36- First Day

LANA’S POV

Dax’s words of rejecting his inheritance if Xavier leaves the house, kept replaying in my mind. I could not believe that after being so close to getting my heart transplant, it suddenly seemed impossible for me to achieve. This weighed heavily on my heart that I felt like I could not breathe. Even when Dax took me upstairs to the bedroom, I could not utter a single word.

“If my father thinks that I am going to be a coward and choose him to drag me by my nose, he got another thing coming. He can shove his inheritance up his ass,” Dax declared as he took off his clothes.

I went and sat at the edge of the bed, unable to lift a finger to take off my clothes as I saw my life flashing right before my eyes. I refused to still tell Dax about the true reason that I agreed to his contract deal. I did not want my life to rest entirely on the palm of his hands. I wanted to get the money according to our deal contract and not because of his pity since we were together.
