67. Love Confession

"Do you know why I take you here?" Cayden whispered again.

Emily shook her head. "Why?"

"Because you barely know me. All this time, I've only seen you from afar. When we met in France, I still pretended to be Prince. Now ...." Cayden took Emily's hand.

"Only now can I show you who I truly am. I don't want you to be confused and doubtful anymore, Emily. I want you to know me well. I am a man who's trying to be cool, so I can meet you again without shame or regret."

Emily bit her lip. Her tears would spill if she didn't do that.

"I admit I was confused. But I never doubted you, Cay," she replied in a hoarse voice. "I know, you're the boy I had always been waiting for—someone I believed would come, someone who would keep his promises."

While taking a deep breath, Emily looked at the wall that displayed Cayden's journey of life. There were only pictures of the people closest to him on that side. One of them was hers.
