Eva felt Max’s forehead with a grim expression and was relieved to find that he did not have a fever. She glared at him accusingly.

“Not everyone out there is a good person. Stop defending him when he was the one who caused your hand to be injured so seriously.”

“But he really might not have done it on purpose.”

Max frowned and said to Eva, “There was a helpless look in his eyes when he pushed me. It looked like someone forced him to do it.”

“Stop thinking about him. You should just focus on getting well.”

Eva pushed the dessert in front of Max. “You should have more. Is there anything else you’d like to eat? I’ll make it for you now.”

There was a sweet smile on her face, and Max forgot about Nolan after that.
