As Brian shut the thick steel door he gestured towards the right hall and told me there was a cafeteria at the end.

"Are you hungry?" he asked and I shook my head and said I'd be interested in something to drink.

"I'm going to head back to my room and go over the files," I replied and he smiled and told me that he needed to show me the lab first then he'd take me to the cafeteria. I thanked him as I pulled out the pad of paper and added another hall to my drawn map. A few steps down the hall I could see the fluorescent lights humming in a lab. Through the glass wall, I could see Jordan and Abby both fully dressed in sterile suits so they didn't contaminate their samples. Abby noticed me and waved as she headed to the intercom. I watched the young redhead with her freckled face smile happily at seeing me.

"Hi dear, can't invite you in but we're about finished up and can meet with you in the cafeteria," she said quickly and I nodded with a smile. I glanced over at the older Jordan and waved back at the gray-haired gentleman. I waved Abby back over and told her I'd see her back in our room and explained that I wanted to get my research done. She nodded in understanding and waved me off. I laughed and asked Brian to please take me to the cafeteria. I chose tea and an apple just in case I got hungry. Brian escorted me back to my room and asked if I thought I got the layout. I lifted my notepad and nodded.

"If you need anything else you can call me on the intercom right here," Brian informed me and he patted the cream-colored box. I nodded and told him thanks once again. After the door closed behind him I headed to my file cabinet and began pulling out each subject's folder. I pulled out Enzo's first and flipped open the manilla folder. A picture of an attractive healthy man was there. He had nice-styled black hair and silver reflective eyes. Enzo looked nothing like the photo now and I wondered if it was due to him only being fed once a week from what his file states. I shook my head as my finger followed the words "uses compulsion" and is weak when underfed. My eyes widened at seeing all the degrees he had and grinned seeing he had the same knowledge as any of the doctors on staff here. His actual age was unlisted but I assumed he was very old and his file listed him as a Homo Nosferatu Vampires or vampire. I rubbed my eyes wondering what exactly had I gotten myself into. His blood type was Rh-negative but not null and they'd been altering Enzo's feeding time to see if they could change it.

"Idiots," I mumbled sourly. The poor guy was starving and some dumb ass thought that would change his blood. I was gritting my teeth and thinking the vampire should be released. I put his file to the side and opened Malia's and gasped loudly at seeing the soldiers had been shocking the skinwalker to try and change her blood type. I ran both my hands down my face and wondered if Jordan approved of this. Dr. Bryce was a retired military doctor and he would cut off his hand if it was ordered by some stupid general. I pulled out all their files and the only subject that had golden blood was the red wolf. I laughed at the photo of the burly, curly red-haired man with a big bushy beard. Tristan looked like a ginger lumberjack. Upper ranking wolves in packs carried the Rh Null blood type and they had a hard-on trying to capture Alphas of known wolf packs. I hadn't realized that the government was aware of and studied all these mythical creatures. I start to wonder if all the things I'd read about as a teen were real. The door opened and Abby came rushing in and cheerfully bound towards me.

"Here you are," she shouted and hugged me tightly.

"I'm so sorry for your loss, honey. Jordan and I were informed by Thomas that it was only you coming and when we asked why he told us what happened. It was so sudden," she mumbled softly and I nodded.

"Yes it was unexpected," I replied quickly, not wanting to discuss my husband's death. Abby glanced down at the files and grinned.

"It's crazy finding out all of them are real and exist, huh?" I nodded my head and Abby sat on my tiny bed.

"Did you meet them all?" I grinned slightly and nodded again.

"The blood we need to collect is in the wolves so the "hunters" are setting traps all over known werewolf lands," she said softly.

"Do you know who ordered the vampire's limited feedings and Malia's electrocutions?" I asked curiously and she looked horrified.

"That's terrible, I'd go and feed it and unplug the wires. I had to do some minor adjustments for my cryptids when I arrived here too," she mumbled irritatedly. My brow rose at what she said.

"You have different subjects than I do?" She nodded and went to her file cabinet and carried over a bigger stack than mine.

"I have a total of seven subjects and only two carry the blood. A demon named Ezra and some Beta wolf named Jackson," she said calmly and I nodded. I exhaled deeply and told her I wanted to feed my vampire and unplug my skinwalker and she laughed and told me she'd help me. We both went directly to the cafeteria and rummaged through the kitchen for some suitable meat.

"Vampires eat the same as humans and drink blood like once a month. They can go out in the sunlight too," Abby was telling me as I sat a pan on the stove and melted butter for a steak I was going to cook for Enzo. Abby sat on the counter and watched me cook. She knew it was my second love and if I had dropped out of medicine I would have become a chef. Abby was sniffing the air and saying that it smells delicious.

"Are you trying to win this guy's heart through food," she teased and I rolled my eyes.

"You know I can't tolerate any kind of mistreatment," I responded and she smiled. I plated the food I'd prepared. Making it look like it came from a five star Michelin restaurant.

"Can you hold that," I asked as I gave her the plate? Abby licked her lips and told me I should cook dinner tomorrow night. I shrugged as I poured a glass of red wine and gathered utensils.

"Let's go," I said softly and opened the door for her as she carried the plate of steak and vegetables. I hurried quickly towards the huge steel door and used my key card to unlock it. I pulled it open in a huff and watched the overhead lights flickered on. I heard the grumbles and chuckled softly as I told Abby to set the plate on the table in the corner. I approached the first cell and noticed that Enzo was watching me intently and sniffing the air. Our eyes were locked on each other until Abby spoke.

"You can slide the plate through the opening right there," Abby said softly and I broke contact to look down. I handed him the wine glass through the bars and the utensils. He grinned devilishly, showing me his fangs. He handed the utensils back and told me he didn't need them. I grabbed the plate and kneeled to slip it through the opening. Enzo grabbed the steak and hurried quickly to his corner and began tearing into the flesh. He sounded like a rabid animal.

"I hope you like it," I mumbled sourly and heard him growl back. I shook my head and headed towards Malia's cell and followed the electrical wires to a fuse in the back. It was a tight fit between her cell and Tristan's the wolf. I gritted my teeth and proceeded to shuffle between the pair sideways. I was facing the werewolf and noticed that he had returned to his human self and was sitting there completely nude. I glanced away from him and back down at my goal. I bent down and pulled out the fuse and heard a quiet thank you. I looked up to see Malia looking down at me with a grin. I nodded my head and stood back up, handed the fuse I'd removed to her through the bars. As I did I heard a deep growl and Abby yelling at me to be careful. I closed my eyes as hot wolf breath assaulted my shoulder and back. Tristan was back as his wolf and snapping his teeth at me. I clenched my fists and turned to stand my ground.

"Knock it off you big furbaby. Behave and I'll bring you a steak as well," I said sternly and he dropped to the ground and whimpered. I shook my head and sighed at the beast.

"I'm sorry for your, well actually all of your treatment. I don't know what the government wants with this blood but I can promise you all that I'll treat you well to the best of my ability. So please, let's work together," I said sincerely and glanced over at Abby.

"Let's take a food order and return to the kitchen, Abby," I mumbled softly and Malia mumbled softly that she desired a pudding cup. I glanced over at her and chuckled as I nodded. I exited the confined space and pulled out my notepad. Turning to the mop of red curls I smiled.

"Raw t-bone or cooked, sir," I asked in a lighthearted manner and relaxed when he said," medium rare." Malia only wanted a pudding cup, preferably tapioca and Darya wanted raw lamb. I looked down at Scotty and just wrote down chicken and laughed at the goofy creature jumping around. As I headed back past the cells a healthy-looking Enzo told me thanks.

"You do well with the others and don't need my help. Why are you being kind to us," he asked curiously with an accent. I grinned slightly and bent down to take the empty plate as I thought about my answer. When I stood his hand was reaching out to touch me.

"I have a kind heart and only wish to help all of you and stop trying to compel me. My mind is too sharp for you to do that. I cannot be hypnotized either. Your eyes are very pretty when you try though," I told him honestly and he stepped back in surprise.

"You and I are going to be great friends I foresee," he told me in Italian and I nodded my head and told him I thought so too, leaving Abby clueless as to what we were discussing.

"I'll return in half an hour with your treats," I yelled out happily and hurried with Abby to the kitchens.

I lifted the perfectly cooked steak and put it onto the plate and plated the raw lamb for Darya and I just unthawed the chicken for Scotty."You think it should be cooked?" Abby shook her head and grabbed a couple of pudding cups and a spoon. She asked if I was ready as I loaded everything onto a large tray and told her I was. She held the door for me and we hurried quickly to my subjects before we were caught breaking protocol. I slid each of the treats in their food slots and tucked the tray under my armpit as I listened to them eat noisily. I glanced over at Enzo and he looked disturbed. I asked what was going on. He tilted his head to the side and closed his eyes."The Hunters are bringing in an Alpha," he mumbled and looked down at his sharp black nails. Tristan turned and listened attentively. The red lights and sirens started blaring and I looked at an unconcerned Abby."They do that every time they bring in a new subject. You're the only one with empty cells so it's coming here

He glared down at me with a curled lip."I'm the commander-in-chief of this entire operation and don't think I don't notice how close you're getting to the bloodsucker," he spat bitterly and I lowered my eyes from him, feeling that the commander's behavior was completely unprofessional. "Now can we proceed? It's imperative that we test the Alpha's blood and he will only allow you near him," he mumbled in irritation. At least he'd stopped dragging me around and I rubbed the arm he'd been squeezing. "What is the blood for," I asked curiously? Brian chuckled softly and told me that information was above my pay grade. I rolled my eyes as we stopped outside of the door I'd

After the x-rated scene, I headed to my subjects and checked out the chart above the small desk to see what the commander-in-chief had scheduled. As my eyes scanned through each day of the week and numerous blood draws, they landed on a brightly colored square that said a mixer was planned for the last Friday of the month. In bold letters it said all employees were required to participate. I rolled my eyes as I noticed Darya waving at me. I'd been doing well ignoring the two males for the moment and headed towards the reptile woman's cell. She looked anxious as I got closer and my empathic side reached out to her."What's up, sweets? You want another leg of lamb?" I asked. She shook her head and looked worried."I need to tell you that the commander isn't a good human. He takes advantage of the females he's captured when the Hunters lock us up in the quarantine rooms. He rapes us when we're chained," she mumbled softly. I looked at her and nodded with a frown."He did that to you?" She

The following morning was similar to the last. Abby presented me with a hot cup of coffee and was flipping through Griffin's file. She pointed at one of the females with him and informed me that it was his sister, Lisa that had been killed."It's crazy that so many famous people are not human. My subject Erza is the son of a Vegas Casino owner that's a real-life demon. He's got a way to get me so hot and bothered it's disturbing," she said with a grin. I sighed and took a sip of coffee before mentioning that I saw her getting plowed by Jordan. Abby's demeanor changed to an ashamed woman. I shook my head at her."Brian asked me to see if you'd see him one time. If you do, he said I could release my subjects occasionally," I said softly and she frowned."You can let them out without his stupid permission. I let mine out quite a lot," she informed me and I started to get pissed so I told her what Darya had told me but didn't mention her having an egg. Abby didn't say much about anything I

The room he'd brought me to was an older area but the equipment would work all the same. A war or something must have occurred in this section I surmised from the blackened metal and huge claw marks that gouged completely through the metal. Sani noticed and told me there was an uprising at one time and many were saved.I uncovered a microscope, and syringe and drew a sample of my blood to examine. My mind was spinning at all the insanity being brought into it. First off cryptids were real, secondly, I might be becoming one. I gritted my teeth as I anchored the glass slide and adjusted the magnification on the microscope. My one-peering eye grew larger and I made a surprised sound. I hadn't even seen this special blood they were all after but as I looked down at the oddly golden shimmer on the blood cells slowly converting the normal ones next to it I huffed. The cycle continued as I was viewing it but I realized that it was a very slow process. I leaned back and rubbed my strained eyes

Abby hurried to my bed and sat down next to me."You're getting more subjects. That's what I overheard, guess there was a big uproar in your section," she said with a grin. I rubbed my eyes wondering if any of the things that happened with Griffin were real or just my imagination."Can't believe that you were attacked. Jordan told Brian that you needed to rest but damn girl, you've been asleep for almost two entire days," Abby laughed and smacked my butt before rising from my bed. Two days? I ran my hand over my neck and realized that my necklace was indeed gone. I tossed the covers to the side and got up to stretch. Abby whistled over at me and I glanced over at her with a questi

I was happy Enzo had returned but I was confused as to why he would."You know Brian is probably suspicious of you and can sense when people are different," I mumbled sourly and he chuckled."I'd certainly hope so, the man is a strange concoction of several different cryptids. I shudder to think what he appears like when he shifts," he replied and I shuddered. I asked what I should call him and he smiled and told me Enzo was fine as his powers of persuasion were very powerful and far-reaching. We entered the yard and Darya and Griffin both raised a curious eyebrow at the familiar vampire. Enzo elbowed me and asked if I'd submitted to my alpha yet. I narrowed my eyes and told him no. Enzo waved his hand and laughed."Better hope he gets to you before the others when you go into your estrus little lady or those monstrosities are gonna try desperately to mount your sweet tang," he said confidently and I shook my head at his nonsense."I'd rather let Scotty have his way with me," I mumbled

At least Jordan's beast was more of a gentleman than Brian. He entered an area that had been through a war and carried me into an untouched room that was surprisingly really nice. "Take a shower and wash that bastard's scent from your skin. There are clean clothes in the back closet," he mumbled softly and I eyed him curiously."Thank you," I murmured and ran into the bathroom sliding the door closed. After turning on the shower I stood under extremely hot water and scrubbed viciously at my skin and private area. The injuries Jordan had caused on my shoulder had already healed themselves and I checked the area for scars but there were none. I had also thrown up twice over the thick semen that came out of my body. I kept repeating to myself how he would die. My wolf cheered me on in support. I heard the door slide open a bit and Jordan cleared his throat."I brought us both dinner if you think you can eat," he said firmly and I replied quickly saying okay. I washed off what I could of

I yelled out her name and Noah turned right when the creature swiped him across his chest causing gold spray to cover the ground he fell to. Raven growled ferociously and jumped over Noah's prone body and stomped the ground with her two tiny front paws creating a fire barrier around Noah. Her small wolf guarded him and the flames flickered on her back."Nice form daughter and you already have discovered one of our gifts with the flames. Moments later, Abby and I were startled by a loud yell of ouch. I gasped softly at seeing the end of an obvious fork poking out of Noah's chest. I glanced over at Raven trying to look innocent."Raven, that's not nice," I said sternly and she glared at Noah and told us he was giving her kissy lips. Abby snickered and yanked the utensil out of his flesh. She wiped away the shimmering blood and said,"he heals fast but you shouldn't hurt him too much because it tires him out." I smoothed out my clean blouse over my much larger and unfortunately sagging breasts and examined myself in the full length mirror. My wavy chestnut hair fell all the way to my butt. I debated on whether to put it up or not and decided that it would be down after hearing Zurac tell me it was time. I exited the bedroom and glanced up at Zurac."Are we taking the Jeep?" I asked curiously and he eyed me oddly and told me yeah. I smiled and started past him and was surprised by feeling his hand splayed out on the middle of my lower back as we headed outside. I went straight to where Zurac's jeep was and waited for him to unlock the door. We both got settled and Zurac grinned at me."We're going to Biysk and it will be at least an hour drive and I'd like to ask you some questions about your claim of being my mate," he said softly. Thirty minutes later I was on hold waiting for Abby to answer. Once she got on she screamed into my ear."You're not dead," she squealed and I told her everything that had happened."Well shit Em, cook for the man," she suggested and I laughed."You never had a problem getting a man, just keeping them," she told me truthfully and I groaned. She told me her and Ezra were going to visit and she'd help me kick Zurac's dumb butt. I chuckled softly and told her I needed to do it the way the moon goddess wanted in order to get Aisha back but was thankful for her friendship and advice. I gritted my teeth seeing through blurry vision the lovely woman I knew was Monica, nursing my child. I stomped my foot, having enough of this bullshit. Seth ran his fingers through his thinning sable hair and surprised me by saying that Kenan was mixed with the DNA of some demon named Ezra. I snickered at that and he eyed me angrily. Today they were going to learn about skinning and tanning hides. I held my protruding belly as I watched the plane landing on the runway. Raina and Eric were coming for a visit. I covered my laugh at seeing Raina's bigger belly and Eric dotting on her. It was obvious that he loved her and the moon goddess should allow them to be mates. They both had retired from the hunters and had taken half of the captives for their pack. Raina wobbled towards me and we attempted to awkwardly hug each other, but our baby bumps were in the way."Eric proposed and I said yes," she said excitedly and showed me her shiny rock."Abby's getting married after she has her baby and I have mine.
