A few hours before Mark called Penny, he was leaving work to visit Zane.

Zane had not been back to the office for some time, and Mark found out that he had been hospitalized a few times when the two spoke on the phone before.

Mark was a little worried when Zane did not show up to work these past couple of days as well.
