Chapter Five: The Divorce.

"Tullah, get down here now" Mrs. Naomi screamed right through the living room, where Mr. Richard was also sitting while they waited for Tullah to join them, Noami walked over to the kitchen counter where her bag was and took out a big brown envelope that contains some papers which are yet to be reviewed.

Tullah matched down to the living room only to find both her parents with her Dad sitting while her mom stood right next to the television, one looking at their mean faces could obviously see the pressure between them. She smiled awkwardly at them before taking a seat next to her Dad. She waited for her mom to break the news because she had always been the one doing that ever since her Dad lost his job.

"We are getting a divorce" Mrs. Naomi let out without a break of an eye, she threw the envelope over to the table for Tullah and her husband to have a look.

"What??. I mean, you didn't discuss this with me first, why?" Mr. Richard broke out angrily, he stood to his feet and took the envelope from the table. "This is not going to happen" He hurled the envelope to the side.

"What are you insinuating, Richard? So it has come to the importance of telling you before I make my decisions? Right?" Mrs. Naomi yelled back at the same major which she had gotten.

"You are always meant to tell me before doing most things, and besides, What lawyer would hand a divorce paper to you without consulting the husband first?" He couldn't believe what was happening, he never thought things would get out of hand to the extent of getting a divorce.

"And that's my kind of lawyer, so now you will sign those papers and I will take Tullah away from this place." Mrs. Naomi noted. Mr. Richard was pissed on how this could be happening to his family, his life is about to get separated from him.

Tullah was shut of words, once again she's been stuck in the middle of her parent's conflict but not like other days that she didn't care, she couldn't get her head around the divorce thing which clearly means she also has a say in these.

"No Mom, nobody is taking me anywhere," Tullah said loudly but in a calm manner.

"Oh hell yes, you are leaving with me to someplace far away from this man right here" Mrs. Naomi took a turn and yelled at Tullah.

"Naomi you can't do this to me" Mr. Richard was slowly breaking down. He had nothing to do about this, deep down inside him knows that divorce could be the only way but he doesn't want to believe that, he wants to hope that sometime soon that things will get better between them.

"And who says I can't, listen Richy, I have had enough of your quarrels, I need to be free, free from you, free from this shitty marriage" She walked up to the side where the envelope was toasted to, picked it from where Richard had flung it to. She furiously opened them and placed the papers right in front of her husband, "Apology's" her-husband-to-be "Oh right yes, we are getting this divorce".

"Am not signing these" Mr. Richard folded his hands across his shoulders and toasted his face to the side.

"Oh yes, you will." She walked back to the kitchen counter where her bag was, took a pen out of the bag, and came back to place it on top of the papers. "Now sign"

Tullah sat there watching things play out like in the movies, she was drowning in her thoughts. What would life be without my Dad? What would life be without my Mom? What would life be without my friends here? What would it be without Saul? "No…..NO.. NO" She ran out of the living room and jumped the stairs in two without realizing it. Getting to her room, she slammed the door shut, loudly.

"Tullah, you better start packing your things up there" She heard her mom scream from the living room. Tullah was confused, in the midst of her tears, she felt so irritated.

Tullah laid on her bed with her pillow already getting soaked with tears. Despite how things have so far in her family, Tullah knew she couldn't live without her father neither could she picture living without her mom either "But at this point, I guess I will be better off alone than stay separately with one of them" Tullah thought to herself and slowly sat up on her bed. She had a rethink of what was coming to her mind and without wasting much time, she jumped out of bed and began to pack her stuff.

Down in the living room, Naomi stood right beside the refrigerator while tapping her toe on the floor. She was done packing her stuff long before now so she stood right there in the living room waiting patiently for Tullah to come down with her luggage.

Mr. Richard was down, he had tears in his eyes, watching things far apart between him and his family was something he had never thought of. He knew this was it and there was no going back, knowing that Naomi had already made up her mind and that nothing could stop her, gave him chills all over his body.

"Tullah will surely choose to stay with me"

"And what makes you think so?"

"Because..."

"Because what? Have you been a good father to her?"

"Have I?"

"Do you think you have some fatherly bond with her?"

"Do I?" Mr. Richard couldn't stop thinking. Battling with his inner spirit was something he does more often ever since he had stopped relating his problems with his wife, Naomi.

Some part of him wished that Tullah would choose him over her mom even though he hadn't been the best father to her and for some selfish reason, he still hoped that he could win Tullah to his side.
