the next, the previous Queen would be taken to this cave. Here she could relax and pass away in peace. The Bedding is next to it, which helped to rest her shell of a body there once she passed on to the ancestral world.Father was the only one in the Mother Queen chamber. The minute he noticed me, he moved from the chair beside Mother's bed."Fesel, are you okay?" he asked. Though his lips moved, his facial expression held no ounce of concern. If I had not known the other side of my father, his behavior would have fooled me like it did everyone else. However, I knew what he was like as a Father. And, this was not it. The spark he once had was gone. I needed to know what he did that caused him to look this dead. I needed to know the truth. What was going on? This was why I nee

My eyes fluttered open. It took me a while to recall my current situation. I was a Queen, my mother was on the brink of death, and here I was. My heartbeat pounded in my temples. I swung my tail from the bed and sat up."Your Majesty, you are awake," the dark sorcerer rushed to me. "You gave me quite the scare."Oh right. I sought out the dark sorcerer to get rid of all connections to everyone close to me. Mother was on the brink of death and I didn't want to feel that useless heartache. Therefore, I had it all taken away. I shouldn't have to suffer if any of them die. None of them took my pain when I suffered. None of them."I thought you might have died for sure," the dark sorcerer went on. "I warned you about that spell. It is a miracle you are still alive. Breaking a connection with one person is as much stress on your body, much less three people all at once."The pain was excruciating enough to cause me to lose consciousness. I
