Chapter 26 Locked in a room with Atlas

I never thought the moon could be so beautiful, casting shadows that seemed to reach out like branches from a large tree. But here I am, trapped in its eerie glow, my heart pounding like a drum behind my chest. Life had a funny way of always keeping more on my feet. There’s always a surprise, something that I can’t even predict.

Atlas stood beside me, his presence a faint glimmer of comfort in the darkness. His hand brushes against mine as he adjusts his posture, crossing his hands over his chest. I glance up at him, searching for answers in his stormy, glowy eyes. But all I find is uncertainty, mirroring my own. I could no longer keep quiet.

"Do you know who did this?" I ask, my voice barely a whisper. The answer was obvious, especially in the way Atlas was tense beside me. But he didn't say anything, his jaw clenched tight as his fist was. His veins were visible, popping out against the low light.
