A couple of days had passed since Kevin had been abandoned by Rose. He had intended to sleep over at Rose’s old house but the pain in his hand became unbearable. At about midday, he ordered a taxi from an app and then it dropped him off at a nearby hospital. He was treated and his arm was bandaged. He then decided to check himself into a hotel as he thought of his next move. He chose a hotel with ground floor access because his movement was now limited. He had filled in the check in form and his debit card and handed them to the receptionist. She frowned as she tried to use his card.
“I’m afraid that the card has been declined due to insufficient funds,” she said.
“That’s not possible,” Kevin said. “Try again.” She tried again to no avail.

Jessica frantically dialled Richard’s number as soon as she ended the call. She was stammering and fumbling over her words and it took a long time before she passed her message. But when she finally did, Richard dropped all he was doing and prepared a team of his security guards to take action. He then sent for a driver to pick up Jessica from her place of work. The driver brought Jessica to a small house on the outskirts of town. Jessica was starting to panic thinking that Kevin had led her into a trap when she spotted Richard at the door. She walked to him and held his hand and finally let out the flood of tears that was engulfing her. His men got into the house to strategize, while Jessica cried her heart out. Richard comforted her for a while and then he swung into action.“I need you to calm down sweetheart,” He said as he stepped back. Jessica took a few deep breaths and then
“How are you feeling?” Gracie asked Tracy. They had been shopping for clothes for Tanasha and Tracy was too silent. Earlier that day, Gracie and two other friends had assisted Tracy to pack up Tracy’s things in readiness for the vacation of her apartment later that month. All these activities had taken an emotional toll on Tracy and she wanted nothing more than to be alone.“What do you think?” Tracy asked as she leaned against her car seat.“I know it must be hard. Stay strong. It will get better,” Gracie said.“Thanks. Let me drop you off at the car park and then I’ll head home,” Tracy said.“I don’t think you should be home alone tonight,” Gracie said as she took ou
The day of Tanasha’s burial had finally arrived. Tracy’s friends had slept over on the night before and the group of ladies had driven to the village together. The burial had passed uneventfully and Tracy had been overwhelmed by the generous support of her friends and colleagues. Some of them had even volunteered to stay over with her in the village. The overnight trip at a local resort had been a source of comfort for Tracy and she had been able to ease her sorrow considerably. Before the ladies began their return trip, Tracy passed by the village to look at her parent's home for the last time. The events that had unfolded at her aunt’s home previously had made her come to the decision to cut off everyone that was affiliated to her past. She clearly remembered the confrontation she had with her aunt in the presence of her childhood neighbours. It was etched in her memory and her heart ached when she recalled it.
Eddie prided himself on being one of the most level headed human beings on the face of the earth. He had gone through a relatively unstable childhood, where his mother had been present but mentally absent. When she eventually exiled herself, Eddie had landed in the hands of his aunt Catherine. Catherine had tried her best to be good to him, but Eddie could not ignore the bias that Catherine had towards her own biological children. On the other hand, his father sent him money and clothes and everything else he wanted except his company. Eddie had eventually reconnected fully with his father when he was in university because his father felt that he could benefit his political career. Eddie had happily taken up the role of his father's youth adviser because for the first time in his life, someone listened to him and respected him. Building a career on this foundation had been relatively easy for Eddie once his life took this direction. It was therefore a
“Mum, where is daddy?” Ryan asked when Jessica got into her car.“He is on an international call with his boss. He will come join us when he finishes,” Jessica said.“What is an international call?” Ryan asked.“It’s when someone is calling from another country,” Jessica said. She was hoping Ryan would stop asking more questions because she couldn’t think of more lies. Unfortunately, it was not her lucky day.“Then why didn’t dad call us when he was away at work?”“He was too busy so he took some time off to come say hi,” Jessica said. She rubbed her temple in frustration and looked at Ryan who was playing with hi
The sun was beginning to set in the calm and quiet suburb with about 50 houses. Ella stepped out of her taxi to gaze at the lovely sunset on the horizon. She smiled to herself as she realised that she would enjoy this view for years to come. She looked at her beautiful two storey house with pride and walked towards the gate. She was surprised to see curtains already set up on the windows in the upper rooms. She had planned to furnish everything herself but she didn’t mind if Kevin had set things up for her. Besides, she didn’t mind saving some money. Just as she was about to ring the doorbell, a car hooted from behind her. She turned around and was surprised when she noticed that the car was two feet away from her. It seemed to be ready to enter her property. The driver looked at her with suspicion and she walked to his window. He rolled it down and looked her up and down. A beautiful woman who was wearing too much makeup looked at Ella harshly.“Can I help you?” the man asked.“I was
“Why is pretty aunty sad?” Jason asked his father. They watched as the beautiful young lady walked out of the gate. Her pleasant perfume lingered in the air even after she had closed the gate. She had an angelic face and a stunning full figure. If they had met under different circumstances, then Blake would have asked her out on a date.“She lost her way home,” Blake said as he picked up his son and they entered the house. He was beginning to regret buying this house. This was the fourth person who was claiming ownership over the same property. Although his lawyer was sure that the deal was above board, Blake was getting tired of the uninvited visitors.“Will you help her get home?” Jason asked as he hugged his father’s neck.“Sure. I gave her directions. She is on her way there,” Blake said. “Where is aunty Amanda?” he asked. Rose the nanny, came in and took Blake’s coat and briefcase. They were in the lounge and Blake couldn’t see Amanda anywhere.“She went upstairs,” Rose the nann
“I beg your pardon?” Ella asked in surprise.“I think you heard me well. Move in with me,” Blake said.“Why would I move in with you? I don’t understand,” Ella said.“You are a beautiful woman and I do not want to see you suffering,” Blake said as he pushed back a strand of hair from her face. The look in his eyes also said much more than any words could say.“You have no shame. Your wife and son are barely 10 meters away and you are making advances at me? And how exactly do you expect me to move in with a perfect stranger? You must be out of your mind,” Ella said standing up. Blake blocked her path so that she wouldn’t leave. She tried to push past him but he was too strong. She couldn’t help but notice his huge chest, handsome face and his intoxicating cologne. She had to admit that the man had very good taste in clothes as well. Ella took back her seat as she forced her attention back to the matter at hand. She couldn’t believe her mind was straying at a time like this.“Please let
