Chapter 1 Kicked Out

Author: Night Eleven
The roads were soaked. It had been raining for a whole day in Southbury.

Aria Carver's backpack was thrown out of the door by the butler in disdain.

"Mr. Kent doesn't want to see you, Ms. Carver. So, I have to say some words in his stead. Your birth parents are in the countryside. Your father's last name is Carver.

"The Kent family mistook you for their daughter in the past. But now that Ms. Lily has been found, I hope that you can do what's best for everyone and stop contacting the Kent family."

The butler, Alfred Dun, took out a card. "Here's 10,000 dollars. Mr. Kent instructed me to give it to you as compensation."

"No need."

Aria didn't even look at the card as she picked up her backpack.

Alfred looked at her in disdain. She didn't want the money? Was she acting tough?

She should really think about her circumstances. The Kents had found their real daughter. They wouldn't want a country bumpkin like her anymore. She was an embarrassment.

"As you wish, Ms. Carver." Alfred closed the door with a loud bang.

Aria paid him no mind. She only took a black backpack when she left the Kent Residence. She stood proud and tall. She left the Kent Residence without taking anything that didn't belong to her.

The rain falling on her made her look a little defeated. The people on the second floor saw her and started snickering. They didn't care if she could hear them.

"She's finally gone."

"I know right? I was so afraid that she might not want to go back to the countryside, and would try to stay with us."

Aria didn't respond, but a sneer appeared on her face.

Were the Kents ignorant? Yes, they were.

Aria chewed on a gummy absentmindedly. She had a head of long and glossy black hair. Her face was a little pale, but it didn't make her look weak. Instead, she looked quite mysterious.

At the same time, the Carver family was having an international meeting at their home in Janovin.

Warren Carver sat at the head of the table. He held a cane in his hands and looked really intimidating.

"It's been so many years. Is there still no leads on your sister?"

He was talking to his six grandsons.

The Carver family was the wealthiest in Janovin. The six scions of the family were all very remarkable people.

Any single one of them would cause a stir if they went out in the open.

At that moment, they all looked saddened. Longing and sorrow filled their eyes. They were the ones that lost their youngest sister back then.

She was only a baby when she went missing. She never caused a fuss and was always very adorable.

It had been 18 years. They had never stopped looking since. All the leads went cold at a secluded village in the mountains. They had no idea how many times the human traffickers moved their baby sister around.

"Grandpa, let's keep looking. We will definitely find her!"

Suddenly, a chubby man, Frank Levin, rushed into the room with some documents in his hand. He panted as he said, "Mr. Chairman! Little Ms. Carver has been found!"

Warren, who was usually composed, stood up immediately. He was so excited that his hands were shaking.

"Where is she? Send someone to pick her up right now!"

Frank handed the documents over. "She's in Southbury. We're still looking into her exact location."

"Then let's go to Southbury! Get a car ready!" Warren was very excited.

It was evening in Southbury. Aria, who had been kicked out of the Kent Residence, didn't go to the countryside.

She waited for the rain to stop before she headed back to the place she was staying at. It was a very insignificant neighborhood.

When she was parking her car, someone called out to her, "You're back, Aria."

"Yeah. I'm back." Aria smiled.

Maria Goode, a fruit vendor, handed her an apple. "I haven't seen you in two weeks. No one else could help me with my arthritis."

"Don't forget about me, Aria. My hand always trembles when I'm playing chess."

Everyone knew that Aria was a very beloved figure in the Elmer district. Some retired government officials loved to chat with her as she treated their conditions.

The place might look plain and simple on the surface, but there was more than met the eye.

The person who talked about his hand was Jasper Garland, a former national chess champion.

Aria didn't delve into the identities of the other residents. She chose to live in this neighborhood because it was a nice place.

There was no way one could finish carving the Four Celestials in just a day or two. The Four Celestials brought blessings from all directions, appearing only where they were needed. So why would her past self have left carvings like these here? Aria rubbed her temples. "I can't recall anything about this place at all."Landon smiled. "It's fine. Let's keep going."They continued down the steps at an unhurried pace. The stairs radiated a chill that seeped through the soles of their shoes.Aria's gaze drifted to the walls on either side. They were covered in dense carvings of rare and exotic beasts, creatures even she had never seen before. Some resembled deer with four antlers, each etched with vine-like patterns. Their round eyes seemed fixed on anyone descending the stairs.Others had eagle wings and the bodies of tigers, their claws sharp and wings spread as if ready to dive at any moment.Other beasts were fully scaled, but with human-like faces and solemn expressions. Those words seemed to come alive, glowing faintly with a soft golden light that carried an air of unquestionable authority.Aria's heart stirred as she studied the sentence. Judging by how the palace seemed to be waiting for someone fated, Aria figured that someone might be herself. On the palace plaza, several bodies lay impaled by long spears. Blood crept through the cracks in the stone, pooling into dark red stains. The air was heavy with the smell of iron. The horrifying scene from moments before silenced the once-noisy crowd. Everyone held their breath, not daring to step forward. The golden words, "Those fated may enter. All others will die," shone brilliantly. They were like a pair of indifferent eyes, mocking the greed and foolishness of all who stood below.Someone stuttered, "W-What the hell is this place?""That was terrifying. They were just fine moments ago, yet…""No wonder so few people ever make it out of the Southbore Sanctum. This is as far as it goes."Whis

Yaphet had apprentices here too, so people definitely noticed he was missing. Homer's face went hard. He looked around at everyone and spoke in a flat voice, "Yaphet is dead." "Dead?" The Southbore Sect apprentice's jaw dropped. "What do you mean?" "He was never really one of us. Or maybe he was, once." A chill crept into Homer's voice. "He'd been hiding among us for years. This whole trip to the sanctum was a scheme he plotted. "He teamed up with the leaders of three hidden sects, plus missionaries from Athara's Crimsory Sect and fortune tellers from Krowo. They tried to kill us." "What? There were three hidden sect leaders, fortune tellers, and missionaries? Put those people together, and they could level mountains!" The words hit like a bomb going off. The whole crowd erupted. "He was a spy? No way..." "Yaphet spent his whole life at Mount Southbore! How could he be working against us?" "I can't believe Yaphet would do something like that!" Shocked murmurs spread

The white figure's voice turned frosty. "I know you speak for Heaven, but does Heaven understand what it's like to be human? Does it know what lies in people's hearts? "Does it see the evil that men do? It doesn't. As long as the three realms follow the rules and don't upset the natural order, Heaven couldn't care less. So let me ask you again—is Heaven being fair at all?" Landon's eyes dimmed. "That's not a question I can answer." "I know you can't." The white figure looked up slowly with those cold eyes. "But I still think Heaven is being unjust. It has the power to change things and make a difference. Yet it always looks the other way." She took a step forward. Her ghostly figure flickered in the air, but even that couldn't hide the sharp, untouchable energy radiating off her. "I dedicated myself to practicing the arcane. I never hurt anyone. I just wanted to reach the peak of the Great Decator. "But not only did Heaven throw so many obstacles in my way, it totally cut m

Broken, fragmented voices flooded Aria's mind. Every word thrummed with overwhelming Decator energy, and her soul shook so hard she thought her head might split open. She'd never felt anything like this. Clutching her skull, she doubled over as the sheer weight of it all threatened to tear her apart from the inside. A strangled cry escaped her lips as her knees hit the ground. "Ah!" "Aria!" Seeing that made Homer panic. He lunged forward to pull her free, but there seemed to be an invisible wall stopping him from going forward. He pushed against it, straining with everything he had, but couldn't move an inch. Landon stood still with his hands clasped behind his back, but his eyes never left Aria. For just a moment, worry flickered in those dark depths. He knew what this was—it was her opportunity and trial. No one could step in to help her through it. The white figure floating above seemed to notice Aria's pain. A pale hand rose slowly, pointing down at her through empty ai

Landon's calm gaze swept over the three of them. There was no killing intent or contempt in his eyes. They were just empty and still as stagnant water. His true strength was a mystery to everyone. Vaelor, Raimor, and Sereth kept their eyes locked on Landon. He still stood there with his hands clasped behind his back, that strange invisible barrier around him unmoved. He seemed oblivious to the danger Aria was facing. Confusion stirred in all three of them at the same time. If Landon really had the terrifying power that Sylas claimed, why was he just standing there watching Aria fight two opponents alone? What was he thinking? "Hmph. I don't know if Landon has some kind of hang-up or if he's just merciless, but if he's not going to make a move, we don't have to waste time on him." Raimor's voice was low and hard. He let his sword drop until the tip touched the ground, sending bits of gravel scattering. "Aria is our real target here. We'll kill her first and then figure out how
