Chapter 34: The Dangers Ahead

Mink’s P.O.V

As I stepped through the familiar threshold of the house I had built, with Abhay at my side, there was an undeniable sense of homecoming mingled with apprehension. The house, large enough to serve as a pack house, stood as a testament to both my determination and my duty as an Alpha but today, it seemed to hold a weightier significance as I noticed Ruksaar and Kashmira sitting in the living room, their expressions a mix of expectation and concern.

"Welcome back, Mink," Ruksaar greeted, her tone serious yet tinged with underlying warmth.

"It's time we had a proper discussion. You can't keep avoiding this topic any longer."

I exchanged a glance with Abhay, his presence a silent reassurance by my side. Taking a deep breath, I acknowledged Ruksaar's words with a solemn nod.

"You're right, Ruksaar. I've been running for far too long but I'm done with that now."

With a firm resolve, I motioned for everyone to take a seat, the gravity of the moment

I was trying to bare my insecurities, my mind filled with worries and doubts, and now she was asking me if that was all my concerns amounted to.It was a casual question, one that caught me off guard, considering the weight of the issues I had brought to attention. Ruksaar, with her poised demeanor and unwavering strength, had always been the epitome of a beta - someone I admired and respected. But her nonchalant response left me reeling, unsure of how to proceed."Why, yes," I replied hesitantly, taken aback by her question. "They are pressing concerns, Ruksaar."Ruksaar leaned back in her chair, studying me with a keen gaze. "And do you think those concerns are truly as significant as you make them out to be?""Yes," I admitted, feeling a pang of self-doubt creeping in. "I had lived with the weight of my guilt all my life, Ruksaar, you’re a witness to that. How

They looked to me, their chosen Alpha, for guidance and protection in this tumultuous world we inhabited. It was a responsibility I hadn't sought, but one that had been thrust upon me by fate and circumstance."Mink," Ruksaar said, her voice bubbling with joy, "I've been waiting for this moment for so long."I chuckled softly, happy about her enthusiasm. "What moment, Ruksaar?""This moment," she replied, her hands resting on my shoulders. "The moment when I can finally tell you how proud I am of you. I've always known that you would make a great Alpha."I raised an eyebrow, a bemused smile playing on my lips. "Oh, have you now?"Ruksaar nodded vigorously, her eyes shining with determination. It took a few moments for the sound to penetrate my slumber-clouded mind and for me to realize that someone was rapping urgently against the wood.As the noise grew louder and more insistent, I groaned, dragging myself reluctantly from the warm embrace of my blankets while Abhay slept soundly beside me."Who could be pounding on my door like a maniac at this ungodly hour?" I muttered to myself, rubbing my eyes sleepily as I stumbled across the room. The predawn darkness enveloped me like a heavy cloak as I fumbled for the doorknob, my fingers clumsy with sleep."Ruksaar, is that you?" I called out groggily, my voice thick with exhaustion. The pounding continued, growing even louder and more frantic with each passing moment. Chapter 40: Something UnexpectedMink’s P.O.VI sat there on the edge of the bathtub, staring numbly at the positive pregnancy test clutched in my trembling hand. The plastic stick felt foreign and heavy, like it belonged to someone else's reality, not mine.My mind was blank, devoid of any coherent thought or emotion. All I could do was stare at the two little lines, unable to comprehend what was happening. But as I looked at my reflection in the mirror, I couldn't deny the truth any longer. There was a life growing inside of me, a tiny little being that was half me and half Abhay. A little wolf pup, I thought with a mixture of awe and fear. How was I supposed to handle this? How was I supposed to be responsible for another life when I had just accepted the role of an Alpha?I felt a wave of panic rising within me as I imagined telling Abhay about the baby. Would he be happy? Surprised? Angry? I had no idea how he would react. Abhay was always so unpredictable in the way he handled a

And I knew that it would only get colder, winter only a whisper in the air and yet it howled with a ferocious chill all around me.I looked at the waterfall in front of me, untouched by the winter chill. Jharna, that was what we called it. The literal Hindi translation of a waterfall, but it just sounded right to us. It was freezing outside but I knew it would be nice and warm inside the pack house. It would also be noisy with the new packmates. But I liked that noise. It was welcoming. It was home. And so was she.Something dropped to the ground at my feet, distracting me from the view. A sense of déjà vu threatened to overwhelm me as I looked down to see what it was. It was only a speck in the vast sea of snow but it stood out amongst the white. Chapter 62: EpilogueMink’s P.O.VFor seventeen years, I had lived my life alone, waiting…hoping, that by some miracle, Abhay had survived the fall, that I hadn't been ripped away from my first love, my mate, and the father of my daughter, by some twisted turn of fate. But when a decade had passed by without any news, I had ventured all over the country once again, hoping to find some semblance of peace in my restless heart.I had gone to Abhay’s parent’s house, disguised as a salesgirl, and I had found his picture on a wall, adorned with flowers, a symbol that the person was deceased. The picture had been so real, so jolly, that I had almost apologized for everything. His mother had been a kind soul, offering me water and sweets even though she didn’t buy anything. When I had asked her about the picture, she had told me that her son, Abhay, had gone missing and never came back. So it was mandatory to assume they were dead after a decade of waiting.I had left with a heavy heart, but

In two days, she'll turn one year old, a milestone that fills me with both joy and sorrow.I remember the day Abhay and I ventured down into the valley, seeking solace in the tranquility of the meadows. His expression shifted from determination to disbelief as the blade found its mark, piercing through his flesh with a sickening thud. Blood spurting through the wound as he staggered backwards, a gut-wrenching scream escaping his lips.Everything around me seemed to blur as Arsalan stumbled away, his vision obscured by blood and agony. In the chaos that ensued, I could hear Abhay's panicked voice shouting for him as he moved away towards the Jharna, to lure Arsalan away from me.Arsalan's wrath knew no bounds, as he turned away from me and raced back towards Abhay. But just as Arsalan reached out to grab onto Abhay, their fates intertwined in a tragic dance of violence and desperation, my own transformation began. As I shifted from my wolf form to my human form, a primal scr

Abhay’s P.O.VBracing my uninjured hand on the snow, I got up into a seated position and took a peak at my shoulder. The black wolf had dug through skin and bones and if I wasn’t mistaken, left one of its fangs embedded into my shoulder. But that was the least of my worries. The cold was making me numb, unable to feel the pain, and for now, that was a good thing.I stood up on unsteady feet and immediately, blood gushed down my arm and soaked the sleeves of the coat to drip down onto the snow. And that was when I saw it. I saw my dream unfolding right in front of my eyes. The blood dripping onto the snow. The gushing waters of the Jharna in front of me. And the plain soaked with blood behind.“This is it.” I whispered to myself. This was how my life ended. This is what the heavens have been preparing me for through my dreams.I turned back slowly, finally facing the battlefield and it wasn’t at all like my dreams. Yes, the field was soaked in blood, but it was also filled with the mot

Abhay’s P.O.VThe battle raged around me like a violent tornado, the weight of the gun and knifes in my hands a stark reminder of the danger lurking in the shadows. My heart raced with adrenaline, each sound sending a jolt of fear through my veins but I couldn't afford to let fear consume me, not when Mink's life hung in the balance.I spotted movement ahead, the glint of moonlight reflecting off fur, and I knew the wolves were closing in. Gripping the gun tighter, I steadied my breathing and prepared for the inevitable confrontation. It wasn't much, just a simple handgun and a knife, but it was all I needed. Mink and the other wolves were fighting in their wolf form, so this was nothing compared to them.As the first wolf lunged at me, teeth bared in a snarl, instinct took over. I sidestepped its attack, the knife flashing in my hand as I slashed out, catching the wolf across the muzzle. It yelped in pain, momentarily stunned, and I seized the opportunity to fire off a shot, the reco
