Everyone says that Eric Winslowe, the Alpha of Kalmoor Pack, loves me to the bone. He learns sign language for me because I can't hear, and he prepares to throw me a grand wedding after I thoroughly fall for him. However, after I regain my hearing, I catch him flirting and being intimate with Camilla Johnson, his maid. They're just in the room next to mine. During a banquet, he even takes advantage of my lack of hearing to brag. "She's just a pet that I have to alleviate the boredom. Alison is the only one I love. Still, I know she'll leave me if she finds out about this. "Thank God Alison can't hear. I won't let her find out about this even after we're married. Watch your mouths, everyone. Don't blame me for getting nasty if any of you bring this up to Alison." I sneer to myself. I want to tell him that he doesn't need to fear others exposing his cheating—I already know. He also doesn't need to look forward to our wedding because all that awaits him on that day is a corpse that looks just like me.

Chapter 1

"Alison, we have prepared a corpse identical to you as requested. It will be delivered to your wedding with the Alpha in ten days."After I paid the sorcerer and confirmed the details of the delivery once more, the tension that had gripped me for days finally eased a little.Bidding the sorcerer farewell, I took a deep breath and returned to the lively banquet hall. The moment I stepped inside, the once-boisterous room fell silent.Eric Winslowe approached me, eyes filled with concern as he signed, "Alison, you were in the restroom for so long. Are you feeling unwell? I'll take you back to rest right now."When I saw my reflection in his eyes, my heart clenched. But I forced myself to calm down as I signed back. "I'm fine. All of you can continue."The lively atmosphere returned to the banquet hall.Suddenly, one of Eric's friends spoke up. "Alpha, you and Alison are getting married soon. What are you planning to do with that maid of yours?"At those words, my fingers dug into ...

Chapter 2
I stood up, not wanting to hear another word of this disgusting conversation.Seeing that I was about to leave, Eric quickly got up as well, signing anxiously. He was asking what was wrong.I shook my head. "I'm tired. I want to go home and rest."Without waiting for his response, I walked straight out of the private room.As soon as I stepped out of the banquet hall, I saw the plaza used for the Kalmoor Pack's rituals. Right in the center, Eric had arranged candles to spell out, "Alison, marry me!"Passersby who saw it let out envious gasps."Oh my god, I heard that the Alpha's mate is deaf, so he planned this whole proposal just for her.""Mr. Winslowe must really love his mate. He's definitely going to be a great husband after they get married."I smiled bitterly. I would have reacted the same way—convinced of Eric's love, believing he would be a good husband.I was an orphan. When I was a child, I wandered from place to place, and the beatings and abuse from cruel people l

When I finished washing up and was about to go to bed, Eric returned."Alison, why didn't you wait for me tonight? Were you feeling down? I'm free tomorrow. Do you want me to go with you to try on wedding dresses?"Eric pulled me into his arms, ruffling my hair affectionately."I don't want to go. You can decide on the dress."I was leaving on the day of the wedding, anyway. The dress didn't matter.Sensing my indifference, Eric asked, "Alison, you don't seem excited about our wedding at all. Do you not want to marry me?"As I looked at the panic in his eyes, I wanted to tell him that "Yes, I didn't want to marry you."I turned away from him. "No, I'm just a little tired. Let's sleep early."The next morning, the wedding dress was delivered."Ms. Alison, our Alpha designed this wedding dress for you. Please check if anything needs to be altered."As soon as the tailor finished speaking, someone standing by immediately stepped forward to translate his words into sign language.

Chapter 4
The next day, Eric showed up, holding a bouquet of flowers. As I glanced at the flowers, my eyes were drawn to a few faint red marks peeking out from beneath his collar. How impressive. He could stand before me, covered in marks left by another woman, yet still put on an act of deep devotion.Perhaps it was guilt weighing on him, but Eric had been sticking to me like glue these past few days, refusing to leave my side. Even when I just wanted to step out for some fresh air, he insisted on coming along. As we walked through the marketplace, I spotted Camilla struggling against a man who was grabbing at her.The man, enraged, suddenly picked up a rock from the ground and hurled it at her.In a split second, Eric lunged forward and pulled Camilla tightly into his arms. The rock struck his shoulder. His face darkened, an expression of sheer fury contorting his features. Without hesitation, he grabbed the man by the collar and punched him hard in the face, each blow landing with a sic

Camilla wrapped her arms around Eric's neck. "What if Alison sees us…"Eric stopped moving and cut her off coldly, "She can't hear, and she won't find out. You are not allowed to bring this up to her."Camilla pouted. "I know, but I can't help feeling sad when I think about how she's about to become your wife while I'm nothing more than a secret lover.""Don't worry. I won't leave you even after I get married. I'll give you whatever you want, and I'll make sure you have anything Alison has," Eric reassured. The sounds coming from inside the room grew louder. I couldn't listen anymore as I turned and fled.It wasn't until dawn that I heard Eric quietly open the bedroom door.He pulled me into his arms gently and pressed a kiss to my forehead, whispering, "Alison, I love you so much. We'll be married in three days. We're going to spend the rest of our lives together."He spoke as if nothing had happened, completely unaware of the tear that slipped from the corner of my eye.The n

Eric couldn't believe that the person lying inside was his beloved Alison. He reached out, wanting to touch her face. But the moment his trembling fingers brushed against her cold cheek, he forced a smile, still clinging to his delusions."Alison, why is your body so cold? Let me warm you up, okay? Once you're warm, you'll wake up and look at me. Today is our wedding day. Are you really going to leave me here all alone?"One of the attendants stepped forward to support him. "Alpha, please accept our condolences. Ms. Monclair is gone."That sentence ignited Eric's fury. He shoved them away forcefully, his eyes bloodshot as he roared at them, "No, she's not dead! She's just sleeping!"The attendants fell silent for a moment before handing him a letter."When we arrived, we saw this beside her."Eric's hands trembled as he took the letter. The moment he opened it, Alison's elegant handwriting came into view."Eric, when I was 18, you pulled me out of my desolate world. You gave me

Chapter 7
As I stood at the ancient castle estate of the Lotharville Pack, I still felt a bit dazed.I never expected that in simply escaping from the Kalmoor Pack, I would unexpectedly find my biological parents.Just a few days ago, I had arrived safely at the Lotharville Pack's seaside house that the sorcerer had arranged for me. I had planned to spend the rest of my life there alone. The next day, when I went to the market to buy some things, a noblewoman kept staring at me for no reason.Out of politeness, I struck up a conversation with her."Good afternoon. Are you also here to try the famous tea?"She gave me a warm smile. "Yes, this tea is well-known. But most people prefer to add one sugar cube. You're only the second person I've seen who drinks it plain.""Who was the other person?" I asked curiously. She let out a chuckle. "My husband. You know, your eyes look remarkably like his."She told me that the moment she saw me, she felt an unexplainable sense of familiarity, which

Chapter 8
My parents held a grand banquet to introduce me—the child they had just found—to everyone. To please me, they even turned the event into a masquerade ball, which was more popular among young people.I let them dress me up without complaint, and I attended the ball in formal attire, wearing a mask.I hadn't expected to run into Eric, who was drinking alone among the many mingling guests.Though he was dressed according to the dress code of the ball, he was not wearing a mask. He sat in a corner, drinking, his face full of exhaustion.Beside him was one of his noble friends from the Kalmoor Pack, whom I had seen before. I overheard the man comforting him."Eric, Alison's death has nothing to do with you. Every nobleman in Ceflorn has a mistress. Besides, she was just a lowly orphan. If she hadn't been so petty, things wouldn't have ended up like this."It was only upon hearing that familiar name that Eric reacted."I was the one who broke our promise. I was the one who killed Ali

I sighed inwardly. My father shot a glance at the guards beside him, and they immediately stepped forward to escort Eric away, signaling for him to leave. Though Eric resisted, his drunken state left him no match for the guards, and he was soon taken out. With Eric gone, the banquet proceeded smoothly. However, when I passed by Gareth Hawthorne and Finn Valcrest—two of Eric's men—their expressions shifted to shock and anger."Alison, you're alive?""Why did you fake your death to escape the wedding? Have you any idea what you've done? Eric has been drinking himself into oblivion every day, neglecting the affairs of the pack. The elders are already preparing to impeach him!""Also, were you the one who had Aldric suppress the Kalmoor Pack? Why are you doing this?"Just as I was about to answer, my father stepped in front of me. "Do I need to explain myself for avenging my daughter? I heard you once mocked my daughter, calling her a powerless orphan. You looked down on her. Well, I

When she woke up again, Camilla knew the baby was gone. After confirming with the pack's healer that Camilla had miscarried the baby, Eric went to her bedside."Leave this pack. I never want to see you again."Every time he looked at Camilla, he was reminded of his betrayal and Alison's suicide, a pain that tore through his heart.Camilla had shouted at him, "Eric, do you think you're some kind of devoted lover now? You got rid of your child and kicked me out, and now you're mourning your so-called true love all by yourself? I never begged you to take me the first time we slept together! You were the one who couldn't resist temptation and pinned me beneath you!"And just a few nights ago, you were the one who came to my room in the middle of the night! I never forced you into anything!"Her words struck a nerve, which enraged Eric. He didn't even give the recovering Camilla time to rest as he ordered his guards to throw her out immediately, ignoring her weakened state. For the n
