Words of Endearment

Amani's heart raced as panic set in; Malakai's anger was evident, and she knew she had crossed a line with the King. But she couldn't help it. The King's words had ignited her outrage. With each step back to their chambers, anxiety gripped Amani tightly. She couldn't shake the fear that Malakai would now punish her friends. Tears welled up in the corners of her eyes, ready to spill over.

Upon entering their chambers, Amani dropped to her knees before Malakai. "Please forgive me for my outburst in there, Kai," she pleaded, her voice choked with tears. "It will never happen again, I swear to you."

Malakai gently lifted Amani to her feet and wiped away her tears. "I'm not upset with you, Amani."

"You're not?" She questioned, her surprise evident.

"No, I am actually very proud of you and the way you handled yourself in there," he praised. "I've never seen that side of you before. You spoke with authority and confidence. You spoke like a true Alpha, and I know that only angered my father.
