Chapter 18: Indifferent Thoughts

My head struck, as his words were ringing in my ears, daring me to question my beliefs. I was desperately searching for some lie in his eyes, but it was nowhere to see. He was watching me with an uncertain yet calm face as he was seeping me thoroughly in his heart.

My hands were shaking uncontrollably, scaring me with my upcoming, sudden future. Gathering courage, I yanked my hand from his grasp, and he let me. Still staring at me as I was his last piece of sanity left behind. His eyes were speaking instead of his mouth. Everything was suffocating for me to understand.

I ran from there, pushing the door wide open. My heart was aching to turn around to see him, and I did. He didn’t move at all nor tell anyone to capture me. But he was calm as he was concerned about me.

He was insecure about it; he wasn’t sure what I would do with his proposal. I had already lost my mom and rogues have stolen my father’s life too, leaving me an orphan in this unseen world, not knowing which way I should choose to follow my destiny. But, I never thought that the moon goddess would guide me this way by surprising me by having a mate, which I only envied others for experiencing. “Do you think you can bribe me?” He tightened his hold over my hand in possessiveness. His flickering eyes were talking a lot on behalf of him, but his mouth was shut as they had betrayed him. He took a step towards me, but sto

Chapter 20: Confessing InsecuritiesI wasn’t expecting Rowan to give me a brief tour of this enchanting forest. It was wonderful to roam here and there with no aim and just being with him. It was feeling like a tiny sun had erupted in my soul, making me more alive than I was.Everything was refreshing; the flow of wind, the chattering of birds, and the breathtaking group of deer on luscious grass. He brought me to see a special deer which is only found in this region of the world. I never read about them in the palace’s library. They must be very well secured here, away from the rest of the world.Their shining skin felt like a gold in the light of the descending Sun. Their long and strong horns make them look divine. We stopped there for a while, even after they left the place. It was so relaxing to just lay under the tree basking in the warmth of his arms watching the sun hiding in Ava

Chapter 21: Struggle To KnowI was overflowing up to the sky as Rowan gave me a chance and asked if I wanted him as his mate. I wasn’t sure how many of the alpha give their mates this kind of respectful opportunity. Maybe he gave it to me because I don’t feel the bond between us and thought I could reject him. At least he considered my feelings and accepted me with my flaws. Not experiencing the bond creates a complex inside my mind, homing a vulnerability that he will leave me one day for not forging a bond of understanding. I don’t want to lose in his eyes as a mate. I want him to be proud of me. Only his enormous hand around me was keeping me sane in this world. He wasn’t speaking much, but his hands were continuously stroking my stomach delicately.Everything seems brighter than before in

If he tells me I could have helped him with whatever problem he was in, then what’s the problem if he let me know about it? What is he hiding from me?“But, Rowan, I-”“Go, rest for a while before we will have dinner together.” He didn’t let me complete and ordered in the sweetest possible tone, caressing my cheek with one hand, which wasn’t pleasant for me to listen to at all. He walked into the bedroom and put me down on the bed, as I was going to break if he used a paltry force.“I am really sorry, Rowan. I never wanted to harm you.” He sat beside me, stroking my forehead gently as nothing happened. I was struggling to control my tears, but his touch was daring to break every obstacle in his way to my heart.“I know. Are you alright?” His question filled me with shame. I turned away from him. Tears were dripping all over my cheeks, drawing trains behind. He lay beside me, holding me in his arms.

It felt like he was more worried about something else than my training or fast growing powers. As accepted, he didn’t tell me what he had planned to tackle because of me. He promised and said he would look after me. The moment I opened my eyes, I saw his uneasiness about having me as a mate, but it wasn’t me. He was surprised, but didn’t hate me; I felt like he hates the word mate more than having one. Orson taught me some basics, as I was thinking it was magic, but it wasn’t. Orson rushed over to me, standing beside me, unleashing my silver knife in his hand protectively. His sharp gaze was looking around for any hidden enemies.“Silas? Didn’t you want to go to work?” Aunt Ryane’s confused tone shifted my attention. I turned to see the fuming face of the Silas heading towards us with his death steps. The reason for his anger was unknown to me.Aunt was shuddering, clutching her wrists tight to stand straight. My face paled witnessing the dozens of wolves launched out of the trees, swiftly approaching us with narrowing their eyes. They didn’t give us a chance to react, and we were trapped between them.
