“YOU LOOKED THIN,” Isabelle’s expression was filled with worry as she gazed at her daughter whose eyes were still swollen from crying earlier. Celene returned her mother’s gaze and placed a hand on top of hers as they paused from eating for a moment.

“Don’t worry, Mom. I was just feeling overwhelmed and stressed for the past few weeks, but I’m okay now. Your delicious cooking will definitely help me gain back the weight I lost.” She reassured, not wanting to see the worried expression on her beautiful mother’s face. “I missed your cooking, mom.”

“Then eat more, I cooked most of your favorite dishes.” Isabelle smiled and Celene nodded before they resumed eating. She was grateful that they didn’t reprimand her for making a mistake by marrying Jarred. They never even mentioned it to spare her any discomfort. Plus, it seemed like they were already aware of everything, so there was no need for them to ask her any questions.

“I’m glad to see you and Noah seemed to be getting along,” Herman

TIME FLEW BY, and Celene had settled comfortably back into her lavish lifestyle. She was also doing surprisingly well emotionally, as thoughts of Jarred no longer plagued her mind. After all, her focus was solely on the mission her father had given her. Tomorrow, she would begin her new job at Salvatore Group and was mentally preparing for the tasks that lay ahead.“This is our first date, but you don’t seem very happy about it. What’s wrong?” Celene turned to Noah, who was behind the wheel as they made their way to the mall. It was a subsidiary of Salvatore, and since she needed new clothes, she suggested that they make their first date a shopping trip.“Well, I don’t see why I would need to be enthusiastic when all we’re going to do was go shopping.” She shrugged, her eyes fixed on him. She was still amazed every time she saw him in casual attire instead of his usual formal suit and tie—she didn’t know why but, he looked even more attractive this way.She couldn’t deny that Noah exu

“LOVER?” Jarred’s brows furrowed after the word finally registered inside his brain. He looked from Noah to Celene, struggling to believe that she had already found someone else so soon after their break-up. “Did you cheat on me?”“Oh God! Can you not lump me together with you?” Celene scoffed, “I never cheated. We had already ended our relationship when I started seeing someone else, unlike you who had an affair while we were still married.”“Impossible. Maybe that was the reason why you suddenly change—”“Stop bullshitting me, Jarred. Are you under the impression that I won’t be able to move on just because I was head over heels to you before?” She interrupted, refusing to hear baseless accusations from him, “I hate to burst your bubble, but I’ve already come to my senses. Especially after meeting Noah, who was way better and much more worthy than you.”Jarred’s face twisted in pain as her words hit him like a physical blow. He curled his fingers into a tight fist, ready to retaliat

“HONESTLY, how on earth did you stay married to that man for almost three years?” Noah asked as he twirled his fork on the plate of Alfredo pasta they had ordered. Meanwhile, Celene leaned back in her chair and took a sip of water, lost in memories of her failed marriage.“He wasn’t that bad when we started dating,” she answered, “He used to be kind and gentle, but as time went on, I started to notice his red flags. It was bearable so, I turned a blind eye to it.”“I know that was stupid of me, and I really regretted marrying him. Had I known he would return to his ex, the one who had publicly dumped him before, I never would have approached him that day or offered him my handkerchief.” Celene let out a humorless laugh and shook her head. The memory was still fresh in her mind—how Agnes had publicly broken up with Jarred at the restaurant, causing a scene that everyone could hear. Celene, their server at that time stood frozen as she watched Agnes storm out while Jarred fought back te

THE NEXT MORNING, Celene was already getting ready for her first day of work at their own company. However, just like she and her parents had agreed to, she would work as a regular employee rather than a superior. Therefore, she opted for a simple outfit: black loose trousers and a white half-sleeve top. As for her hair, she just let it down and didn’t put on much makeup and jewelry. After finishing her preparations, she grabbed her bag and made her way downstairs, where her mother was sitting on the couch.“Mom, I’m leaving,” she said, and Isabelle stood up to fix her hair a bit.“Take care, okay? I know your task wasn’t easy, but your father and I believed in your ability to accomplish it.” her mother said, smiling proudly at her, “But if the situation becomes overwhelming, do not hesitate to inform us immediately, and we’ll do something about it.”“Don’t worry, Mom. After everything that I’ve been through, I don’t think there’s anything I can’t handle now,” Celene’s reassuring word

“UHMMM...” A woman with glasses approached Celene hesitantly, “Are you alright? I’ll show you to your workstation. You’ll be taking over for Alice, who recently left the company.”“I see, I’m okay… Thank you,” Celene’s lips curved into a grateful smile as she realized there was at least one kind person in this office. The woman led her to an empty cubicle, and she sat down on the chair, feeling uncertain about what tasks she was supposed to do today since no one had briefed her yet. “Sorry, may I know what’s your name?”“I’m Criselda, how about you?”“I’m Celene,” She flashed another smile and they both reached out to shake hands since their desk was right next to each other, “Do you know what work I should—”Just as she was about to finish her sentence, a blonde woman placed some papers on her desk, causing both Celene and Criselda to turn their attention towards her.“Take these and organize them by category. Once you’re finished, send the files over to me for review.” She demanded

FOR A MOMENT, there was a silence that filled the car... Celene couldn’t help but wonder why he would ask such a question with such intensity. Did it truly matter to him? She quickly brushed aside the thought and focused on the glimmer of nervousness in his eyes. It seemed as though he was beginning to regret his betrayal. Maybe he hadn’t anticipated that she would move on so quickly, and his ego was bruised as a result.“Haven’t I introduced you to each other yesterday?” she finally spoke, breaking the silence and yanking her hand back because he was still holding it. “I never cheated on you, so don’t ever think we’re the same, that was insulting.”“Before we started dating, you know I had unrequited love, right? Well, that person was him. After we broke up, we reconnected, and he was the one who consoled me during my lowest moments. He stayed by my side constantly because your focus was always on Agnes.”Despite not needing to, Celene couldn’t help but explain herself, her stomach t

His voice was filled with desire, and there was something more in his eyes–fear. Fear that he might lose control if she doesn’t push him away soon and stop his actions.“Come on, Lin. “GOOD MORNING,” Celene opened her eyes to see Noah’s smile. It was infectious, and she couldn’t help but smile back at him as he looked at her with his head propped up on his hand, “How are you feeling?”“I’m feeling great, I feel refreshed,” she responded, closing one eye as he leaned in to plant a gentle kiss on her forehead.“That’s a relief. I was afraid that you’d be sore from last night,” he chuckled, remembering how they had made love again and again after taking a quick break. Celene’s cheeks instantly turned red as she too, remembered how wild their night was.Not only did they continue to engage in intimate activities, but they also did it without protection throughout the night.“I cooked us breakfast, let’s go downstairs before it gets cold.” Noah chuckled because he could tell that his wife was reminiscing their passionate encounter last night.Celene nodded and got up out of bed, stretching her limbs while yawning. His tongue danced against hers before sliding into her mouth, causing her to shudder underneath his touch.“Nghh~ I love you, too,” Celene breathed out, her hips moving against his own. “MOM,” Celene called out when she entered the private room where her father was currently sleeping. “How’s Dad?”“He’s recovering well. According to the doctor, he should be able to go home in about a week if everything continues to improve as expected.” Isabelle replied and Celene felt a sense of relief. At least there was some good news amidst the unpleasantness that had filled her day so far.“I see, that’s good to know.” She smiled, “By the way Mom, I’ll be going back to the penthouse.”“Oh, Is Noah returning tonight?”“Yes, Mom. I just drop by here so I can tell you personally.” Celene smiled before kissing her mother on the cheek, “Tomorrow, I’ll visit again and take care of Dad so, you can go home and rest.”“All right,” Isabelle nodded in understanding, and Celene moved over to the bed to give her father a gentle kiss on the forehead. With a wish for his speedy recovery, she left the hospital, hoping to see him back to full health soon.“Let’s swing by my parents’ place first
