*5 years later*
“Mom! Mom! I want that!” cried a little girl around four years old, pointing excitedly at a picture of ice cream outside a restaurant. Her big, round eyes sparkled with excitement, enhanced by her bright blue irises.
Suddenly, a small hand grasped the girl’s hand to hold her back. “Lily, don’t bother Mom. We can buy it later, okay?” replied a calm boy who looked just like the girl. His steady demeanor made some onlookers think he was older than he appeared.
Between the two adorable twins, a beautiful woman in elegant attire held their hands, smiling down at them. She knelt before her children and said, “Liam is so understanding,” she praised. Then, she turned to Lily, gently stroking her hair. “Just be patient, sweetheart. After we get to the apartment and unpack, I’ll take you to get ice cream, okay?”
Lily looked a little downcast but nodded slowly. “Okay, Mom.”
That response made the woman smile warmly. “Good girl.” She took both children’s hands again as they walked out of the New Santerra airport arrivals area.
Suddenly, a loud voice called out, “Ms. Evelyn Sinclair?” The woman with the two adorable twins turned.
Yes, the stunning woman was none other than Evelyn Collins, now known as Evelyn Sinclair.
Five years had passed since she left New Santerra at her father Richard Collins’s command. She never imagined returning with the two twins she had raised alone.
If it weren’t for her friend’s recommendation from overseas, Evelyn wouldn’t have thought of coming back to the place filled with painful memories.
As she approached, a man in a black suit and white shirt greeted her politely, “Hello, Ms. Evelyn. My name is Eddie. I’m the driver Ms. Anita sent to take you to your apartment.”
Hearing her friend’s name mentioned, Evelyn nodded gently. “Nice to meet you, Mr. Eddie.” She turned to her children. “What do you say when you meet someone new?”
“Hello, Uncle Eddie!” the cute twins chimed together.
Seeing the children’s polite behavior, the middle-aged man smiled and bowed slightly. “Hello to you too.” He looked at Evelyn and asked, “Is this all your luggage?” He noticed the porter behind her, carrying two small suitcases.
Evelyn nodded. “I left most of my things in case I needed to go back.” She asked her twins to wait while she approached the porter to give a tip. “Thank you, sir.”
While Evelyn and the driver handled the luggage, Liam and Lily teased each other, eventually leading to a playful chase as they ran around to pass the time.
At that moment, a tall man stepped through the arrivals gate. His fitted gray suit accentuated his striking figure. Although his eyes were hidden behind sunglasses, his sharp nose and thin lips caught the attention of several women nearby, making them blush.
“Who is that guy?”
“He looks like a model!” “Is he a foreign celebrity? You rarely see a guy this tall in New Santerra!”Several comments floated around from women in the area. No one could deny that the man was incredibly handsome and captivating.
Ignoring the gazes on him, the tall man checked his phone. “What’s our schedule today?” he asked flatly.
Next to him, a similarly dressed man opened a notebook and explained, “We need to meet with the branch representative of Dean Group in two hours to discuss the declining annual report. We also have a meeting about tomorrow’s interviews.”
With confidence, Adam issued his command, “Let’s go back to the residence first; I have a few things to take care of before—”
“Ah!”
Adam’s words were cut off when something bumped into his leg hard. He looked down and saw a little girl in a sweet white dress who had fallen to the floor. He quickly realized that she had collided with him.
Adam removed his sunglasses and bent down slightly, reaching out his hand. “Are you okay—”
“Sorry!” A boy suddenly appeared, blocking Adam from touching the little girl. “My sister didn’t mean it; we’re sorry!” the boy exclaimed, bowing politely.
Looking at the boy’s face, Adam found himself speechless. Whether it was just his imagination or not, the boy’s features were strikingly similar to his own. Not to mention the blue eyes both children had…
“Lily! Liam!” a worried voice interrupted Adam’s thoughts. A woman in elegant attire hurried over to the twins. “Are you okay, sweetheart?” she asked, helping the little girl up.
Lily’s eyes looked teary, but she shook her head and pouted. Her arms stretched out, asking her mother for a hug.
Once the woman ensured her daughter was alright, she picked her up while grabbing her son’s hand. She quickly turned to apologize to the man her daughter had bumped into. “I’m so sorry, sir. My daughter wasn’t careful—”
When their eyes met, the woman froze. Adam stood still as well, not only because of her striking beauty but also because a familiar scent wafted into his nose. He stared intently at her, trying to piece together who she was.
In his heart, Adam thought, ‘This woman....’
‘This man!’As Evelyn stared at the man in front of her, she found herself at loss for words. It wasn’t just his intimidating gaze; it was also the bright blue eyes that she recognized all too well.“It’s okay,” Adam replied in a low voice that sent shivers down her spine, not waiting for her to finish her sentence. His voice made Evelyn's heart race. Despite trying to forget that night for years, memories of it haunted her. Her body recalled every touch from the man standing before her.Five years had passed, yet Evelyn could never forget how he looked. Those piercing blue eyes, his thin lips, and the toned body that had once consumed her thoughts.Evelyn opened her mouth to say something, “You—”“Mr. Adam, we need to leave now,” another voice interrupted, pulling Adam’s attention away from her.“Julian, I’m just—”Realizing how close she was to making a mistake, Evelyn quickly said, “I’m sorry again. Excuse me.” She turned and hurried away.Adam was taken aback by her sudden rush, bu
Chapter 7 Eden Entertainment“Congratulations, Evelyn. You’ve been accepted as the business director's secretary. Mr. Director has also said you’ll start working tomorrow,” said a man in his thirties, extending his hand toward Evelyn.Evelyn shook his hand firmly and slightly bowed her head. “Thank you, Mr. Harvey. I will do my best to meet your expectations,” she replied politely.Harvey, the HR manager and a friend of Anita, nodded. “Rena,” he called, and a young woman appeared beside him. “Please take Evelyn on a tour of the office so she feels comfortable tomorrow.”Rena greeted Evelyn warmly, knowing how hard it was to get a position like hers. “Hello, Ms. Evelyn. I’m Rena, from the HR department.” Evelyn smiled back and shook her hand.Seeing his job done, Harvey said, “I have other matters to attend to, so I’ll leave you now, Evelyn.”“Alright, thank you again,” Evelyn replied.Once Harvey was out of sight, Rena led Evelyn away for the tour. “Come with me, Ms. Evelyn.”The comp
“We’re late,” Julian muttered, checking his watch. “The interviews should be wrapped up by now.” His gaze shifted to the windshield, staring at the heavy traffic clogging the streets of New Santerra.“It’s fine,” replied the man beside him, Adam, his tone calm as he continued tapping on the laptop in his lap. “It’s just a small interview. HR can handle it. I’m not going to miss the chance of a contract with a top music label, am I?” His focus was clear.Fifteen minutes later, as they stepped into the lobby, Julian’s tablet dinged with a notification. He glanced at it and sighed. “HR just informed me that the interviews have concluded.”“Hmm,” Adam responded curtly, stepping into the elevator without breaking his stride. “Tell them to prepare a report on the candidates. I want it on my desk soon.” He didn’t pay any mind to the admiring glances cast his way by employees as they passed.“Who is that? A new celebrity?” one employee whispered. “He’s so handsome!”A senior employee quickly
Hearing Adam’s words, Evelyn froze on the spot. Her heart raced, and her mind went into overdrive. How could he possibly remember her from a mere fragrance? She had been using the same perfume for years, but surely he couldn't recognize her just from that, could he?‘Is he a bloodhound?’ Evelyn cursed internally, nervously lifting her eyes to meet Adam’s intense blue gaze.“I-I’m sorry?” Evelyn squeaked, her voice betraying her fear. She tried to keep her composure, but Adam’s sharp stare left her rattled.Something about her reaction sparked interest in Adam. Her fear, her fragility—it made him curious, and maybe even a little amused. “Your perfume, I’ve smelled it before,” he repeated, narrowing his eyes. “Have we met?”Evelyn’s heart pounded. Did he know? Was he trying to corner her into confessing? Should she lie?“Hmm, hmm!” Rena, standing beside Evelyn, coughed—purposefully interrupting Adam. “That’s Rosa by Tous, a popular women’s perfume since ages ago, Mr. Adam.”Everyone’s a
“Ms. Evelyn, are you alright?” Rena asked, noticing Evelyn’s pale face and distracted expression as they continued their office tour. “If you’re tired, we can finish the tour tomorrow.”Snapping out of her thoughts, Evelyn forced a smile. “I’m fine, Rena. Thanks for your help back in the elevator.”Rena returned the smile. “No problem. I could tell the CEO’s question made you uncomfortable.”Rena couldn’t help but wonder why Adam had shown any interest in Evelyn. He never made small talk with anyone except top executives or important clients. So why start a conversation about perfume with a new employee?‘Rich people are just strange,’ Rena concluded, brushing it off.As they walked, Evelyn couldn’t shake Adam’s words from her mind. It bothered her so much that she finally asked, “What kind of person is our CEO?”Rena chuckled lightly, surprised by the question. “To be honest, I don’t know him that well. This is the first time I’ve seen him ever since I started working here. But from w
“Evelyn?” Andre’s voice trembled as he took in the woman standing in front of him. “Is that really you?” he asked again, clearly shocked that the woman he thought is long gone suddenly appeared.Evelyn took a deep breath, fighting to collect herself. Memories of the sweet, loving relationship she once shared with Andre flooded her mind. But in seconds, those memories faded, replaced by the painful realization of how cruelly he had abandoned her.And to make it worse, Andre had married someone she despised most in the world—her sister.Deciding on her next move, Evelyn took a bold step. “I’m sorry, sir, but I think you’ve got the wrong person,” she replied coldly. Before Andre could question her further, she swiftly changed the topic. “I’ll cover the cost of repairs for your car. Do you have a preferred shop we can go to right now?”Andre’s brow furrowed in confusion, clearly puzzled by Evelyn’s distant attitude. He was sure this woman is Evelyn, his former love. Though she looked older
Evelyn inhaled sharply, her gaze locking onto the familiar figure before her. "Mr. Julian?" she asked, her voice tinged with incredulity.Julian's lips curled into a measured smile, clearly pleased she recognized him. "Ms. Evelyn, there’s no need to waste your energy on someone like him. Just head home," he advised, his tone composed yet unwavering.Despite her exasperation with Andre, a pang of culpability gnawed at Evelyn. She had, after all, been the catalyst for this confrontation. Her accidental collision with his car had triggered the entire ordeal."I did hit his car first," she admitted, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear. "He mistook me for someone he knew, and when I denied it, he got upset. So, in a way, this started because of me."Julian inclined his head in acknowledgment but had no intention of allowing the situation to escalate. His orders were clear. Casting a glance at Andre, who remained sprawled on the pavement, he reached into his pocket and produced a
Evelyn adjusted the rearview mirror, her gaze softening as she glanced at her two children in the backseat. "So, how was your first day of school?" she asked, her voice warm with curiosity.Liam, who had been uncharacteristically quiet, suddenly brightened. "It was great, Mommy!" he exclaimed, reaching over to squeeze Lily’s hand. "Right, Lily?"Unlike her brother’s enthusiasm, Lily’s smile was forced. "Y-yeah," she murmured, her voice barely above a whisper.Evelyn’s brows knitted together as she caught the hesitation. "Oh? Really? What did you two do today?" she probed gently, sensing there was more to the story.Liam launched into an animated retelling of his day—dancing, singing songs, learning new words, and making friends. He described how their classroom was decorated with bright posters, how the teacher had read them a story, and how he had played soccer during recess with some of the other boys. Evelyn listened patie
“What do you mean?” Evelyn demanded, her dark eyes filled with unease. “Go where?”Adam leaned back against the seat, clearly satisfied with the apprehension flickering across her face. Instead of answering, he pulled out his tablet and started scrolling through the latest online headlines.[Does Adam Dean Have a Secret Lover?!][Who Is the Mysterious ‘Veiled’ Woman with the Heir?][The Hidden Woman in Adam Dean’s Life: Who Is She?]The articles spread across the screen, speculation running wild.“Adam Dean!” Evelyn snapped, irritation flaring in her voice. “Put that away and—”Before she could finish, the car took a sharp turn, throwing her off balance. She gasped as she tumbled forward—straight into Adam’s lap.His tablet hit the floor with a dull thud, but Evelyn barely noticed. Her face burned a
Adam was about to speak when the soft chime of the elevator interrupted him. The doors slid open, revealing a group of employees waiting to step in. Without hesitation, Adam slipped off his suit jacket and draped it over Evelyn’s head, shielding her from prying eyes.Startled by the unexpected gesture, Evelyn let out a muffled yelp. “What the—!?”“Come with me,” Adam cut her off, his firm hand wrapping around her waist as he led her out of the elevator and through the lobby. His grip was firm, unyielding, making it impossible for her to resist without causing a scene.Whispers erupted the moment they stepped out. Employees gawked, exchanging looks of disbelief.“Wait… who’s that with Mr. Adam?” one woman gasped, clutching her friend’s arm. Her eyes gleamed with the thrill of fresh gossip. “Why is he covering her like that?!”Another colleague chimed in, grinning. “
“You’re the woman who walked into my hotel room five years ago, aren’t you?”Adam’s words froze Evelyn in place. Her heart pounded so hard it hurt. ‘How does he know?’ she thought, panic gripping her.For five years, she had convinced herself that Adam wouldn’t recognize her—that after that night, he had moved on without ever realizing who she was. And yet, here he was, looking at her with sharp, knowing eyes.A Few Hours EarlierAdam stared at the DNA test results on his desk, his usual calm shattered by the words before him.Probability of paternity: 99.9%His hand covered his mouth as he exhaled sharply, leaning back in his chair. One hour ago, he had been a successful bachelor, focused only on expanding his business empire. Now, he was a father to four-year-old twins—children who had appeared out of nowhere.“You’re sure this
“Let go of me!” Evelyn shouted, struggling to free herself. But she hadn’t expected Ryan to be this strong. Realizing she couldn’t overpower him, she did the only thing she could. “Help! Somebody help me!”Instead of panicking, Ryan smirked, almost amused by her resistance. Something about Evelyn fighting back only fueled his twisted sense of control.“No one can hear you, sweetheart,” he murmured, pressing his heavy body against hers. “This office is soundproof.”Evelyn grimaced in disgust, her heart pounding in terror as she felt his breath against her skin. She knew screaming wouldn’t help—no one would come. She needed to fight.Without hesitation, she lifted her knee and slammed it between Ryan’s legs with all her strength.Ryan’s eyes bulged, and his smirk twisted into agony. “You little—!” he gasp
"What?! Who is this someone—"Without a shred of patience left, Adam ended the call abruptly. Frustrated, he tossed his phone onto the desk and returned to his work.Julian, still standing in the room, gaped at his boss in shock. ‘Mr. Adam… has a girlfriend?’ Despite Adam’s usual impassive expression, Julian’s mind was spinning with questions. ‘Who? Why don’t I know about this?!’While Julian was drowning in confusion, Adam lifted his gaze and shot him a sharp look. "Is your job to stare at my face?"Julian snapped his head down, pretending to focus on the documents in his hands. But despite his better judgment, curiosity got the better of him. "Since when do you have a girlfriend, Mr. Adam?" he asked cautiously.Adam, still signing documents, didn’t react at first. He continued flipping through the pages, his pen moving effortlessly across th
"You disrespectful grandson! Your grandfather calls all the way from Capitol, and this is how you answer?" The rough voice of an old man barked through the phone, scolding Adam.Julian, who was still standing in front of Adam’s desk, turned slightly and shook his head. ‘Ah, it’s Mr. Noah again,’ he thought as he made his way back to his desk.Noah Dean—the former CEO of the massive Dean Group empire and Adam Dean’s grandfather. As the family’s patriarch, every member of the Dean family treated him with utmost respect.Except for Adam.Rather than softening his tone, Adam’s voice grew colder. "So, why are you calling, Grandfather?" he asked bluntly, already anticipating that whatever the old man had to say wouldn’t be to his liking.Noah, lounging on a chair on the grand terrace of his mansion, raised his voice again. "Why did you suddenly leave for N

“No need, ma’am. The man on that day left without causing any trouble, and he returned my card,” Julian replied casually.Hearing that, Evelyn sighed in relief. At least Andre hadn’t complicated things further, sparing her the ordeal of paying him off. “I’m glad to hear that,” she said with a soft smile.Though she owed Julian nothing, Evelyn felt grateful for how he had helped her handle Andre Sterling’s unwelcome intrusion. An idea crossed her mind—perhaps she could give him a small gift in return.“What’s your favorite food, Mr. Julian?” Evelyn asked suddenly, catching both Julian and Rena off guard.‘Whoa, go for it, Ms. Evelyn! I support this!’ Rena cheered internally, her mind running wild with possibilities. She assumed Evelyn was trying to flirt with Julian.Though Julian wasn’t in the same league as Adam in terms of status, his tall fr
Evelyn? Ms. Evelyn!”The sound of her name, accompanied by a hand waving in front of her face, snapped Evelyn out of her daze. “R-Rena?” she stammered, blinking as she registered the presence of her younger colleague. “Oh, hi,” she added hesitantly, still disoriented.Rena smiled sympathetically, used to Evelyn’s occasional moments of absentmindedness. Standing in line behind Evelyn at the office cafeteria, she asked, “So, how was your first day yesterday?”Evelyn forced a smile as she pointed to one of the dishes for the server. “It was … fine, I think?” she said uncertainly. Memories of her encounter with Linda flashed in her mind. “Although, as you said, Ms. Linda is … difficult.”Rena grabbed her food and followed Evelyn to a table, waving off a coworker to indicate she’d be sitting with the new secretary. “Everyone’s already heard about what happened yesterday,” Rena said casually as they sat across from each other.Evelyn froze, her fork halfway to her mouth. “What do you mean?”
