Worst Heartache

When Kiara woke up, she quickly stood up. It was seven a.m. and she had a restful night's sleep. She quickly showered, changed into her clothes, and drove to their workplace. Since they have an executive meeting today, she still has a lot of work to complete.

When she arrived, she and Luke both stepped into the elevator simultaneously. She was unable to meet his eyes directly.

Luke, who was quite fresh, said, "Good morning, Miss Kiara."

She gave Luke a quick glance before responding, "Good morning."

Luke's gaze unnerved Kiara, who made an effort to avert it. She had no idea why, but every time the two of them got close, her heart began to race.

She pulled out her phone and merely stared at I*******m, hoping Luke wouldn't notice how uneasy she was. When she saw Mika's post with her boyfriend Drew on her feed, she was astounded.

She couldn't believe what she saw. Drew didn't tell her that they were already together at work and especially during their business trip to Cebu. Kiara started to cry but she tried to suppress the pain she felt.

Luke noticed that there seemed to be something different in the expression on Kiara's face.

"Are you okay? Is there a problem?" he asked. Kiara's eyes began to tear up, and she was unable to control it. She quickly brushed it away and kept her face away from Luke's.

She lied, saying, "Don't mind me. My pet cat just passed away at home."

Kiara exited the elevator as soon as it opened, heading straight for her office. She instructed her secretary to keep the door to her office closed so as not to disturb her.

Once she was in her office, Kiara started crying. It was the first time in their entire relationship that Drew had hidden a secret from her. She contacted Drew numerous times, but he never returned the call.

"I'm easy to talk to, if you don't want to get in touch, that's great", Kiara thought to herself as she shut off her phone.

The executive meeting is about to begin, and Kiara's eyes are puffy. She covered it up with makeup. She manages a branch of the corporation, so her personal problems cannot interfere with her job. Despite her inability to concentrate, she considered being active and getting ready for their meeting.

The department heads began to enter the conference room, including Luke. Five minutes before they started, they were all complete except for Kiara. Luke was just watching the door and waiting for Kiara to enter. He couldn't stand it anymore and went to her assistant, Carol.

"Carol, is Miss Kiara okay?" Luke asked.

"Yes. She's about to go out of her office," Carol answered.

Right after Carol said, Kiara came out and didn't even look at Luke.

When they started he noticed that there was something different about Kiara. Sluggish and barely smiling at them. He knew she had a problem and was trying to hide it.

Their meeting ended easily because it seems that their colleagues also feel that Kiara is not in a good mood.

Luke considered visiting Kiara's office before returning home. Most people left after a short while, and only a few remained.  When Kiara was not their branch manager it was exactly 5 p.m. Luke was going home, but now he was waiting for Kiara to come home first.

Although Kiara's office door was open, Luke knocked before going in. Kiara's back was turned, and he caught a peek at her.

He called, "Ahmm.. Miss Kiara?"

Kiara wiped away her tears and swiftly turned around.

"Yes?", she replied.

Kiara's table was approached by Luke cautiously as he deliberated his invitation to her.

He could tell Kiara was weeping because of the tears in her eyes. Earlier, Carol had also informed him that Kiara skipped lunch. He considered inviting her to dinner since he was concerned that she might be ill.

Luke proposed, "Well, I just thought. There's a new seafood restaurant open here, perhaps you're available tonight for dinner." Kiara gave him a blank stare while looking. Kiara, however, believes that she cannot simply cry the entire time while Drew is happy with Mika. "Don't worry. There's no malice in this. It's just a pleasant supper. Since I don't have anyone to join me for dinner and Carol stated you didn't eat lunch, Luke said.

Okay," Kiara replied quickly.

Luke was taken aback by Kiara's prompt response. He thought it would be difficult to persuade her to join him for dinner. "Well fantastic, I guess I'll simply wait for you outside then," he grinned.

Kiara replied, "Okay, give me five minutes to fix my things."

Luke was happy and he convinced Kiara to get in his car and just leave Kiara's car in the parking space. Kiara's treatment of him has changed quite a bit. As before, she always contradicts him and opposes him. While he was driving, he glanced at Kiara and felt the sadness in her eyes.

"Is there a problem?" Luke asked.

"No. I'm just tired," she replied.

"You know, if you don't take it out, it will blow you up," he said.

Kiara merely took a deep breath and remained silent. She can't discuss a problem with Luke in particular. She ought to have avoided him, but she had to put Drew out of her mind first given the circumstances.

They got there and entered the restaurant. It is a perfect size, and both the inside and external styles are inspired by old Korean architecture.

On the second floor, where they were seated, they enjoyed a stunning view of the city. If Drew is there, perhaps they're going on a date. She told in her head, "Stop it, Kiara. Don't worry about Drew. Maybe Mika is with him now."

"Oh, there's our order!" exclaimed Luke joyfully.

Two king crabs, each with a mouthwatering aroma and color, were brought to their table by the waiter. There are also Baked Cheesy Scallops and Corn & Crab Soup.

"Wow! I'll forget about my diet because that looks so good," Kiara remarked with a smile.

Luke looked at her while grinning.

"Why?" she asked.

Luke answered, "Nothing, I'm just glad to see you smile today.

Luke's gaze caught Kiara's flushed cheeks, but she turned away.

"Aren't we going to eat yet?" she said.

Kiara's plate was neatly stacked with scallops and crab flesh thanks to Luke. Kiara simply stared at him and was impressed by his demeanor. Luke is a naughty character, but he also has a gentlemanly side.

They enthusiastically discuss the humorous events that occurred during their team-building exercise. Luke chats a lot while Kiara is eating, and he effortlessly makes her giggle.

Kiara remarked, "You know Luke, you have a sense of humor."

"Of course, Miss Kiara, I'm not just good-looking; I'm also fun to be around," claimed Luke.

Kiara laughed and said, "Wow! Your face is thick too, isn't it?

Anyway, if we're not at the office anymore, don't call me Miss Kiara; it makes me sound ancient."

Luke grinned and nodded.

Luke said, "Noted Miss, I mean, Kiara."

After they finished eating, Luke drove Kiara to her condominium.

Kiara said, "Thanks for the food."

Luke answered, "Thank you for being here. I hope to have dinner with you again the next time.

Kiara responded with a smile, "Well, as long as you're still paying the bill, why not?"

Luke laughed and said, "Oh no! Alright, I'll save for our next dinner."

Drew's POV:

Mika said, "Good morning, Drew."

Drew greeted her with a faint good morning as well and nodded. He wondered why Mika didn't seem to be affected by their argument, and he noticed that she appeared to be having a nice day.

All day, Drew shied away from Mika and focused on his unfinished tasks.

Bret, a coworker, walked up to him.

He jokingly asked, "Dude, how was your honeymoon with Ma'am Mika in Cebu?"

"It was a business trip," Drew reassured, "Be quiet, someone might hear you and believe it was a honeymoon."

Bret remarked, "Come on man, don't deny it. Nearly all of our coworkers have been talking about you all day."

"And why did we suddenly become famous?"

He got out his phone and showed Drew the I*******m post-Mika had made.

Drew was surprised by what he saw. He didn't think that Mika would post a picture of the two of them with an intriguing caption. He was worried because Kiara might see it.

He quickly took out his cellphone. It is on silent mode and there are ten missed calls from Kiara who has been calling him for a while.

"F*ck you Mika. What have you done!" Drew said angrily.

He tried to call Kiara but he couldn't contact her either. He knew she had seen Mika's post.

He stormed over to Mika's office right away. Mika abruptly stood up in shock at his presence. She could tell Drew had seen her post by the expression on his face. She grinned while acting surprised.

She asked inanely, "Oh dear. Did you miss me already?"

Drew asked angrily, "What does this mean, and why did you do this?"

"Relax, it's a good thing that's all I posted; I didn't elaborate", Mika said, caressing Drew's chest.

Mika's hand was pushed away from Drew.

"Kiara and I are inseparable, and if you try to separate us, you won't succeed because of how much we care for one another."

Mika sternly questioned, "Really, Drew? Have you told her that something happened between the two of us?"

Drew was still glaring at her aggressively since he was unable to respond.

Mika teased, "No, yeah, you want me to say it?"

Drew yelled, "Stop this crap, Mika! You're pathetic!" and walked away.

Kiara's phone was off, despite his repeated attempts to call her.

He made the decision to see Kiara in Baguio so that they could have a proper conversation.

He considered what he would say to Kiara as he was driving. Although lying is difficult, Kiara cannot be made aware of what transpired between him and Mika. He couldn't bear the fact that she would undoubtedly break up with him.

8 p.m. when Drew arrived. He went to Kiara's condo, but she wasn't there. He tried to call her again but still cannot be reached. He waited outside the condo and was waiting for Kiara to arrive. He doesn't know anyone else who works with Kiara, so even if it takes him a few hours outside, he will wait for her.

He also waited for more than an hour when he saw Kiara with a man and they were both laughing.

Drew couldn't stop the anger he felt at what he saw. He immediately approached the two and grabbed Luke's neck by the collar.

"Who are you? Are you dating my girlfriend?" Drew asked angrily.

Kiara was surprised by what Drew did. Luke, on the other hand, did not seem to be afraid and tried to remove Drew's tight grip on him.

"Drew, stop it!" Kiara shouted. She pushed Drew and fell to the floor.

"Did you just come here to find a fight? Are you with Mika?" said Kiara while holding her tears.
