Old Mr. Langley smiled widely and pressed down on Max’s little hand that was handing Mia the shrimp. He smiled and said, “Alright, I know you dote on your sister. I’ll peel some shrimp for her too. You should enjoy yours.”

Max and Mia hugged him on each arm. “Great-Grandpa treats us the best.”

“You’re good kids.”

Old Mr. Langley cheered up even more. He took out two little crystal figurines and gave them to the children.

“This is my present for you.”

The crystals were translucent and bright, and they could tell that it was expensive. The children accepted them happily, but they did not forget to look at Eva.
