A couple of days had passed since Kevin had been abandoned by Rose. He had intended to sleep over at Rose’s old house but the pain in his hand became unbearable. At about midday, he ordered a taxi from an app and then it dropped him off at a nearby hospital. He was treated and his arm was bandaged. He then decided to check himself into a hotel as he thought of his next move. He chose a hotel with ground floor access because his movement was now limited. He had filled in the check in form and his debit card and handed them to the receptionist. She frowned as she tried to use his card.

“I’m afraid that the card has been declined due to insufficient funds,” she said.

“That’s not possible,” Kevin said. “Try again.” She tried again to no avail.

Jessica frantically dialled Richard’s number as soon as she ended the call. She was stammering and fumbling over her words and it took a long time before she passed her message. But when she finally did, Richard dropped all he was doing and prepared a team of his security guards to take action. He then sent for a driver to pick up Jessica from her place of work. The driver brought Jessica to a small house on the outskirts of town. Jessica was starting to panic thinking that Kevin had led her into a trap when she spotted Richard at the door. She walked to him and held his hand and finally let out the flood of tears that was engulfing her. His men got into the house to strategize, while Jessica cried her heart out. Richard comforted her for a while and then he swung into action.“I need you to calm down sweetheart,” He said as he stepped back. Jessica took a few deep breaths and then

“How are you feeling?” Gracie asked Tracy. They had been shopping for clothes for Tanasha and Tracy was too silent. Earlier that day, Gracie and two other friends had assisted Tracy to pack up Tracy’s things in readiness for the vacation of her apartment later that month. All these activities had taken an emotional toll on Tracy and she wanted nothing more than to be alone.“What do you think?” Tracy asked as she leaned against her car seat.“I know it must be hard. Stay strong. It will get better,” Gracie said.“Thanks. Let me drop you off at the car park and then I’ll head home,” Tracy said.“I don’t think you should be home alone tonight,” Gracie said as she took ou

The day of Tanasha’s burial had finally arrived. Tracy’s friends had slept over on the night before and the group of ladies had driven to the village together. The burial had passed uneventfully and Tracy had been overwhelmed by the generous support of her friends and colleagues. Some of them had even volunteered to stay over with her in the village. The overnight trip at a local resort had been a source of comfort for Tracy and she had been able to ease her sorrow considerably. Before the ladies began their return trip, Tracy passed by the village to look at her parent's home for the last time. The events that had unfolded at her aunt’s home previously had made her come to the decision to cut off everyone that was affiliated to her past. She clearly remembered the confrontation she had with her aunt in the presence of her childhood neighbours. It was etched in her memory and her heart ached when she recalled it.

Eddie prided himself on being one of the most level headed human beings on the face of the earth. He had gone through a relatively unstable childhood, where his mother had been present but mentally absent. When she eventually exiled herself, Eddie had landed in the hands of his aunt Catherine. Catherine had tried her best to be good to him, but Eddie could not ignore the bias that Catherine had towards her own biological children. On the other hand, his father sent him money and clothes and everything else he wanted except his company. Eddie had eventually reconnected fully with his father when he was in university because his father felt that he could benefit his political career. Eddie had happily taken up the role of his father's youth adviser because for the first time in his life, someone listened to him and respected him. Building a career on this foundation had been relatively easy for Eddie once his life took this direction. It was therefore a

She was hoping Ryan would stop asking more questions because she couldn’t think of more lies. Jessica had a relatively peaceful few days after her encounter with Kevin. She had gone to work without issues but she had been intentional about picking and dropping off her children herself. On Friday, Jessica attended the children’s concert and was pleasantly surprised when Richard made an appearance. He tried to keep his appearance low key but in the end, the school recognized him and publicly acknowledged his presence. Jessica felt very touched by this gesture and she felt herself falling in love with the governor even more. Once the concert was over, Ryan came to Jessica and hugged her. He looked sad and Jessica knew it had something to do with his father.“Mummy, why did dad go away without saying goodbye?” Ryan asked. Jessica had told him that Kevin had a work emergency and he had to go back overseas. Ryan had been sad but he had moved on from this without a fuss. However, it was

The weekend began for Jessica on a high note. The people from the moving company arrived at 8 am ready to start working. Within just one hour, everything was ready for movement. Jessica bid goodbye to a few neighbours and she embarked on a new adventure. At the new house, the moving staff quickly reassembled everything in the three bedroom guest house. Jessica was pleasantly surprised to find that the master bedroom had been tastefully finished so that the rest of the old furniture fitted into the other bedrooms comfortably. Milcah and Jessica finished rearranging some things in the house and then they walked around the main house. The five bedroom structure was overwhelming as it was still empty. The kids ran around happily asking all sorts of questions

It was soon evening and Jessica drove her new car to Richard’s private residence. The security personnel led her in and she handed the car keys to one of the guards to park for her. She watched the car being driven away and sighed. She was going to miss that SUV a lot once she handed it over to Richard. Jessica was led to the study where she found Richard seated drinking some brandy. His eyes were red like he had been drinking for a while. Jessica sat down and Richard poured her a drink which she didn’t touch. He sat back down and sighed as he looked at the pensive look on Jessica’s face. They both knew this was over and nothing they could say would change that. Before any of them began to speak, Eddie barged into the office.“Eddie, when did you get here?” Richard asked in surprise.“Not too long ago,” he said looking

Back at the Raymond residence, there was confusion and excitement amongst the staff. Only one driver was aware of when Ella had returned, and he explained how he had simply picked her up from an apartment complex. He had been with the Raymond family for years and he knew how to be discreet while releasing just enough information to generate some counter intelligence. The man could clearly recall the animated conversation which he had subsequently narrated to Blake.“Are you sure you picked her up from an apartment? I was there when the police dragged her out of the house. Blake must have picked her up from a police station,” Dora said. She had come downstairs with rage and explained to the other staff members how Blake’s criminal ex-wife had sneaked back into the house.“We picked her up at a middle class estate. I don&
