Fiona’s POV

I felt rooted on the spot.

Like thick green weeds had manifested from the floor and slowly yet persistently wrapped and tangled it’s thick roots around my legs, holding me in place and seeping poison into my body through my skin.

Why did they have to be here? Why now? What do I do? I couldn’t beg someone to take my shift when it’s just my first day and I had just clocked in. It would be weird, not to mention unprofessional.

Jin was the first to notice me. Genuine surprise and shock filtered his face as his eyes locked with mine silently before averting his eyes like I was invisible. Short of the surprise and shock which had vanished from his face, nothing else was there. It was just blank like a marble.

Somehow Helena noticed something was off with her lover because she glanced at his blank face then turned to scour the restaurant with a possessive vicious gleam in her eyes which turned into a saccharine smile that was utterly vile on her lips.

She whispered something

Fiona’s POV“Have you eaten yet?” Lyn asked. I started at his question then stared the brown packaged meal. I had forgotten about the food for a brief moment, too happy from seeing them. “Uh, no. Not yet. It’s not time for my lunch break yet. But thank you for this. It was very thoughtful of you, Lyn. I appreciate it.”Lyn smiled. “No worries. Happy to help.”Rowan gave another eye roll then slapped a palm over Lyn’s smiley face in a nasty face palm that made me grimace from the sickening sound. “Anyways, we’re are ready to order. I don’t know about him, but I’m starving my brains out!”Lyn successfully peeled Rowan’s fingers one after the other off his face then shot her a filthy look. “Must you always be rude and uncouth every single time?”Rowan blew him an air kiss and flashed him a bright smile. “You know you love me.”Lyn snorted in disgust then turned to me with an exasperated smile. He turned to me, “What do you recommend?” “For you I’ll recommend either the Rack of lamb wit

Fiona’s POV.“Did you hear Fiona’s latest tryst?”“I heard she was having an affair with the professor who was going through a nasty divorce.” Another whispered.“She’s the lowest of the low. It’s no wonder she’s not liked.”I could feel the venomous hatred and deceitful whispers floating around as I passed the hallway and swallowed painfully at the lump lodged in my throat. The beginnings of a panic attack and anxiety threatening to crush me was overwhelming as I fought to keep my expression blank and aloof to the vile rumors been spoken. They were all lies, naturally, yet I couldn’t do anything about it no matter how hard I tried to clear them. They just stuck like stubborn stains on a pristine white cloth.Something hit the back of my head and exploded. It’s runny content slid with a disgustingly cold, wet sensation down my back to, landing splat on the floor. Mechanically, my fingers reached for the wetness behind my head, rubbing the wet sticky hair there before bringing it back

Fiona’s POV.The Four Alphas. The very thought of them never failed to bring a shiver of fear down my spine. Despite what people thought, I knew them intimately —had grown up with them in fact. But no one needed to know that, and no good would come out of people knowing. If anything, the bullying will be worse. I had no one to turn to, I was an omega after all.Jin, was the Luna’s son and only heir and was treated like a god. He along with the other three alphas who came from powerful alpha families with their influence stretching to every sector you could think of. And powerful people comes equally powerful friends.Jin and his friends had always bullied me ever since we were children. It began with taunting and pulling my hair when I wasn’t looking. As we grew older the little taunting and childish pranks grew darker. One of the memories forever painted in my mind happened one particular day when we were in middle school. They had me cornered – all four of them at the school playgro

Fiona’s POV.Fear.That was the only thing rooting me to the floor like heavy thorns wrapped around my ankles.Fear lacerated my heart and left my body trembling at the weight of their collective gazes. The nightmare memories I’ve tried hard to suppress all my life struggled to surface. My lungs worked for air and found nothing. The air suddenly seemed thin and the heavy pounding of my heart reached my eyes, threatening to explode. The urge to vomit so potent, it took iron clad will to maintain my composure. The terrors of my childhood once again occupied my mind; my brain picked one out of the thousands plaguing me and latched on it. Where the four of them had locked me in a dark room in the servants quarters — a broom closet — for the whole night, leaving me with snakes and hungry fat mice. I nearly died that night. My screams had awoke the servants and they rescued me and treated my wounds. I still had the physical and mental scars to prove that that night wasn’t a dream. Wasn’t a

Fiona’s POV.I didn’t know where I was running to. My feet felt light and heavy under me at the same time, heart pounded loudly over the harsh pants leaving my lips as my lungs worked for air.Fuck.“Hello, Fiona.”I shuddered heavily at the flashback. How did he find me out? How did they find me out? I covered my face. Anxiety and panic had my vision spinning as I fled, turning at the next corner which Led me to the rows of bathroom. I ran into one and slammed it under lock and key before scanning the room for people. Luckily it was empty.Had I stayed just a little bit longer, I would have fainted on the spot. Overwhelmed wasn’t enough to explain the numerous emotions I felt at that moment. My wobbly legs took me one to the many pristine rows of ceramic sink with golden faucets and I gripped the one closest to me with shaky hands as I turned on the faucet, watching water rushing unforced and free in a stead unbroken flow. I wish my life was like this. Free. Unshackled. My gaze shift

Fiona’s POV.Stunned.I was stunned and shocked at the same time. Of all the ways I could imagine this night going south, this wasn’t one of them. I just stayed rooted on the spot, staring at the four alphas in dumbfounded amazement.“Are they speaking up for me?” I thought mentally. The party fell into hushed silence as the drama unfolded. I saw Helena and her group pale at the unexpected sight of the four alphas. Helena looked pale, gulping instinctively as Jin and the remaining three drew closer but her main focus was on Jon watching her with cool, blank eyes.“I asked you a question, Fiona.” He said again with a deceptively soft voice, his face was anything but. His dark eyes had a hard glint in them. He turned those dark eyes to me in question and I resisted the urge to flinch under his intense stare. That and the anxiety crippling me at the nearness of the four alphas surrounding.I said the only thing that came to mind at best, “I’m sorry.”A slight frown appeared between his b

Fiona’s POVNo matter how much I thought about this, it made no sense. He had a motive, that alone was certain. If not why would he act any different. I was a nobody yet here I was sitting in Jin’s room while he dressed my wounds with such care that left me feeling wary and highly uneasy. The sensation of his hand wrapped around my injured wrist had me flinching at the barest sensation of our hands touching. And it was not in a good way.“Hold still!” he ordered, tightening his grip around my wrist for good measure and my panic tripled.“What if he lied to you and this was just an excuse to get you under him?” A twisted voice in my mind whispered. “You’d scream and no one would hear you.”Instinctively, I tightened my grip on the knife, my palm suddenly felt clammy.“I can basically hear your thoughts, Fiona.” Jin spoke, meeting my gaze squarely. “I gave you my word that nothing will happen to you.”“And I told you that your word means nothing.” I replied smartly, resisting the shudde

Fiona’s POVThe incessant beating of the alarm woke me up and I groggily patted around the soft cozy comfort of the bed until found my phone then turned it off before sitting up, yawning so wide my jaw threatened to snap. I took a look at my surroundings with a sleepy frown, waiting for the gears in my brain to get information before it dawned on me.I’m staying at Rowan’s house. Well, in the spare room to be precise which was a hundred times better than staying at Jin’s. Out of sheer exhaustion I had fallen asleep before my head touched the bed. Taking a look at the room I occupied, I noticed that Rowan’s parents were eccentric in nature. The entire room was an entanglement of mix-matched pieces of furniture and décor yet it brought this ambience of a cozy little haven that just made my heart flutter by mere looking at it.Rowan’s parents were incredibly cool and kind and didn’t make me feel unwelcome or left out. Their genuine kindness seemed almost ironical, but it wasn’t. It’s no

Fiona’s POVRowan, Lyn and I set out of Lyn’s car almost at the same time, slamming the doors closed in rapid successions. I heard Rowan release a low appreciative whistle as she stared at the massive mansion that was Jin’s home, The estate was sprawling, surrounded by perfectly manicured lawns that stretched out like a velvet green carpet. Tall wrought-iron gates, adorned with intricate gold filigree, stood as the entrance to the property, guarded by two stone lions that seemed to watch her every move. Beyond the gates, a circular driveway paved with polished cobblestones led to the mansion, where a sparkling fountain with cascading water stood at its center, its marble figures so intricately carved they seemed almost alive.Rowan let out a low appreciative whistle as she stared at the massive mansion that Jin called home. The mansion itself was a masterpiece of modern opulence, a blend of glass, steel, and white marble that gleamed even in the darkness of the evening. Floor-to-cei

Fiona’s POV“What do you mean you won’t be staying at Lyn’s anymore?” Rowan asked, eyes blown wide in shock, her mouth hanging open. “Lyn and I were just talking about when you would be ready to move in.”I speared a bit of salad with a fork and slid it into my mouth and began chewing then shrugged. “I changed my mind.”“You’ve got to be fucking kidding me.” Rowan muttered with mild disgust and irritation. She spared a glance at Lyn in front of her then shook her head and began muttering under her breath. Lyn seemed to have recovered from his initial shock, watched me intently with a hardened expression. “What made you change your mind last minute? It was Kai, wasn’t it? What did that bastard say to you?”I quietly set down the form I held to look at him squarely in the eye, plastering a thin, cutting smile for good measure. “Well we wouldn’t have been stuck in thus mess if you hadn’t blabbed to Jin’s mother, now would we? If anyone’s to blame, it’s you. I agreed to your suggestion w

Fiona’s POV“Where the hell have you been? I texted you the moment I got to school and you swore you were on your way.” I snapped, glaring daggers at Lyn who had sense enough to look ashamed. “I’m sorry. I got held up. And honestly I was afraid of meeting you face to face. Have you seen your face when you’re angry? It’s fucking scary, man.” He murmured, shifting away from me in a show of fear to prove my point. “Excuse me?!” I spluttered in disbelief. “Are shitting me? Have you seen yourself? If I’m scary, then what does that make you?”Lyn balanced his chin on one hand and put on his best shirt-eating grin. “I’d go for fuckable, charming and ridiculously hot.”“Ew, cringe.” Rowan muttered thickly with disgust. “Narcissistic pig is what you are.” I retorted at the same Rowan said hers. Lyn seemed unbothered by our vivjd6shiw of disgust and shrugged. “What can I say. I’m an acquired taste. It’s not my fault you both are blinded by it.”Rowan and I rolled our eyes so fucking hard it

  • The Fourfold Desires   Chapter 58

Fiona’s POVThe white ceiling in the tiny yet cozy space of my room stared balefully at me as we fell into a silent staring contest to see who would win. The ceiling did. With a tired sigh, I flipped to my side and faced the window outside holding back the darkness of the night at bay, and thought of nothing in particular. I couldn’t sleep. The small discreet nocturnal sounds drones on in a remote distance played in tandem to the slow but steady beating of my heart. I couldn’t sleep. My gaze locked on my luggage tucked in a tidy little corner of my room and I flipped to the cool side of my bed, groaning in frustration at the stripped mattress chaffed harshly at my skin. I couldn’t sleep and my insomniac brain kept on drilling sleeplessness into my body, keeping my eyes peeled back and staring into the dark nothingness. It was too late to leave the house by the time I had finished packing my luggage and bawling my eyes out until they were swollen and red from silent tears. I had w

Fiona’s POVThump. Thump. That was the sound of my heart pounding in slow motion. The walls of the room seemed to be closing in on me. I couldn’t breathe. It felt like I was trapped, drowning underwater with a heavy ball chain tethered at my ankles. I was helpless against the onslaught of emotions bombarding me: despair, dread, anger, anxiety, fear and panic—each worse than the last. How could Lyn do this to me? We had a mutual, silent agreement to keep this a secret. What was the essence of exchanging numbers if he was going to notify the Luna afterwards? What the hell was wrong with him? What the fuck I’m I going to do in this situation. Fuck, this was messed up. I messed up thinking I could trust him. I was so angry at myself and at Lyn for putting me in this extremely horrid situation. I couldn’t even bring myself to look at Jin. No, I don’t think I would have bore the emotions I would see there. I couldn’t even look at his mother. I couldn’t stomach the snide sneers and icy s
