No other thoughts consumed my mind but Princess Aqua's. I couldn't help but wonder why she requested my presence. No, there were a hundred reasons why she would want to see me, but was I ready to see her? Heck, no. My actions had been terrible. It was unheard of for a mate to attack the paramour. They lived in harmony. In fact, it was said the mate often felt the connection of the paramour before she coupled with the King.

The thing was I never felt any kind of spiritual connection to Sophia. Yes, I liked her. She was a nice land girl, but that was it. I considered her a friend. There was no foreseeing her and Prince Mitchalus. No instant connection between our beings. Nothing. Even during and after I attacked her, there was nothing. No pain. No love lost. I was empty with nothing but rage.

One could analyze this as a result of Sophia belonging to another. She was never meant to be connected to me. This had to be the reason for my sudden hate for her. It had to be.

Strange.I wasmore than nervous to enter the King'shouse. My mind kept showing me images of him being angry at me or with all three of these people ganging up on me. Despite what my thoughts were, the opposite of them happened. Guardian Shelliot didn't address me but carried on as if I wasn't there. I figured she was still feeling the impact of Princess Aqua dismissing her.Princess Aqua guided me to the room I used to stay in. She retreated to the King's room after. At dinner, he said nothing to me. In fact, he walked past me. Everyone communicated as usual and acted as if I wasn't even present. I guess it should have made me feel relief. However, it made me feel worse. If they didn't address the problem now, then they would do it later when my guard was down. That would be far worse.Unable to sleep, I convinced myself it was wise to speak with Princess Aqua. We needed to have everything out on the table. Only then could we move forward. It was bet

'Was Peter right? What should I do?'Craig allowed the questions from his mate to linger in the air. "Yeah, Peter does have a point. Marvelon may still be a baby, but we are on land. If we constantly lift the baby in our arms, he won't learn how to walk. We have to leave him on the ground for him to learn how to do things on his own. Marvelon has the responsibility of billions of creatures to think about. He doesn't have time to be spoon-fed. The most you can do now is give him the facts and let him make the moves. If he fails, let him know he has you by his side, but don't take the reins for him."A heavy sigh filled the room."Sometimes I wished we had mated," the princess admitted. The pain in her voice was loud and clear. "He wouldn't be going through this. He would have gotten the proper training and grew up among his kind."Craig pulled her closer. "His life would have been worse. If we mated, it would have made us stronger and made our

Princess Aqua and Craig both settled back down. King Marvelon shifted behind me. Attempting to ease his mind, I did the worst thing. I connected our minds, so we could communicate. It was easier than I thought."Are you okay?" I thought. "You can just think what you want to say, I'll hear it. This way your Mom and Craig won't hear us."He didn't respond but jerked a little. It had more to do with the sudden intensity of me invading his mind. It didn't seem he was used to such things. This trick was used by Royals and their subjects close to them. Persons like their personal guards, Guardian, and personal executives. Little did I know I opened our minds to something else."The star harvester has been traversing back and forth on land for the past few weeks," he carried on. "After which, one of her guards came. He hasn't left since. I believe it has a lot to do with what's going on with Alexander."King Marvelon stiffened.

Despite a rough morning, today was not all bad. My spirits were back up. I wasn't back on my high horse but cruising on my feet. After hearing Mom and Craig last night, I decided it was best to shake off this depression and push forward. As the mermaid said, our lives sucked but we couldn't allow it to hold us down. I had a lot of people who were depending on me. We just had to take it one step at a time. With no nightmares last night, I was refreshed. It either had to do with the mermaid in my bed or what I heard earlier in the night. In the morning, Mom walked into my room to find me and the mermaid sleeping together. She didn't seem too happy about it. I couldn't even explain what happened. None of the excuses in my mind didn't implicate me.The mermaid and I were enemies. She got on my nerves. Still, whatever she did last night fogged my emotions. Now, everything was back to normal. I didn't hate her like before but there was no forgiving her for hurting So

The house was empty. Mom was gone and Shelly went to the shelter and the construction site. The mermaid was doing god knows what. It didn't matter to me as long as we weren't in the same room.It has been forever since I have been alone. Who would have thought being okay could be this boring? I didn't.I stretched with a yawn in one of the settees in the living rooms. I peeked through an eyelid just in time to catch Little Miss Mermaid sneaking past me. It wouldn't have been anything if not for the pants and blouse she had on.I raised on the couch."Where do you think you're going?"Sneaking around was just not her. This new course of action set off alarms. She was up to no good. She paused and pivoted on her heels to face me. "Weren't you suppose to be sleeping?""Aren't you supposed to be doing something other than annoy me?" I shot back. She narrowed her eyes at me. Like that was going to help the situat

I pushed Alex's apartment door open. Though his previous curse had seemed like he was behind the door all this time, he wasn't. In fact, the studio-looking apartment was void of him. A poignant stench of stale seaweed bombarded my nostrils. I had to hold my breath in order to shake the nausea it summoned. The place was a far cry from Alex's last condo. A small bed seen in those movies with the prison cell, a bedside table that looked like it had seen better days, and a settee with a blue sheet thrown over it were all the pieces of furniture in the room. A small open kitchen area was near the entrance that looked as if it hadn't been used in ages.Between the moldy carpet on the floor and the peeling paint on the wall, this place looked like a dump. Nonetheless, the room was tidy. The mermaid and I ventured into the room. She closed the door. Though the princess wanted to be in charge, I walked ahead. She no longer complained but followed. I was happy Monday came around. It was the day the twins were supposed to arrive. I had Ciara's class at eleven in the morning and someone had to stay with Alex. He was still in the room. He didn't allow the mermaid or Shelly to visit him. I was the only one who he let in the room. He kept silent most of the time. At other times, he would tell me about this mermaid he was obsessing over. The silence didn't bother me, anyway. I noticed that the scales were kept at bay when he was in the cold. His showers had to be in ice-cold water. The room had to be chilled for him to remain calm. His calmness was a high not even I could understand. He had to stay wet at least for an hour to go through the day without freaking out. It was a good thing the pool was here. The strange part was he couldn't go out in the sun without covering up. Hence, the turtle neck shirt and gloves. Yet, he could swim in his boxers in the sun for hours without getting hurt. It was all intriguing

Fel and Mitch found another seat across the lecture room. Far away from me. It irritated me even more that Fel would take his side. I didn't care what was wrong, she was supposed to sit in her original seat. Yeah, so she knew him before she did me. Whatever. Times changed, I should be her priority.Once the lecture ended, they were the first to leave the room. My other classes were a pain. I didn't hear half of what the professors taught. The way Fel handled the situation replayed in my head. The way she protected him from me. The tenderness towards Mitch grated on my nerves.By the end of my last lecture, I was steaming with rage. It took all my strength to carry out my task for the day. Lucky enough I was able to get Alex's stuff done. His professors weren't too happy but they understood. I needed to get a letter from a doctor to support my implications. It couldn't be too hard to get done. The twin could have that sort out in no time.I pulled int

  • The Hidden King   Author's Note

Marvelon's story has come to an end. I had so much fun with this story. It has blossomed so much since it started. The first draft was way less complicated than this final piece. The original version was a love story about Aqualia and Marvelon. However, as I wrote, the panster in me came alive. New characters joined the story and the old characters played new parts. Their lives were molded differently. Gosh, most of them probably hate me for all the tribulations I have put them through.Oh, I bet Marvelon does. Aqualia might be. A little. Oh, my gosh, since we are on the subject, I can only imagine what is going through Aquant and Torus's heads. 'All my possessions for the head of the author'. Yep, or maybe they would threaten to find me. Oh, yeah, that's it.Still, they are my babies. Torus is my favorite character in the entire story, and I thoroughly enjoyed the scene where he and Guardian Shelliot sparred in the cave at the Antarctican Manor—yes, I am the psycho who enjoyed reading

"Sorry I'm late, guys," Fel swam into the cave. "Prince Torus has become such a big baby these days."I never thought I would hear those words. Baby and Torus in the same sentence. Though he and Sophia mated, he acted aloof to the entire situation. If it had not been for Sophia and Mitch, I wouldn't have thought the guy would be mated. He was just that kind of asshole. Sophia didn't seem to mind being mated to him or Mitch. I mean, come on, she chased after an ass like me for years. I just wished she would have gotten a better ending rather than Mitch and Torus. After all, she had been through, she deserved so much more.Mitch sighed. "Where is he now?""He's in my chambers, sleeping," Fel answered."What's wrong with him?" I probed, looking for answers.Aqualia's shoulders bounced."He's rejecting his coupling urges," Fel responded. "The more he does it, the more he's losing control. And, a merger losing control is n

My heartbeat pounded in my ears. When the executive stated that the King needed my presence in the King and Queen's quarters, I panicked. Mitchalus has time and time again pointed out he had no interest in sleeping in the same quarters. This was the main reason we avoided this area. It was not meant for us. Which would explain my nervousness.Mitchalus was not the type of person to change his mind out of the blue. He would fight it until I submitted. However, before he did no such thing. Instead, he helped my ruined Kingdom to go under construction. It had to mean he accepted where we were and decided to let me go. For some odd reason, I was heartbroken. It was a much more wrenching feeling than anything else.Mitchalus gave up. It should have made me happy. All I ever wanted was to be rid of this Kingdom and ruled in mine. Now, Mitchalus was giving me the chance to do so and it was like my world was ending.Stupid girly feelings!I had ho

"Are you sure you want to do this, Mom?" I asked as she got ready to leave. It was not that I didn't want her to go. That was the plan, after all. But my visit home was different. There was a tension there that was odd. My house was always a cheery place. It made me feel comfortable and safe. However, when I went home, that calm was gone. It was as if everyone was holding on with a thin line.I couldn't tell if it was me. My relationship with Fel was not too stellar. She was different. No longer was she shy or sweet. She only stuck around because she needed my help to free Craig, and she was not afraid to let me know. Around everyone else, it would appear that she was the perfect mate. Behind the scenes, she was a monster. Too headstrong and determined to do things her way.She couldn't wait to get away from me. The more she rebelled, the more I craved her. I needed help, it was clear with my interest in women. Still, I couldn't help myself. Fel subm

My heart rate went off the charts. A chill ran down my spine. The anger in Fel's eyes had me paralyzed in the spot. This was the first time I have ever seen her and she did not look innocent and shy. The determination and anger were aimed at me. It didn't matter, though. All I wanted was to kiss her. For some strange reason, she was way hotter than before. It could be the aquamarine dress. It was too provocative to be considered such. The majority of her breasts were spilled out from the deep V neck design. The two slits on each of her thighs were enough to keep my eyes on her movements. If that was not enough, the material was thin to invite every heterosexual male. Yet, it was thick enough to hold everything from the viewer. Her hair was down. The crown was a perfect addition to the colors in her hair. Her hair had gotten longer. It swayed from her hip with the wind."Fel," I breathed. She hissed. "How dare you! How dare you!"

"We'll go to see her now," I ordered Amoria.Time waited on no man. I didn't have time to waste. The sooner we found the Seer, the better things were."Aren't you supposed to be resting?" Amoria observed me. "Your mother just died."If I had not been smart and severed my connection to that mermaid, I would have to be resting now. The excruciating pain would have been enough to keep me bedrisen for at least a few days.I pushed from my throne and swam up beside her. "She was no mother of mine. She doesn't deserve that title. I refused to be held back by such a mermaid.""Hmmm." Amoria opened a portal before us. "You really have changed. It's kind of scary. Too bad, I know how to handle crazy bitches."A corner of my mouth twitched at the comment. "Look who's talking? You're the craziest of us all.""Damn right about that."Neither of us moved as the hole got bigger. I didn't trust Amoria one

The three guards never moved or said anything. One of them was keeping a secret, yet none of them wanted to talk. I shifted my tail, getting more comfortable. If they thought they would get away with using their powers against Craigleon, they had the next thing coming."Craigleon was the best person in this Kingdom," I admitted. "I'm sure all three of you can agree. He must have helped each of you in one way or another. He helped me in more ways than one. He taught me things my parents were too busy to teach. He was patient and kind. The kind of person that you couldn't help loving."One encounter with my brother changed many lives. He was a beautiful man, inside and out. Mother's masterpiece. It was no secret she loved him more. If he had been born a girl, she would have tossed me aside from the very beginning. Maybe I wouldn't have been born."When I was younger and scared Craigleon was the one who snuck in my chambers and sang to me until I fell a

Everyone bowed at my arrival to the Bedding Cave. This place was essential to our Kingdom. The cave rested beside The Bedding. Once the star has been passed on from one Queen to the next, the previous Queen would be taken to this cave. Here she could relax and pass away in peace. The Bedding is next to it, which helped to rest her shell of a body there once she passed on to the ancestral world.Father was the only one in the Mother Queen chamber. The minute he noticed me, he moved from the chair beside Mother's bed."Fesel, are you okay?" he asked. Though his lips moved, his facial expression held no ounce of concern. If I had not known the other side of my father, his behavior would have fooled me like it did everyone else. However, I knew what he was like as a Father. And, this was not it. The spark he once had was gone. I needed to know what he did that caused him to look this dead. I needed to know the truth. What was going on? This was why I nee

My eyes fluttered open. It took me a while to recall my current situation. I was a Queen, my mother was on the brink of death, and here I was. My heartbeat pounded in my temples. I swung my tail from the bed and sat up."Your Majesty, you are awake," the dark sorcerer rushed to me. "You gave me quite the scare."Oh right. I sought out the dark sorcerer to get rid of all connections to everyone close to me. Mother was on the brink of death and I didn't want to feel that useless heartache. Therefore, I had it all taken away. I shouldn't have to suffer if any of them die. None of them took my pain when I suffered. None of them."I thought you might have died for sure," the dark sorcerer went on. "I warned you about that spell. It is a miracle you are still alive. Breaking a connection with one person is as much stress on your body, much less three people all at once."The pain was excruciating enough to cause me to lose consciousness. I
