Selene's POV

I didn't anticipate this happening. It felt almost alien to me that anything—or anyone—other than my carefully planned retaliation would enter my life after all these years of intense concentration on it. But Jason was unique.

Jason was flawless.

He was steady where I was erratic and serene where I was flaming. In the chaos that had become my life, he was a constant presence. And the more I gave myself permission to spend time with him the more I became aware of how much I was starting to like him.

I was beginning to fall deeply in love with him. In the back of my mind however, I knew that the woman I was now—the one in charge, the one who had fought her way to the top—could not afford to show weakness. Not to Jason. To no one.

I couldn't let go of the strategic accuracy and control that I had used to build my empire. Not when I was this close to achieving all of my goals. The fact that Jason had been patient with me only made it more difficult for me to break up with h

Selene's POV I had always taken great satisfaction in maintaining my composure. Regarding everything. My plans, my business, my feelings. This empire was something I had carefully constructed and nothing or no one could bring it down. Not Chloe, not Seth and most definitely not my emotions. I was not going to let the advantage slip away from me. So I believed. It took place on a Thursday afternoon. I had just concluded a meeting with Victor. Lila's POVThe soft harm of the restaurant's sweet music filled my ears, but it didn't reach my heart. My hands trembled slightly as I adjusted the napkin on the table, a nervous habit I hadn't noticed until now. It was our fifth anniversary. Five years of love, laughter and promises.. I had prepared everything to perfection, picked out the flowers—his favorite of course. The candles were arranged just right, making the intimate setting I have chosen so beautiful and lively. The candles were sweet scented and very expensive but they were worth it for this special occasion. We had made a special reservation in the most expensive restaurants in the city. La Momento was a restaurant for the rich only.I checked the time again. 8:30 p.m. he had said he would be there by now. Seth never broke his promises and I believed in him, tonight I had news and it wasn't just our anniversary, but I knew this beautiful life changing news would make him happy.I swallowed down the excitement that bubbl

Lila's POVThis wasn't happening. No, Seth wouldn't do this to me. This was a nightmare, one that I would soon wake up from but then the look on his face didn't show that it was a nightmare. It was reality. My fingers shook as I finished signing the divorce papers. I didn't want to do it but the look of pure hatred on his face told me this was a lost battle. I was having trouble breathing. My legs gave out under me and I staggered back barely catching myself on the chair's edge. The room was spinning and despite how cold it was, I felt so hot and felt like fainting. As Chloe clung to Seth, her cool, strange laugh echoed in my ears.“Seth, why?” I croaked.I tried to steady my breathing as my heart thumped in my chest but nothing felt right. This was supposed to be our anniversary, this was supposed to be the happiest day of our lives, how am I supposed to tell him that we would finally become parents?“Seth.” My voice was shaky as I whispered.” What's going on? • The Ex-wife’s little revenge   CHAPTER SEVEN: DEALING WITH BUSINESS.

Selene's POVAs I made my way to the conference room, the sound of my heels clicking reverberated through the marble corridor. My steps were confident and measured as they ought to be. Long shadows are cast on the boardroom's sleek contemporary furnishings by the afternoon sun's soft filtered light from the large windows that line the walls.I had been gradually building this empire and today I was going to write another important chapter. I had been putting in a lot of overtime behind the scenes to get ready for this. Establishing my position as a significant player in the fashion industry would be greatly aided by this agreement and collaboration. But it was more than just business. It had to do with power. About command. About being able to control the very people who had attempted to destroy me at last. The conference room door opened and I walked in instantly filling the room with my presence. With his back to me Jason stood near the window gazing out at the expansive city below

  • The Ex-wife’s little revenge   CHAPTER SIX: UNSPOKEN FURY.

Selene's POV Although the night should have felt like a victory, my mind kept going back and forth about seeing Seth and Chloe again while I lay in the chilly emptiness of my hotel room. The recollection of their faces; Chloe's barely concealed disgust and Seth’s composed almost contemptuous look made my chest feel heavy. Five years had passed since they had destroyed everything and yet here I was in front of them stronger and more capable than ever. But it didn't seem sufficient. My anger which I believed to have been buried came back to me. Although I had painstakingly planned my life and rebuilt my world from the ashes of what they had destroyed, the anger I had buried deep inside me erupted when I saw them again. I paced my suite floor mentally reliving the exchange repeatedly as I attempted to make sense of the conflicted feelings that were consuming me. I could still hear Seth say “Selene you look different.”“Do you think you're better than me?” Chloe had shameless asked.
