"What?" Charles' voice was sharp, disbelief flashing across his face.

Suzanne didn’t even bother to repeat herself. She simply turned, her tone casual as she tossed over her shoulder, "I’ll send the divorce papers tomorrow."

That should have been the end of it. But of course, Charles wasn’t done.

"Are you aware, Suzanne, that I had no hand in drugging you?" His voice carried a strange urgency now. "This is the first time I’m even hearing about it."

She stopped mid-step, then turned back to him, completely unfazed. "And?"

Charles blinked. "And?"

Suzanne let out a sharp laugh, shaking her head. "What, you think I should forgive you because you weren’t the one personally slipping the pills into my drugs?" She scoffed, crossing her arms. "Whether you did it or not, Charles, I’m divorcing you."

Charles’ expression darkened. His gaze flickered to Liam, standing silently beside her, and something inside him snapped.

"Because of this brat?" He let out a harsh laugh, stepping closer. "Why am I

  • The Heiress Escape   A family finally whole

Eloise barely registered the nurse’s words as she was led through the quiet hospital corridors. Her heart pounded, her fingers trembling as she clutched her bag. The scent of antiseptic filled the air, sharp and sterile, but it did nothing to steady her nerves. The moment she reached the VIP room, she hesitated. Her hand hovered over the handle, her breath shallow. Then, gathering every ounce of courage, she pushed the door open. And there he was.Leo Carter sat upright in the hospital bed, staring blankly into space, lost in a world beyond the four walls that confined him."Leo?" Her voice was thick with emotion, barely above a whisper.Slowly, he turned. His lips curled into a faint smile. "Come on, Eloise. Come sit with me, darling."Relief crashed over her like a tidal wave. He was alive. He was here. His spirit hadn’t left him yet.She rushed to his side, sitting beside him and taking his hand in hers. "How are you feeling? Have you eaten? Should I call the doctor?" The words tum

"You couldn’t stop the damn surgery? Are you out of your mind?" Finn roared into the phone, his fury barely contained."I'm sorry, Mr. Carter," Dr. Chris stammered, his voice tight with unease.Silence. Heavy. Unforgiving.Finn exhaled sharply, running a hand over his face. "Who’s bringing the heart to Liam?"Dr. Chris hesitated before answering. "One of his colleagues from his former hospital in Los Angeles, I believe."Finn clenched his jaw, his patience running thin. "Listen to me carefully—I don’t care what you have to do, but that surgery must not go well. Do you understand? Handle it on your end. I’ll take care of things from mine. Now, send me the name of the airport he’s arriving at.""Yes, sir!" Dr. Chris replied hastily.Finn ended the call, his mind already racing with the next move. ---Liam moved through the hospital corridors in his lab coat, his medical team following closely. He checked on his patients, offering them warm smiles."How are we feeling today, Mr. Gomez?"

"Nina, come on in," Suzanne said, her voice calm but firm.Nina stepped inside, closing the office door behind her before taking a seat in front of Suzanne’s desk. The room fell into a brief silence, broken only by the soft clacking of Suzanne’s keyboard. She finished typing, saved her work, and then finally looked up.Leaning back in her chair, she folded her arms. "I called you here because there’s something I want to confirm."Nina arched a brow. "Go on.""How long have you been working with my father?" Suzanne asked, her tone unreadable.Nina blinked at the question, surprised. "A very long time."Suzanne nodded slowly, as if weighing her response. "Cool." Then, without hesitation, she asked, "Can I trust you, Nina?"Nina’s expression darkened slightly. "On what exactly?""On becoming my closest ally."The air in the room shifted. A heavy silence settled between them.Nina sat up straighter, her fingers tapping lightly against the armrest of her chair. Suzanne slowly lowered her phone, her heart pounding as she processed Paul’s words. She lifted her gaze to Liam, who stood in the living room, watching her with quiet patience."You bought my company," she said, more in awe than disbelief.Liam didn't deny it. "I did."A slow exhale left her lips as she stepped forward. "You were the one who kept it in my name? The one who made sure I could get it back?"Liam shrugged, his expression calm. "I knew how much it meant to you. Selling it was necessary at the time, but losing it permanently? That was never an option."Something warm and unexpected curled in her chest. "Liam…" She shook her head, her voice softer now. "Why didn’t you tell me?""You had enough to deal with," he answered simply. "I wasn’t going to add to that."Suzanne stared at him, realizing for the hundredth time just how deeply he understood her. How effortlessly he stepped in—not to control, not to take over, but to protect. She swallowed, a small smile tugging at the co

A Few Days Later – The FuneralLiam was nowhere to be found. The Carter estate had gone forward with the funeral arrangements without him, and now, dressed in mourning clothes, the family stood in the graveyard as Leo Carter’s casket was lowered into the ground. The air was thick with whispers, the gathered crowd buzzing with speculation."Liam Carter didn’t even show up for his own father’s funeral?""Shameful. No matter what happened between them, he should be here.""Maybe he knows he’s guilty.""Guilty? Of what?""Who knows? The chairman dies right after surgery? And the son who operated on him disappears?""That doesn’t prove anything.""But it sure as hell looks suspicious."Despite the murmurs, the priest continued his prayers, unaffected by the tension rising around him.Meanwhile, standing to the side, Suzanne felt her phone vibrate in her hand. She glanced down and saw Rose’s message:"I can’t find anything in his room either."Her heart clenched in frustration.Quickly, she

Armstrong took a slow, deliberate step forward. Then another.Nina instinctively backed away, her pulse thundering in her ears. But there was nowhere to go.Her legs hit the edge of the bed, and she tumbled onto it, gripping the sheets as her chest rose and fell in panicked breaths.Armstrong let out a dark chuckle, shaking his head. “You know, Nina, I took you in when no one else would. I gave you a home, a life, a family. Your own father—my brother—was too weak to provide for you, but I…” His voice hardened, “I made sure you had everything.”He took another step, his towering presence suffocating.“And how did you repay me? Hm?” His voice dropped, laced with something dangerous. “By sneaking into my bedroom like a common thief?”Nina’s grip on the document tightened, but Armstrong was faster.“And you chose to betray me?” His roar filled the room as he ripped the paper from her hands. His eyes flickered down to the document, scanning its contents, his fingers tightening around the e

Nina nodded, then settled onto the couch across from Suzanne. The casual small talk faded as Suzanne’s expression turned serious.“I hope my father didn’t catch you.”Nina scoffed, leaning back lazily. "Oh, he did. Walked right in on me in his room.”Suzanne tensed. "And?"“I handled it.”A grin broke across Suzanne’s lips. "That's why I call you smart."Nina leaned forward, her expression sharpening. "After you texted that he was close to the house, I put the document back into the wardrobe exactly how I found it. But I took pictures—everything, including where he hid it. That way, you can retrieve it yourself when the time is right.”Suzanne took the phone from Nina’s outstretched hand, scrolling through the images. And there it was.Her mother’s will. Her hands clenched around the device as her pulse quickened. Charles was ripped away from Suzanne so violently he stumbled, nearly knocking over the coffee table. Before he could regain his footing, a fist smashed into his jaw, sending him sprawling to the floor.Liam.Suzanne gasped, clutching her throat as she struggled to sit up. Pain throbbed through her body, her cheek burned from his slap, but all she could focus on was Liam—standing over Charles, breathing hard, fists clenched so tightly his knuckles went white."You bastard," Liam growled, his voice like steel.Charles wiped the blood from his mouth, then laughed, low and bitter. "Look who finally showed up. The good doctor. The knight in shining armor."Liam didn’t answer. He didn’t need to. His rage spoke for him.Charles barely had time to smirk before Liam grabbed him by the collar and drove another brutal punch into his ribs. A choked sound escaped Charles as he doubled over."You touch her again, and I swear to God, I'll kill you," Liam seethed. His voice was low. Deadly.Charles

As Suzanne approached the end of the aisle, the murmurs in the venue softened, all eyes fixed on her. Then, she saw him.Her father, Armstrong Smith, stood just ahead, his expression a mix of pride and regret. His hands clenched at his sides, and for a fleeting moment, he looked as if he might falter. But when their eyes met, he stepped forward, his voice thick with emotion."I'm sorry, my baby," he murmured, his voice barely above a whisper. "If I could turn back time, I would have been a better father to you."Suzanne’s lips curved into a soft smile, her heart lighter than she ever thought possible. "I've forgiven you long ago," she said sincerely. "I just wanted you to understand what family truly means. Thank you for being here."His throat bobbed as he swallowed hard. "Can you do me the honor?" He opened his arm in invitation.Without hesitation, Suzanne slipped her hand into the crook of his arm. Suzanne stood before the mirror, her breath catching as she took in her reflection. The gown was exquisite—an elegant, off-the-shoulder masterpiece with intricate lace detailing that cascaded down the bodice and into a flowing train. The soft ivory fabric shimmered under the light, catching every delicate movement. Her hair was styled in a graceful updo, loose strands framing her face, while a cathedral-length veil trailed behind her, completing the look of a bride straight out of a dream. Her eyes sparkled, not just with excitement but with a deep, unwavering love. Today was the day she became Mrs. Carter."I can't believe I'm getting married to your son, Mrs. Carter," Suzanne said, turning toward Eloise, who stood watching her with warm, motherly pride.Eloise smiled, stepping closer. Prison Visiting CenterLeo Carter stepped into the stark, dimly lit visiting area, the scent of disinfectant lingering in the air. The walls were gray, the chairs metal and bolted to the floor, and a thick pane of glass separated him from the person he had come to see—his son, Finn Carter.Finn sat on the other side, wearing an orange prison jumpsuit. His once confident and cunning eyes were now shadowed with exhaustion and regret. His knuckles were bruised, likely from a fight, and there was an emptiness about him that hadn’t been there before. He stared at Leo through the glass, eyes cautious, waiting for him to speak first.Leo picked up the phone attached to the divider. Slowly, Finn did the same."You actually came," Finn muttered, voice hoarse.Leo exhaled, his grip tightening around the receiver. "Of course, I did. You're my son, Finn."Finn scoffed, shaking his head. "Your son? If I was truly your son, I wouldn’t be sitting in here, would I?" His voice dripped with bitterness,

The tension in the boardroom was suffocating. The long, polished mahogany table gleamed under the overhead lights, but all eyes were locked on the man at the head of the table—Armstrong Smith.Suzanne sat opposite him, poised and unwavering. She was dressed for war, her black blazer crisp, her expression unreadable. Next to her, Nina leaned back lazily, one leg crossed over the other, exuding quiet confidence.Armstrong, however, looked anything but confident. His fingers tapped impatiently against the table, his jaw tight. He had built this company, shaped it, controlled it. And now, his own daughter was challenging him in front of the entire board. One of the directors, an older man with silver hair, cleared his throat. “Ms. Smith, you’ve called this emergency meeting with serious allegations against your father. We need to know exactly what you’re claiming.”Suzanne didn’t hesitate. She slid a folder onto the table and met every board member’s gaze before speaking. “I am claiming t

Judge Hansel studied Attorney Barnes carefully, his fingers tapping against the bench. “How do you know that, when the first witness was lying when she stated she had no relationship with Charles Langford?”Barnes adjusted his glasses and stepped forward. “I have multiple pieces of evidence to prove she is lying. If I may, Your Honor.”The judge gave a firm nod. “Proceed.”Barnes walked over to his table and retrieved a small recording device. Turning to face the courtroom, he held it up.“This,” he announced, his voice strong and deliberate, “is an audio recording of Charles Langford and Sarah Thompson.”The room fell into an eerie silence.Charles’ smirk vanished instantly.Barnes pressed play. The courtroom filled with Charles’ voice—low, menacing, unmistakable.“You think you can defy me, Sarah?”A loud slap. A muffled cry."You whore," he spat, "Do you think I’m asking you?" He turned to Suzanne, who was seated beside him, her posture rigid, but her eyes determined. She’d come too far to let this fall apart now.Greg walked toward the witness stand, and everyone in the room shifted their attention. The door creaked open, and Sarah Thompson entered, her heels clicking sharply against the polished floor.
