Chapter Three

Selena’s POV 

After struggling with the chains for a while and it still didn’t yield, I decided to give up and just lay back until Raymond decided to let me go on his own will… that was if he would let me go.

My position as the beta was gone, the Alpha and the pack were in danger and no one had any idea about it because they all decided to blindly trust the person that was plotting the downfall of the pack behind their backs.

I sighed to myself as I lay helplessly on the floor a while passed as I tried to think of a way to get my way out of this room but I couldn’t come up with anything. Raymond knew I was really strong so he used chains that were strong enough to restrain me and even my movement was limited. I just had to give up because I couldn’t do anything.

Suddenly the door opened again and he walked on me. I quickly sat up on his arrival and he laughed when he saw I had quit struggling with the chains.

“I guess you realized it was best to give up” he taunted and I frowned.

“You’re going to regret what you’re doing Raymond, Alpha would get back at you and you would regret plotting this pack’s downfall in the first place” I warned him and he just laughed before squatting in front of me.

“One thing you’ve still failed to realize Selena is that I’m obviously winning and soon, we’re going to hear that Alpha is dead because you were too stupid to slip in your plan to save him that now, you can’t save him anymore. Just give up so I can have mercy on you and bring you to my side” he said to me and I closed my eyes to try and calm myself the best way that I could because it was still hard to accept the fact that it was my boyfriend who was speaking to me like this. 

How long had he been planning this attack on Alpha? Was he always a traitor to the pack all these years? Why exactly was he doing this? 

All these thoughts ran through my mind as I tried to come up with something but my mind was blank.

I opened my eyes to look at him and I saw he was watching me.

“So have you made up your mind? You’re powerless now and everyone in the pack thinks you’re sick so unless I declare you free of your illness, I don’t think you can live a normal life, Selena. Work with me and together we’ll rule the new world I would create when I get rid of Alpha” he said trying to convince me to work with him and I couldn’t help but wonder why he was suddenly trying to convince me to be with him when he was just threatening me seconds ago.

I stared at him for a while without saying a word and he noticed so he ran his hand through my hair lovingly as he used to when we were still a normal regular couple but now, it just felt uncomfortable as he did it and I wanted to push his hand off me but I couldn’t.

“What are you thinking Selena? Share with me” he demanded and I shook my head but he roughly grabbed me by my chin again and forced me to look at him.

“I said… speak!” He growled and a chill ran down my spine as I swallowed while looking into his blank eyes that scared the hell out of me.

“Why’re you suddenly asking me to be on your side? I thought you wanted to get rid of me” I told him when he wouldn’t let my jaw go he smiled before releasing his grip then he softly ran his hand over the spot he held.

“I like it when you succumb to me, Selena. I won’t have to hurt you when you always do what I want… just like how you told me what I want now. It’s one of the reasons why I was drawn to you in the first place, you’re very flexible and would do anything for me… I just don’t understand why you want to risk your life for that Alpha now” he said before he took his hand off my face and I felt so relieved.

“I’m the beta Raymond and it’s my duty to protect the Alpha from danger. Especially the one that comes from the person he trusts” I reply and he looks at me.

“But you’re not the beta anymore, shouldn’t you give up now? You can’t save him now… you should be thinking about saving your ass first” he replied and I tried my best to fight the urge to punch him because, to be honest, I couldn’t do it. I could only attempt to punch him but my fist wouldn’t get to his face due to the chains.

“But why do you want me to be with you? You can easily get rid of me without going through all this fuss of trying to convince me” I told him and he palmed his face for a while before he looked back at me.

“Don't you get it? It’s because I love you, Selena. Just work with me, and I’ll release you from these chains, you’ll only have to cheat the Alpha by deceiving him then I’ll do the rest and we can rule the new pack I would create” he kept on trying to convince me and I didn't even believe him this time when he said he loved me. Maybe he was just desperate to have me. That was why he thought he could easily fool me with that word.

I decided to play along if it would make him loosen the chains on me and save the Alpha.

“Fine, I’ll work with you. But you must keep to your word and make me your Luna after all of these” I told him and he smirked on hearing my words.

“I knew you would bend to my will Selena, just like you always do. Wait and see the world I would create for us, no one would bully you again because we’ll get our revenge on the ones that bullied you and I’ll give you the best life ever. We’ll be both unstoppable” he said to me and with that, he pulled a key out of his pocket and unlocked the chains from my wrist and ankles.

I made sure to seem like I wasn’t up to anything suspicious as he helped me up to my feet then he ran his forefinger across my cheek slowly while smiling at me and I only felt utterly angry and disgusted by his guts and intentions for the pack but I couldn’t let him know that. I had to keep on playing along until I got to do what I wanted.

“C’mon, I’ve got some things to do at the library and I want you to come with me and assist me,” he said and I just nodded without saying a word before he took my hand and pulled me along with him to the Alpha's quarters library.

We got in and he gave me some papers to organize while he went through some scrolls on the shelf where the pack's official documents were kept. Did he want to give another document out again to that foreigner? I thought to myself as I watched him and when he noticed, he turned to look at me but I quickly turned my face away and he went back to what he was doing. 

Making sure that I wouldn't get his attention, I discreetly searched for a paper that hid anything written on it until it got to the receiver's hand. I wrote on it in only a code and I and the Alpha understood, warning him about what was going on in the pack and how Raymond wanted to overthrow him and take over the pack. I also went ahead to tell him that Raymond had leaked his current hidden location so he was currently in danger and had to leave that place immediately. When I was done, I hid it away under my shirt and I continued arranging the books just like I was doing so Raymond wouldn't suspect anything.

After a while, I excused myself for the bathroom, claiming I was pressed and he went on to tell me to return to him quickly while ordering a guard to follow me to the bathroom so I wouldn't be able to escape if I wanted to.

We got to the bathroom and he stood outside while I made my way in. I rushed into the stalls and checked for the bathroom whose window was still working, then I opened it and whistled for my bird.

It was given to me when I became the Omega because every executive of the Alpha had a messenger bird that sent messages for them if they didn't want to use their phones and I couldn't risk using my name because Raymond could check it and have me caught.

My bird arrived shortly and I tied the message to his foot before sending it off.

I watched for a while and when it was out of sight then I prayed to the moon goddess that Alpha gets it before I made my way out of the bathroom and the guard followed me closely on my way back to the library.
