“Are you insane?” Jemal hisses at Lavi. “What the hell did you do?”
The whole town is on alert after someone allegedly destroyed half the castle. Soldiers are prowling the city, looking for Lavi and his mate. Lady Ariel has been found dead in her apartment in the inn. Silver and blood had gushed out of her mouth and the healer declared her dead. Her omeg maid stated that she had been feeling unwell after receiving a drink from Lady Vanya at the ball but no one else saw Vanya doing anything like that.
But no one will dare to step up and take her side.
Jemal is utterly confused. Lavi had instructed him to take in two children of unknown origins and now, he brought his mate, all bloodied and injured, to Jemal's apartment!
“Do you have any
At the crack of dawn, there is a loud knock on the door. Jemal is startled by the rough voices outside and it seems that the royal guards have caught up to them. The two boys are cowering in a corner, scared that the guards will attack them.“Do not worry!” He assures them. “Pretend to be my slaves and do not do anything!”“B-But…” Same glances at the room where Anna and Lavi are resting. Jemal is worried too but he cannot hold off the guards.“Open up!” One of the guards outside demands. “Otherwise, we’ll break down the door!”“Do you not know that I am a diplomat?” Jemal snarls. “I will not open the door to some rude omega like yourself!”
Back in the Faikan palace, the Emperor is in the throne room. He is anxious about the events which took place while Moira is sitting next to him. She puts a hand on her mate’s arm.“Calm down,” she tells him. “I am sure that we will find him.”“Find him?” Phillippe snaps. “What will we do after finding him? Look at this bloody place!”He points at the ruins. The palace is barely standing and all the faes in the kingdom are working to restore it, but even their powers are not enough to fully repair the castle. They have all seen the destruction that Lavi is capable of and frankly, it scares Phillippe to no end.The truth is clear to him now. He is sure that the girl he sent to kill Lavi is his mate. Otherwise why
“The former Emperor had gone to Soloma and tracked her down,” Lavi narrates. “My mother used to live in a remote village. She was the most beautiful woman there. Her sparkling blue eyes used to make many people fall for her but she was a priestess in the local temple. She had taken a vow of celibacy because she was hiding a secret.”“What secret?” Anna probes.“She is a direct descendant of the Dragons,” Lavi reveals. “Our ancestors were among the Dragons who stayed faithful to the Moon Goddess. They fought against the treacherous gods but were defeated. Some of them escaped, though, and hid their powers. Over time, they stopped using their powers and blended in with the humans in order to keep their existence a secret. Many Dragons were being hunted for their powers or for their perceived betrayal in the wa
A bright bonfire is burning brightly in the middle of the dark room. Several figures in dark hoods are standing around the fire, waiting for someone to arrive. The whole room has an eeriness to it because a bloodlust is visible among the people standing there. Their eyes are dark, filled with hatred for the world which has wronged them. They are ruthless, their hands smeared with blood of innocent people.A thin girl steps forward, impatient at the delay.“Where is he?” Nine scowls. “We are already late! I need to head for Faika!”“Be patient, Nine,” an elderly man says. He is nicknamed Three and he is one of the oldest members of the guild. His hawk-like eyes are calm and he is the only one who is more tame compared to the others.“I can’t be patient!” Nine snaps at him. “Ace is mated to that Crown Prince and now, she’s on the run after destroying half the castle! Her clan is dead and now we are stuck with hunting her down. It’s not gonna be easy at all!”“Ace is merely suffering the
Lavi and Anna rest in the cave for the whole day. Anna managed to recover from her injuries and the color on her face is also returning. She can walk as well albeit slower than usual. Lavi stood guard at the cave, not sleeping a wink. Anna sometimes wonders why he does not sleep. Is it because of his paranoia? Or something else?“I can stand guard,” she offers. “You should sleep. You did not sleep for days!”“I can sleep at will,” Lavi mutters but his eyes are quite reddish. He is exhausted and even though sleep sounds nice, he knows that he has to hold on until they reach Soloma. Anna, however, is not going to let it go.“Rest!” She scolds him. “No one can stay up this long. Not even you. I can see that you are tired. I promise, I can handle myself.”But Lavi shakes his head. “It will be night time soon and we will be traveling in the dark,” he explains. “I cannot fall asleep now. I can hold on for a day or two but I will not be using my powers for a while. It will only make me even
“AHHHH!” Both of them scream and make a run for it. The worm is at least fifty feet high and very thick. It lets out a high pitched cry which nearly bleeds Lavi and Thena’s ears but they do not stop running. The giant worm slams itself on the ground, missing Lavi by inches. It has a foul stench of rotten eggs and swamp, nearly making Lavi sick. Thena manages to detect him and pulls him out of safety but the worm is slithering behind them at an incredibly fast pace.“Lavi, get on my back!” Thena shouts. “It may be big but I can run faster! Just guide me, okay?”Lavi does not waste time and hops on Thena’s back. “Go right!” he orders. Thena makes a turn to the right, running at incredible speed. Thanks to her hybrid nature, she can run faster than average Lycans and she is using her senses to find her way. The worm is still on their tail, its foul smell filling up their nostrils. Thena tries to ward off the smell and focuses on finding a way out of this mess. “Sandworms cannot move b
Back in Pir, Timur is thinking hard. He heard the disturbing news about how Lady Ariel was allegedly killed by the Crown Prince and his mistress. After the news broke, he heard that Anna had been taken captive but Lavi helped her escape and now they are on the run. “How am I going to find them?” He mutters to himself. Should I inform Emperor Alexei? He attended the Ball on behalf of the Emperor but little did he know that he would run into the long lost Princess! Emperor Alexei was unable to attend the Ball because his mate, Roseanne, has been ill due to her pregnancy. Telling them about this issue will sour the relationship between Ezealyra and Faika. “I will have to tell Leo about this,” he decides. “There is no other way. But first, I need to investigate this issue.” He instantly leaves to visit the now ruined castle. The Emperor and Empress are still living there albeit in makeshift tents. They are overseeing the repair work but it will take them months to build it back to it
“Hic!” Anna lets out an inadvertent hiccup. Lavi pours water in a glass and offers it to her. “Here you go,” he says and puts the glass in her hands. “You can rest. I will stay up all night and-” Anna puts the glass away and gently touches his shoulder. To Lavi’s surprise, she pushes him on the bed and lies beside him. “What the hell are you doing?” He frowns. “This is better,” she murmurs. “You need rest and so do I. It is best if we rest together on this bed.” Lavi can see her face turning red in embarrassment. Anna is suddenly feeling very shy and fidgets a little. The bed is quite small; so small that their bodies are in close proximity. He cannot help but gaze at her affectionately. Unlike her usual fiery self, she is more self aware and shy as if she is also feeling the same as him. Her dark hair is slightly falling on her face and she tries to shake it off. To Anna’s surprise, Lavi’s warm fingers brush her hair away and place them behind her ear. “Are you really okay w
