Chapter 3

This morning I went to campus, after consulting with my supervisor and also with Edward. The place for my research is the village of Ramberg, one of the villages on the island of Lofoten. One of the remote islands in the land of pieces of paradise, Norway. He said, on the island, there are still many places that save history. I'm quite happy with it, but somehow I feel like it's going to be a long journey. It's long enough, that I'm confused about whether to go or not.

"Kirey?"

I looked at the figure of the girl with thick glasses who came over to me, I was still staring at her. This girl feels quite familiar, I looked at her. "Who you are?"

"I'm Vira, you don't remember?"

"Vira?" I repeated, the girl nodded. I don't know if my memory is mostly short-term memory. Or maybe I don't know this girl, but I don't remember who this girl is. As soon as I was about to ask again, I suddenly remembered. "Vira? Why?" I said. I finally remembered this girl as my best friend since the first semester of college here. But due to being busy these few months, we seem to have lost contact so I can forget about it. Besides that, in the past few months, I have often participated in competitions even though it has become late.

"Finally your illness didn't recur Kirey hahaha, I thought you forgot about me. Even though we haven't seen each other for only 3 months!"

I scratched my head which was a little itchy, Vira knew about my illness. Illness often forgets people's names. I often remember Vira's name wrong while sitting in the first year. But this girl never gets angry when I call her name wrong. "You remember that too!"

"Uh, what's wrong?" I asked Vira again.

"Have you found your place for research?"

I nodded, "I'm in the Ramberg!" I cried, but it wasn't just me. But also with Vira. I looked at Vira with a furrowed brow, the girl was the same.

"Wait, don't tell me we're the same!" I exclaimed while looking at him with a look of pleasure, surprise, and confusion. As far as I know, I'm the only one willing to go there. That's because Edward wanted to accompany me. If Edward had refused my previous request, I'd probably have looked for another, safer location.

"Yes, I will also research there!"

"Finally, I have a friend besides Edward too" I exclaimed happily and immediately hugged Vira. The girl also returned my hug and smiled happily.

Hearing a strange voice calling out to me, I let go of our warm embrace earlier. I turned around and looked at who was approaching me. He's Harry, I glared at him. Still upset about last night, before the man left the house. He still has time to hit me on the head. I don't like anyone hitting my head, for some reason and since when. But I'm sensitive when it comes to the head. "What is it?" I said as Harry sat in front of me and Vira too. I looked at Vira who had been watching Harry for a long time, as if in awe of Harry. I elbowed Vira's arm, the girl just gave me a grin.

"I heard you're going to research at the Ramberg, is that true?"

I nodded, then looked at Harry who sighed. "What's wrong? You don't have to come with me Harry, just take care of your doctoral lectures. So you can graduate quickly and be of use to humans!"

"you’re always the same! I'm just worried about you and Edward, you know the village is a bit dangerous and still famous for a lot of mystical things there. Here, read it for a moment!"

"You liar, when you look scared to go there too. Come on Kirey, I can help you cancel this. You can just take a research place around here, after all, it's just research! You can also pay their stomachs so they don't have to. join Kirey's research. It's much better for lazy people like you!"

"If there's nothing else you want to say, I'll go first, I'll be leaving tomorrow. So I'll prepare some clothes that I have to bring!"

"Kirey!" hold Harry while holding my arm "Sorry if I offended you. But this place is not good for you, I'm afraid you will also disappear as it happened 5 years ago. Do you think this will be as easy as you think?"

I looked at Vira who looked at Harry with admiration, why did Vira become like this? Don't tell me she seems interested in Harry, I then look at Harry. "Are you coming with me tomorrow Ra? If not, I'll be leaving first, you have time to decide whether to come or not, right?"

"Yeah, I think what Harry said is true Kirey. I'm going to the campus council at this time, I just want to change my research place. I'm too scared to disappear too, you must know my father and mother will also not agree if they find out about this!"

I gawked, looked at Vira's back who had drifted away, and immediately headed for the dean's room. I closed my eyes for a moment, then looked at Harry who was still holding me. I let go of Harry's hand "I'll still go Harry, I won't do that stupid thing!"

I stepped into the cafe in one corner of the alley, the location is quite hidden but close to my campus. As soon as I stepped inside, I noticed that several eyes were on me. I still think it's normal because that's a visitor's right too right? I sat at one corner of the table, then not long after one of the waiters approached me while giving the menu book.

"Are you human?"

Bruk—I quickly picked up the fallen menu book, I was too surprised to find this one waiter's question. I looked at him, then looked at some of the eyes that were also fixed on me. "Are you a Vampire?" I asked back

"Ahhh, sorry, so what would you like to order?" exclaimed the waiter immediately took his notebook

I shook my head, staring at the menu book. Then my choice was avocado juice, the right choice for this afternoon. After ordering, I returned the menu book, then started placing the laptop on the table. Strangely, I felt that they—the cafe patrons—still kept an eye on me. I frowned strangely, why do I feel strange air around me? I quickly looked up and just realized that there was another figure sitting next to my seat.

My gaze is fixed on the figure's firm jaw, it feels like I've met him before. But where? I immediately returned my gaze when the man looked at me out of the corner of his eye. Even though he didn't move at all, I noticed that he seemed to know that I was stealing glances at him. A few minutes later, the waiter took my order and came back right away. I took the opportunity to glance at the man. Her skin is so white and very contract with the black clothes she wears.

I refocused on my main purpose of coming here, doing my writing. I've always loved writing interesting stories. And because earlier I didn't have any idea to write a few words. I decided to go to the cafe. I just went here on a whim, and this is the first time I've seen this café. I've never been to this cafe before. I started to write a few words, but I felt the seat in front of me shift. I looked at the man who had left his place.

I looked at him, why did this man suddenly change places? I ignored it, especially when this man sat across from me. The gazes of several other people who had been staring at me for a long time were also no longer on me. The room is completely silent, there is no sound of any music. Even the waiter who was delivering some strange food did it without making a fuss.

"Are you Kireyna?"

I looked back at the figure in front of me, then nodded. "Do you know me? I have trouble remembering people's faces!" I said, at least I should tell him quickly, to avoid misunderstanding if he knows me.

"Not!"

I frowned, "No?" I repeated and the man nodded

"I only read your book, quickly put all your things in. Hurry up!" he exclaimed by writing in my book too.

"Why?" I cried softly.

The man just looked at me intently, and for some reason I obeyed him. I put all my things in the bag. Then he immediately pulled my hand out, I don't even know what happened. Because the man had put me in his car and quickly left from there. I looked back, I rolled my eyes when I saw that several people were running behind us. I shook my head, then closed my eyes. Then opened my eyes again, "ARGHHHH!" I shouted when I realized that the person who had been chasing us was right beside me.

Bruk— the windshield next to me cracked. I looked at the figure of the young man beside me who kept pressing the gas pedal of his car faster and faster. I felt that my blood seemed to have stopped flowing, this wasn't a dream.

"Handle!" he cried and suddenly turned the car around. I felt the world turning 360°, then it didn't just end there. The man also immediately pressed the gas pedal again and Bruk—the man hit the people earlier. Fresh blood immediately stained the windshield, not only there, I looked at the figure beside me who was about to come out. I held his hand and shook my head.

"Don't come out until I get back, got it?"

I nodded, then looked at him who came out. The man quickly separated the human body from his. I froze in my place, unable to say anything while trying not to cry. "Aaaah!" I shouted as the figure was thrown into the windshield with a separate body. I felt my head was so dizzy, then not long ago I emptied all my guts in this figure's car out of fear even just to get out. Then not long ago, I no longer know what happened. Because my head is dizzy and my stomach is still queasy seeing how that man separates the human, which I'm sure is not human from his body.

"Kirey?"

Harry who had just arrived immediately looked into the car "What happened to Kirey?"

"She entered the wrong cafe, I also don't know why she could see the cafe! Luckily I saw her name from the book in her bag, and immediately pulled her out before there were more of them!"

Harry just remained silent as he looked at Kirey who was already unconscious. The man moved the girl into his car, then looked at the figure. "Has Travold any sign of returning?"

The figure shook his head, "Not at all, I almost gave up on him. But let's talk about this later, I'll catch up behind you!"

"Well!" Harry shouted then quickly got into his car and headed straight for Edward's house who had been worried all this time. Harry glanced back occasionally, Logan's car still following them from behind. Then Harry looked at Kirey if she could even see the café for the astral beings. That meant that Kirey's condition was getting worse. Moreover, neither he nor Edward had found any clues about the type of Kirey. They only concluded for a while, that Kirey was the same as Edward.
