Lisa’s POV
3 months later, after I finally picked the pieces of my life back, I went back to work with dad. He made me the chief Finance Officer. Honestly working was hard. It was a herculean task but I was up for the challenge. Well except for today. I sat in a fully air conditioned office but had beads of sweat running down my cheeks and no matter how many times I had swiped them away, there was more from where that came from. My phones and the land lines have been ringing none stop all morning. The company was on fire. Well Hypothetically. Over the weekend, a very damaging rumor arose like the stench from a refuse dump. It’s been said that Kay conglomerate were about to go bankrupt. I has had clients and customers breathing down my neck in the last 10hrs. She had begged and cried and barked and screamed. None worked. I ran my hand over my wavy locks, making it more of a mess, than it was before. I searched through my bag and took out a pack of tissues. I had exhausted the one in the office. Just then the door to my office swung open. “Miss Lisa, the vice president is on the other call” the secretary said. Her eyes were wide and she had some stress marks underneath her eyes. Ana has been working tirelessly for me for the past 3 months but since this month, the pressure was getting intense. This morning while in the shower, I thought of her handing over her resignation letter and I flinched. I can’t have her leave now. “Thank you Ana” I gave her a small smile and she exited the office. I took in a deep breath, pushed my hair to the side and grabbed the phone. “Good morning, your excellency” I kept my voice calm even though there was a volcano erupting inside of her. Oh God! “Miss Kay, please tell me they are all lying?” the vice president’s voice boomed from the other end. I didn’t respond immediately as it might give an impression that I had something to hide. “Yes your Excellency. That was just a rumor from one of our rivals, please don’t let their words sway you too” I said standing to look through my window. A gigantic beautiful view of the city. I ended the call with more positive talks. “Pew that went well” I muttered when placing the phone down on my desk. I stared at the computer. The logo of the Kay Company was dancing all the screen. I stared at Dad’s message on my phone and slumped further into my chair. The Kay Company was the 3rd biggest company in the United States. We dealt in the shipping of everything you can think of. Everyone loved them because they were good and reliable. So when the vice president decide to become a shareholder in the company, I and dad were ecstatic. That deal was like the tip of the iceberg to the other deals that came flooding in. It took only 5 months, Kay conglomerate went majorly global. We were as big as Maersk. So when the rumor that we were going bankrupt began, everyone went on a frenzy. So when you are big person, your problems are nothing but big problems. For the past few months, what I didn’t know was that Dad had been getting dozens of emails. These emails were from a person who he had borrowed some money from, to fund the business. Then there was news that the person had died. Dad saw that as an opportunity to flee but then life always had plans to bring him to his knees. The threats from the person got worse, when he informed Dad that the money was from a bank. Then the bank began to go after him. Last week, they had gotten hold of our goods that were about to be shipped to customers. Dad secretly paid through his nose to, be free from that scandal. Now it was getting worse. They not only threatened his life, they threatened to report him to the police, and as you know, that will not be good for the business. He told me that he would meet an old friend for help. I hoped he did that fast because I was now running out of lies to tell. “Miss Lisa!!!” I spun around to find Ana burst in through the door, like a broken dam. “They are about to have a shareholder’s meeting!” “What!” I marched out of my office to the board room. I was shocked to my bones. It was true. “What is going on here?” I asked. “Lisa, kind of you to join us” Mr. Madrigal said. The sarcasm in his voice was so obvious, even to the deaf. “Hello Mr. Madrigal” I said quietly. “We have been trying to reach your father, where is he?” the two of them gave me a pointed stare. I opened my mouth but closed it. Just then my phone began to ring. I checked the screen. “Oh see it’s my dad” I waved the phone in front of them smiling. “Please excuse me” then I walked away from them. “Dad!” I whispered harshly as I looked from side to side “Where are you? They are about to have a shareholder’s meeting. I think they want reassurance” Within a minute the rest of the call was over but I got one statement clear. Stall them and come meet me. So I managed to make the shareholders keep the meeting waiting for the next 3 hours, with a little sweet talk. Immediately that was certain, I dashed out of the office to meet my father. I went to an auction event, as directed by my father. “What the hell is he doing here “I muttered as I went through the crowd, to find him. “Lisa” I turned around and my dad grabbed my hands. “We sit here” he said. I had a big question mark on my head. What was dad doing here during such a crucial time? I opened her mouth to bombard him with questions, when I heard a voice. My eyes went wide as soon as I saw it was Mr. Fibonacci. He was the richest man in the country. “Lisa” my dad whispered. I turned. “Don’t stare. My friend Charles is seating over there” I followed his gaze. And then a thought began to brew in my head. I took out my phone and went for a quick G****e sounds. Obviously Mr. Fibonacci is way richer. If only I could get him to invest in the company, we will be big and pay back that money. “Excuse me dad” I stood up despite my dad’s glares and walked up to where Mr. Fibonacci was sitting. “Excuse me sir, is this seat taken?” I gave him my best charming smile. He smiled back at me and shook his head. The rest was history. After a few talks here and there, Mr. Fibonacci was now an investor in Kay conglomerate. Due to how I solved that problem, dad was so happy. He called for a meeting to campaign for votes on making me the new CEO. .Lisa's POVI leaned my back on my car. I was frustrated as I felt a sense of unease, the only thing that could be felt through me was the anger I felt towards Andre Luster, my ex husband.A black cloth was covered on my head as I wrapped it around my neck. I didn't want to be seen by anyone so at that moment I had to be discreet in hiding my identity otherwise before I would carry out my plans, it would flop right in my face. I was outside Andre's mansion and I could hear their happy laughters coming from inside. It seemed as though they were contented with everything. Happiness came knocking on their door at the expense of snatching my own happiness from me. I could feel them rubbing their perfect lives on my face and how they were taunting me with words I couldn't hear. The thought of everything felt as though a knife was plunged through my chest. Even if everyone turned their backs on me, I was still surprised on what came over Andre. The way he acted and how he instantly switche
LISA'S POV I sat at my desk, feeling stuck. Liam and I had been talking about getting Leo involved in the issue for as long as I could remember, but I still couldn't make up my mind."I don't know, Liam," I said, throwing up my hands. "I want to hurt Andre so bad, but involving Leo feels like a huge risk. Not after knowing what he is to us, I mean my father, it stresses me out.”Liam leaned back in his chair. "I get it, but think about what you could gain. You could take down Andre and his whole empire."I stood up and started pacing around the room. "I know, but it's not just about winning or losing. It's about me, and what I'm willing to do to get revenge."I grabbed my bag and headed out the door, my mind still racing. As I drove home, I couldn't shake off the feeling that I was in over my head. When I got home, I collapsed onto the couch, feeling exhausted. I thought about Leo, and what he was offering me. I thought about Andre, and how much I wanted to hurt him.But most of all,
LISA'S POV As I stared at the message "Sorry about your car" on my screen, I felt a chill run down my spine. I looked around nervously, feeling vulnerable and scared. Without hesitation, I quickly dialed Liam's number, my investigator."Liam, it's happening again," I said, trying to keep my voice steady. "I got a mysterious call, and my car crashed. I think someone's following me."Liam's voice turned serious. "Stay where you are, I'm on my way."Within minutes, Liam arrived at the scene, his expression concerned. "Tell me what happened," he said, as he approached me.I recounted the events, from the phone call to the car crash. Liam listened attentively, his eyes narrowing as he processed the information."Let me see the phone," he said, as I handed it over. He examined the screen, his eyes scanning the messages. "This number is registered to a company called 'Eclipse Enterprises'."My heart skipped a beat. "That sounds familiar."Liam's expression turned puzzled. "It should. Eclips
LISA'S POV As I sat across from Marcus, I couldn't help but notice the way he seemed to relish in the tension between us. His eyes sparkled with a knowing glint, and I felt a shiver run down my spine."You work with Leo, don't you?" I asked, trying to keep my tone neutral.Marcus raised an eyebrow, a small smile playing on his lips. "I do," he said, his voice low and smooth. "And I can show you the proof, if you'd like."He pulled out a small folder from his briefcase and slid it across the table to me. I hesitated for a moment before opening it, my heart racing with anticipation. The documents inside were damning - emails, memos, and financial records that all pointed to a deep-seated connection between Marcus and Leo. I felt uneasy for a moment, knowing that I was learning the truth somehow and I just was refusing to accept it. I mean I had just realized the extent of their involvement. But even as I stared at the evidence in front of me, I couldn't shake the feeling that Marcus wa
LISA'S POV I had heard all Marcus had to say, it was thoughtful of Leo to ask me to merge the branch, any other person seeing they had the opportunity could have just taken over everything, this was an offer to save and I was glad for it but one thing gave me an headache merely thinking about it, and it was everything my father would think and say about this. "I need to talk to my father about this," I said, my mind already racing with the conversation I would have to have.Marcus nodded understandingly. "Of course. I expected as much. You can't make a decision like this without him knowing."I stood up, smoothing out my dress. "Even though I'm handling the business now, he still needs to know what's going on."Marcus shrugged, standing up as well. "I get it. Family is important."As he adjusted his funny hat, I couldn't help but smile slightly. Maybe Marcus wasn't so bad after all."You see, I wasn't so harmful, was I?" Marcus said, a hint of a smile playing on his lips. "All you n
LISA'S POV My father brought the conversation back on track, his expression serious. "So, Lisa, what's going on with the business? You were saying something about a problem?"My mother's eyes widened, her interest piqued. "What's wrong, dear? Is everything okay?"I sighed inwardly, thinking that my mother's arrival would provide a welcome distraction from the conversation. But now, it seemed like she was only going to make things worse.I took a deep breath and launched into the story, telling my father everything that had happened - the struggles with the company, the financial issues, the meeting with Liam... everything. I left out Marcus's offer, saving it for the end.As I finished, my father's expression was thoughtful. "I had no idea it was this serious," he said.My mother's eyes were wide with concern. "Oh, Lisa, why didn't you tell us? We had no idea."I shook my head. "I didn't want to worry you. And besides, I thought Father knew already."My father's expression changed fr
LISA'S POV I lay on my bed, tears streaming down my face, my body shaking with sobs. I didn't even know why I was crying, but the anger and frustration I felt towards my father's lack of trust in me was overwhelming.Just as I was starting to calm down, I heard a knock at the door. "Lisa, dear, please open up," my mother's soft voice called out.But I didn't want to talk to anyone. I was still too hurt, too angry. I tearfully and silently asked them to go away, hoping they would understand. My father tried to reason with me, his voice firm but gentle. "Lisa, we need to talk about this. I didn't mean to hurt your feelings."But I wouldn't yield. I couldn't face him right now, not when all I felt was pain and betrayal. My mother tried again, her voice pleading. "Lisa, sweetie, please open up. We love you and we're here for you."But I just shook my head, feeling the tears prick at the corners of my eyes again. Finally, my mother told Liam to go home and rest, promising to take care of
LISA'S POV The next morning, I rushed downstairs, already running late for work. My mother greeted me with a warm smile and a steaming cup of coffee. "Good morning, sweetie! Eat something before you go."I grabbed a piece of toast and took a quick bite, but my mother wasn't satisfied. "Lisa, slow down! You need to eat something proper."She shoved a piece of bacon into my mouth, and I munched on it as I headed out the door. "Thanks, Mum! Love you!"As I walked to the driveway, I noticed my car parked outside, packed and ready to go. I pulled out my phone and called my mother. "Mum, who brought my car?""Someone brought it fixed," she replied. "Liam asked him to bring it."I smiled, feeling a warmth in my chest. "Thanks, Mum. You're the best."My mother teased me, "Oh, I think someone else might be the best. You're smiling awfully big this morning."I laughed and hung up the phone, feeling a sense of excitement and gratitude. As I drove to work, I couldn't help but think about Liam an
Althea's POVAs I stood with the others far away from the Demonic Wolf, I couldn't help but think about how Lisa had saved me. To be honest, I didn't even expect her to save me on account of us quarrelling earlier. When I decided to hold back the Demonic Wolf and give everyone a chance to escape, I hadn't even expected anyone of them to come back for me. But somehow Lisa has acquired her ability, using it to come back for me. I would have died if not for her coming at the right moment to save me from the Demonic Wolf.My eyes lingered in the direction everyone was looking, hoping that Lisa would at least walk out of this. She had saved me from the Demonic Wolf, doing something very stupid later. And that thing was going off by herself to fight off the Demonic Wolf when she had not yet learnt how to control her ability. No one in the team could even take down the Demonic Wolf no matter what but she had gone off, hoping to finish off the Demonic Wolf. I didn't know if this was stupidity
Lisa's POVI've never been this confident in my entire life. It was like my courage had been multiplied several times after getting my shadow ability. It boosted my confidence and eliminated any fear and doubt that would have existed in my mind. My courage was unwavering just like a sturdy tree which could not be brought down despite the storm. Honestly, if someone had told me that I would become this confident I wouldn't have believed that person. I would have even insulted and quarrelled with that person for talking nonsense.Running through the shadow world was form. There was nothing like solids or liquids here. In fact there wasn't the existence of any object which could obstruct my path. I was so much free to move any way I liked, going through objects that would have been impossible to pass through by ordinary people. This gave me a new feeling which I couldn't describe. It was more like I was enjoying what I was doing right now."Let's see how mighty and great you are, Demonic
Lisa's POVMy entire body became covered with this white light that blinded even me. I couldn't even see any of my teammates who were doing battle or the undead creatures which were rapidly coming out of the ground to fight us. With this situation I felt that I'd been isolated from the entire world.Soon the light cleared and I could see again. I could see the others resume their fight against the undead creatures while keeping an eye on me. They all wore shocked expressions as if they didn't expect me to finally awaken my ability at the last moment. The most shocked of them all was Stephanie who had quarreled with me an hour ago."All my life I've been mocked by others and trampled upon," I silently muttered to myself as I clenched my other fist which wasn't wielding a sword, my eyes firmly on Althea who was still struggling to prevent the Demonic Wolf from crashing to the ground. "I have to change that today and show that I'm not entirely useless as everyone thinks."I took on a fig
Lisa's POV.When the Demonic Wolf appeared, I was really terrified. This was because I'd never seen anything like this. It easily towered over us like a small mountain and had a terrifying aura capable of crushing everyone. If not for the others around I would have already run away in order to escape from this powerful creature. But then, would that have made any difference? Hence, I decided to stay and fight no matter what. Although I was the ordinary one here I decided to give it my all and defeat this powerful Demonic Wolf which was after our lives.I wielded my sword, slashing the undead humanoid creatures it has summoned to attack us. It seemed as if it thought itself to be too powerful to do anything to us. Hence it sent its lackeys. This thought filled me with the determination to kill this Demonic Wolf or whatever it called itself."Find away to attack the Demonic Wolf!" I heard Faelan's voice. "If we don't kill it we will have to fight these undead creatures. And when that ha
Jake's POVI was about to kiss Lisa when I heard a very loud roar. Well, she heard it too and that interrupted our kiss. I was so upset that I wanted to immediately run towards the source of that roar and kill it with my bare hands. How dare it interrupt my first kiss with the woman I loved?I didn't have the chance to say anything to Lisa when the others. The main reason I'd actually come to meet her was to confess my feelings to her. But now everything I'd planned to say had been ruined. There was no way I'd be able to confess to Lisa now. It would be in the far future.I was still standing with my sword drawn when I felt this tremendous energy surge from the direction I'd been staring it. It was very powerful and almost overwhelmed me if not for the light within me. Even with the light, if I'd not awakened and connected with the guardian within me I would have been overwhelmed by this terrifying energy. I would have immediately died without knowing how and why.I turned to look at
Lisa's POVI continued running, not for once looking back at my friends. I was so angry right now and I needed to vent my feelings or else it would turn out bad for me. I wasn't very good when it came to bottling up feelings. Every time I became angry or hurt I'd do one or two things to release the negative feelings. And that was what I was going to do right now that my friends had made me angry.I finally stopped running, bending over as I panted heavily. I was already drenched in sweat which made my dress to stick to my body like glue. It wasn't a pleasant feeling but there was nothing I'd be able to do about it. My condition wasn't good right now and I needed to do something in order to feel better. After some minutes I finally recovered, my breathing becoming normal. I looked up at the moon which was shining brightly in the sky. Although there were tall trees in the forest they couldn't even obscure its radiance. It just stood in the sky, shining as if that was all that matters. I
Lisa's POVFinding the light within us? This seems like a fantasy we've been told to keep us in bondage. To be honest I was beginning to feel a little doubtful about everything. It wasn't as if I didn't believe the words of the Elders of Light but everything they said was hard to accomplish. I mean, we've been trying to find our light and connect with our guardians for a long period of time now.Well, at first we felt something. We really felt a connection and our body radiated with ethereal light which seemed to come from the dawn of existence. I really felt myself brimming with this primordial energy. But then, that was all to it. I didn't feel any change, I didn't feel any strength and I didn't feel any difference. I was just the same old me, Lisa Kay. I was just the ordinary young girl or woman or female...whatever they call it. I was just someone filled with emptiness. If it was up to me I would have really given up on all this. I would have stopped a long time ago, not following
Seraphina’s POVThe forest seemed to come alive as we ventured onward, each step igniting the vibrant magic woven into its very fabric. The air was thick with the scent of blooming blossoms and damp earth, as if the forest itself breathed in tandem with us. I could sense the spirits of the guardians guiding us, their presence like a warm embrace, assuring us that we were on the right path.“Where do you think we should go first?” Althea asked, turning her attention to the winding trails branching out before us. Each path appeared to beckon with its own mysteries.“Perhaps we should seek out the elders in Eldoria,” I suggested, recalling the Keeper’s wisdom about gathering knowledge. “They possess insights and histories that could empower our journey.”Faelan raised an eyebrow, his expression animated. “The Elders of Light! They are the ancient wisdom bearers of our realm. If anyone can guide us in nurturing our newfound abilities, it’s them.”The prospect of meeting the Elders sparked
Seraphina’s POVAs the sun climbed higher, illuminating the glade with its warm embrace, I felt a shift within me a surge of determination to honor the promise we had made. Each whisper of the wind felt like a gentle nudge, guiding us toward our fate. Althea and Faelan, standing resolute beside me, reflected the same resolve. Our journey together had transformed the weights we carried into wings.“Let’s move forward,” I said, my voice steady. “We’ve tapped into the essence of our light, but we must now discover how to apply it.”Althea nodded, her eyes glistening with excitement. “There’s so much to uncover, and I can't shake the feeling that the forest still holds secrets meant for us alone.”With renewed purpose, we ventured deeper into the heart of the forest. The air crackled with energy as we followed an unseen path one that felt alive and woven with magic. Each step we took resonated with the bond we had forged amidst adversity; it was as if the forest itself acknowledged our co
