Gift and his kids, Jack and Jacquard together with Siyabong arrived at the train station in Abasia Kingdom after the whole ceremony was over. He spent nine days waiting for them at the station.
The journey, which lasted for two days, was so stressful. They all arrived at the rented apartment at midnight on the third day after the train left the station.
The arrival of Gift and her children, together with his brother-in-law, Uncle Siyabong, popularly called The Siya by his neighbors in a rented apartment situated in the west of Abasia Kingdom in the eastern part of the country surprised his neighbor. They were all happy and joyous to see him because he left the without informing any of his neighbors even his best friend Nathaniel, also an engineer working at the same place as Siyabong. No one knows his whereabouts. They all assume he went to his village to support his tribe in the ongoing war in the region.
Siyabong had left the Kingdom since he got the message from his uncle, lethal, that they will be coming to stay with him for a while till the inter-tribal war ended waiting for them at the train station outside the Abasia Kingdom.
After greeting all his neighbors, he then turned to his uncle's wife, Gift, and his Children, "All glory to the gods that we arrived here safely. This is where I live. Where I rough things together. Though this apartment is not that spacious, I am actually planning to move out of this apartment after my wedding. I want you to feel at home. The house is yours". Siyabong said to the family as he was struggling with the door.
"What's wrong with this door? Is it that am with the wrong key? This is the key, why is the door not opening?" He was worried and relentlessly turning the key.
Gift and his children, Jacquard and Jack, were standing right behind him with distressed looks. "May you should ask for lubricants, be it grease or engine oil from your neighbors. That should really reduce the friction between the surfaces in contact. It might be because it has been a long you make use of it." Gift said to her brother-in-law, Siyabong.
"Ohh! you are right, my brother is such a lucky guy to get married to a scholar". Siyabong said as he tried to pull out the key from the door and adherence to her advice.
Gift was once a student of a well-known college in the west. Gift was known as well respected by her colleagues on campus during her college days for her excellence. She was the only child of her late parents. Her parents died in a motor accident when she was in her second year at the college. Gift parents owned a lot of manufacturing companies, and shares in many enterprises.
Immediately after her parents died, she had to nullify her studentship at the college because all her parent's property was seized by the government, which claimed that her parents accumulated all this from their illicit business and also illegal immigration to the country. Everything was seized and she was left with nothing.
Gift struggled, and engaged in a lot of casual work to sustain herself. She didn't know any other members of her family because her parents are Illegal immigrants to the country.
During her strive for survival, she crossed paths with her husband, Lethabo, who was the manager of the restaurant she was working with as a waiter. They were in-loved, got married, then traveled to his husband's village, Ifakoko. After a short period, she got pregnant and gave birth to a twin, Jack, and Jacquard. They were all living happily before the disastrous incident occur, which later led to a tribal war.
Back to the very moment, " pls give me some minutes, I will be back in a jiffy," Siyabong told Gift and her children. He quickly ran to the neighbors to ask if any of them have a lubricant. Fortunately for him, he got what he needed at his first guess.
It will open now, (door cracking) wow! At last, it opened. 'Let's move in now, I will pack all the luggage inside, just go inside," He told them.
"You welcome to my small home. Firstly, I want you to have your bath as I enter the kitchen now to prepare something for us all, I am goddam hungry. I knew your mum's favorite, what will your kids love to eat? Or should I prepare the same for you kids.?" He asked the kids.
" Both nodding positively, we want the same, but uncle we are no more kids, we are now young adults, if not for what happened in the village, I would have shown you our " Jack replied his uncle as his mother cut the conversation without completing the last Statement.
"It's high time you guys went to the bathroom to freshen up, everything you gonna need is inside the visitor's room. Before you guys are done, dinner will be ready, okay!" Siyabong told his nephews, Jack and Jacquard.
As the kids left for the bathroom, Siyabong faced Gift, " Mama J, I don't like the way you are moody, we are all into this, what we just need is to pray to the gods that may your husband come back safe and healthy soonest. I know it is hard to do, but need to stay cheerful because of your health and your kids. I promise to take up the responsibility of my brother till his arrival." Siyabong told Mama J, as he fondly calls Gift.
"Thank you very much, I am grateful for everything you're doing for my family, May the gods continue to bless you. Are you just saying am moody, who's supposed to be weeping right now, I don't know whether my husband is dead or still alive. No one to say if he is gonna make it, which kind of life Is this?
"How do you expect me to get over it and move on with my life? Am noting without him." Gifts lamenting and weeping profusely.
"You need to take it easy and stop crying, all this is not going to help you or improve your health, instead it deteriorates it, pls am pleading and asking for your indulgence. My uncle will return to us, he loves his family so much that he will fight to his last breath to ensure that he returns. I believe that. He just needs to assist him with prayer and pray to gods to put an end to the bloodshed".
" I want you to go in and freshen up before you are back dinner will be ready. Then we all eat and go to bed. I have everywhere set". Siyabong added.
Some minutes later Jack and Jacquard came out of the room. They went straight to the dining table where Siyabong was sitting waiting for them to get settled before he starts serving. Waiting for Gifts to come out and join them, Jack asked.
"Uncle, what are you experience when you first got here," he then smiled, walking towards the kitchen to get the fruit he had sliced, and then replied," Things aren't easy at first. I had to cope with mundane, real-life problems, including paying the rent, which I'm not used to backing than in the village, dealing with people's squabbles as a Westerner and also new to the environment and the system, and facing danger, loneliness and ostracism. Although what actually made those challenges so was that, the kingdom was in a period of hardship, with no rain, they had to adopt an irrigation system and the returns are not so appreciative of the efforts and time ingested which resulted in insufficient resources, particularly food. Though with time, things started changing positively, started making new friends, and getting used to the customs and traditions of the kingdom.
"Thanks to the gods, I can see everything is getting back to normal with the birth of the promised child as written in the holy book of the kingdom, The Kitaf. referring to Princess Diana. I could everywhere is green, and the smiles on the face of the people. Our hardship period is gone. Now it is time to be flourishing." He added with a smile on his face signifying a sense of relief and happiness. Gift came out of the room to join them at the dining table.
"That sounds interesting you are happy. You have known a lot about this Kingdom within the short time you've spent here." Gift commented. " Uncle, there must be at least one amusement park or a place where people can just go to have fun here. Or there is non? Jacked asked him, uncle. Instantly his uncle replied," there are numerous here. There are amusement parks, and gardens where you can go to relax, and free yourself from boredom. Also, there is a museum. A very big one I mean. You will definitely like to be there and which I will take you kids there to see some paintings, artifacts, and art's works and a lot more. Just feel at home. The Kingdom is for all. No discrimination."
"The first time I visited the museum inside the castle of the King of this great kingdom, I expected to be impressed by its famous large paintings, sculptural works, and a lot more as far from thousands of years ago. For instance, I couldn't wait to view the paintings of the first-ever king of this kingdom, and also other kings. Most of the kings were molded because their memories are still fresh to everyone. It took me by surprise, then, when one of the artworks, paintings, that I've always been eager, I mean willing to see at the museum was one of its tiniest: the History of the First king of this great Kingdom, King Abasia, whose this great kingdom was named after".
"Kids, what is the thing you would like to have or become in the future," Siyabong asked. " Okay, I will like......" They chorused their responses. "It's okay. I want you guys to talk one after the other. I don't want chorused responses." He interrupted.
Jacquard spoke," I will like to engage in bizarre adventure. I also like to have super strength, so I will be able to hurdle big buildings, castles, and Leap tenth of Miles; run faster than a streamlined train; withstand anything than a "bursting shell"; lift a train over my head; and be able to fight and defeat thousands of Zuluh warriors, those evil being, within few minutes."
"Wow, you really want such strength, that's great. That means I will always want to be by your side, so you could protect me from any attack. Mama J, hope you are listening to your son. We already have a superhero in our family." He said holding Jacquard close to him while teasing Gift to make her feel among because she has been moody for a while.
"That's really great Jacquard, I hope that will come to pass. Jack let hear you out." He said to jack. "Okay. It I don't really think much about the future. But I believe it will be fine." Jack replied. " It is good to be optimistic but it is quite advisable to have plans for the future. I hope you will have that as you grow."
"It's late already, let us all go to bed by tomorrow morning we will decide on what next. Good night everyone." Siyabong said to Gift and his Children, jack, and Jacquard as they all left the dining table for their rooms. There are just three different rooms in the building. Jack and Jacquard are to share one, Gift is to be in a separate room, then the last room for Siyabong. They all went to their rooms and slept.
A few years later, Princess Diana, being the promised child, was the only child given birth on the night of Hitah, the night characterized by the coronation of the new King, and also sacrifices are offered to the gods of the kingdom. The night of Hitah also celebrated the first-ever king of the Abasia Kingdom who brought his people through the desert -the North- to the watery and fertile oasis. Princess Diana is referred to as 'The Saviour '. She was loved by every member of the Kingdom. Apart from all the magnificent qualities listed above, Princess Diana is extremely kind-hearted, beautiful, and has good behavior. Her beauty was so charming and eye-catching that she had received numerous marriage proposals from different kings, princes, and rich people within and outside the great Abasia kingdom. The King loves Princess Diana so much that when she was growing up, the King was occasionally seen with his daughter when the sunshine grew strong and lasting, and when the buttercups wer
When King Ekpeyong Abasiama heard about the latest attack on his people, he was so disturbed and wasn't happy. " What did this people ? Why are they fighting one another? Can't they just come here in peace, have their business activities in chaos, and then return to their various villages." " I think this person wants the Kinging of Abasia to take hostile actions against their inhumane behavior. Why would they be fighting one another? Why?" The king said to himself and continuously asked himself the question.A few minutes later, after being alone in his room, thinking of what to do next. A thought popped into his mind. " I need to call this child. I must want them all, especially Diana. I just hope she would yield to this. They to be careful of how she moves around the kingdom at this moment." "But we can't continue like this in this great kingdom. It has to stop." The king said. After a while, he then calls one of his servants inside his room. " I want you to call me all the pr
After the king was done talking to his children, while he awaits the arrival of princess Diana, he decided to go visit all his queens in their various rooms. Upon getting to Queen Riyal's room, the youngest and also the third and last wife of King Abasiama Ekpeyong, King of Abasia Kingdom. he met her laying on a sofa with one of her servants holding her left leg. She was in pain as the servant was massaging her ankle. Queen Riyah was known to be the daughter of the King of Mustachio kingdom in the southern region of the nation. She got married to King Ekpeyong Abasiama in appreciation for what Kingdom Abasia warriors have done for her father's kingdom. A civil war was about to kick off in the region but was put to an end by the warriors after Queen Riyal's father, the king of Mustachio Kingdom after had written to King Abasiama Ekpeyong seeking assistance and King Abasiama yielded to the pleading and five of Abasia Kingdom warriors were sent to put an end to it. Because of that,
On the day the King was supposed to dress up and embark on the journey as planned. Unexpectedly, all the chiefs and the prominent member of the royal council saw the messenger of the King at their doorstep." Hope everything is fine at the palace," said Chief Aranse. He happened to be the first person the messengers of the King will visit to deliver the message from the king." My Chief, may you live long, we are sent by King Abasiama to inform you to report to the Palace immediately after you get this message," said one of the messengers. "It doesn't things are okay in the palace, maybe something happened. This kind of unplanned meeting by the entirety of the council signified a bad omen. Anyways you can go. I will report to the place very soon." He said to himself. " Wait, Am I the only Chief the king sent you to? " Chief Ariane asked. " No, my Chief, we are sent to all the members of the royal council. "Thank you."Within a short time, the whole council is already in the palace, w
Princess Diana couldn't withstand what she was to witness from where she was peeping from the cart. Chief Madu and Dave were all scared, they all placed their face to the other side. They all loved Lancelot.Lancelot expected himself to be on the other side. But instead, he felt only an odd sensation of constriction. And then he realized what had happened. The arrow they had fired had missed. All of themBut that wasn't the matter. In a flash, he knew the men hadn't meant to hit her in the first place. Every arrow they fired trailed off the rope. He was now surrounded by a web of rope. Around her, the men were grabbing at the string and running in circles. He tried to struggle. Cut some ropes. But by the time he had figured out what was going on, it was too late. Half the deserters, some were female while some were male but majorly male, ran in one direction, half in the other. It was so clear from the smoothness and coordination of their attack that this is a tactic they had practice
For the next day and a half, not a single man spoke. They walked slowly through the sand, not wasting a single step or a single motion. Princess Diana was been placed on a camel so she could survive because they all knew everything about the desert would be new to her. Silly mistakes can jeopardize the mission. She must be safe and brought to their king without a single injury or on her.Princess Diana was a strong lady. Years of grueling training had toughest her mind and body. But one of the things you learned through years of hard physical labor was that everybody, no matter how hard it had been trained or prepared for a moment like this when it crossed the limits, the machine broke down. The toll of days in the desert had robbed her body of fluids and minerals that one evening of eating and drinking will not quite replenish. Around mid-day the next day, they left the shifting sand again and began winding through a series of barren foothills in the shadow of the range, slowly clim
After several hours of being tied to a cart. They all gained back their consciousness. None of them were able to know the hours they had passed out. One of the guards was able to cut himself loose. He then loosed others. They all thought of going after the deserters who kidnapped the princess but it would be deadly. No water and food to sustain them and they don't even know how far they had gone with Princess Diana. "I don't think it is good for us to go after the deserters. We have to find a way to save those who are injured before they bleed to death." Chief Madu told others. An hour later they walked into the dark, silent dunes. Chief Madu was not the sort of person to doubt himself. But now that he was out in the desert without Princess Diana by his side, He realized how foolish he had been. The Abasia Kingdom was to the east of the Daila Kingdom mountain. But simply plodding towards the rising sun was no way to get through hundreds of miles of shifting sand. There were no land
Several hours later, the return of Chief Madu and all other members of the entourage was announced in the Abasia Kingdom by a guard at the northern gate. Every member of the great Kingdom has been longing for their return. Traveling to the northern region is considered deadly and risky. Anything expected to happen to anyone during the journey. They might be attacked by poisonous reptiles or thieves. Every member of the kingdom knows what is entailed in the journey. They all believed that the King had no choice but to prevent them from traveling. For him to allow his beloved daughter Princess Diana to be among the people that traveled, the matter required an urgent response from both Kingdoms, Abasia Kingdom and Deila kingdom, for the welfare of their people. No one other people the King can entrust with this task than Princess Diana and Chief Madu to lead the entourage. The news of their arrival quickly spread like a wide fire. The chiefs and other people particularly the members o
I'm still surprised that she remembers me by my first name. She lets me pick the books that I want to, after we've returned the previous ones to their rightful places. When I'm done, she leads me back to her table, and make me sign on the record book once again, after re-writing my name, and the new date.Outside, I have three textbooks, all cramped to my chest. Damn, these are heavy even when they'd looked as though they would be light.I am about crossing the road when I heard, "Rash." It's a familiar voice. I turn to the person. Dean's grinning. He wears a black jacket on top, inner white shirt under and a blue jean. The sole of his canvas kinds of lit under the day light. "Hey." I say back, coolly."Um, what're you doing here?" Whilst saying, his eyes dart to the library's building, "oh, came here?""Yeah." Is all I say, staring into his eyes. I see they are green. They are so bright. The beauty runs in the family, don't you think?"Hey, what's up with you?" He notices.Well, h
"Rash!" Oh, boy. I hurry up and get a plain blue towel around my waist while there's another in my hands, being used to clean my face and torso. I get out of the bathroom and go to the closet. I put on a simple nylon black shirt, long enough that the hem stops around my thighs, and a khaki short. On the way, I slip into my flip-flops, getting down the stairs, I see aunt Melissa, giggling to the screen of her phone. She's Face-timing with someone, and really, I don't want to know who it is. When she catch my figure, walking to the couch, she quickly wraps it up and tells me. "So, what's the plan?" I shrug. She's placing her phone away, and concentrating on me. "I don't know." "You're a dickhead." She says. Well, I have a dickhead, the thought comes abruptly but I quickly shake it away. "What do you think...wait, where's granny?" "She's not around." Remember that I said she and granny never gets along. This is one of the obviousness that I mean. Granny is religious on her si
As Jacquard fainted, Jack couldn't believe his luck. He had always envied his brother's skills and successes, and now he had the chance to claim the glory for himself. He approached the unconscious form of his brother and the princess, carefully picking her up and cradling her in his arms. He looked down at her sleeping face, and couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation. He had always wanted to prove himself to the kingdom, to show that he was just as capable as his brother, and this was his chance. “Yes! This is my perfect victory. That’s right… I win!” He exclaimed joyfully. Jack's heart leapt with fulfillment although he did his best to conceal it. He felt as though a heavy burden had been lifted off his shoulders, and the weight of his envy and resentment had been lifted away. The mission to rescue Princess Diana was a success, and he was the hero who saved her. It was all he had ever wanted, and now that he had it, he could barely contain his elation.
Jacquard started to panic as he realized how close the warriors were getting. He knew he had to think as fast as possible and come up with a plan that could at least put him on the higher ground of the table of turbulence. "What do I do now? It’s only getting more and more complicated!" Jacquard thought to himself, with a faint trace of fear. "I can't let them catch me with the princess. We’ll be done for." He said He took a deep breath and tried to calm himself down. "Think, Jacquard , think," he whispered to himself. "What can I do to get out of this situation?" Just at the moment when he was still thinking, the memories of the charm song his mother taught him flooded his mind. "Maybe that's it," he said to himself. "Maybe the charm song can help me get out of this." He started to hum the song softly, hoping it would have the same effect as it did the last time. But as he hummed, he noticed that the warriors were getting even closer. He needed to sing the song louder. He too
Jacquard continued running through the night with memories of his past flooding his mind. He remembered the times he spent with his family before they were left by him and his brother, by the proposal of the neighboring kingdom's soldiers. The pain of leaving his loved ones was too much to bear, but the thought of the princess's safety gave him the strength to keep moving. He thought back to the time he and his twin brother, Jacquard uard, went to their friend's farm. They had so much fun working and playing together, but a little argument over who should carry the most harvest nearly ruined their day. Jacquard wanted to carry more than his fair share, but Jacquard insisted on carrying an equal amount. Jacquard smiled as he continued remember how the words of Lucky had diffused the situation in a lucid illusion. They all ended up carrying an equal amount and left the farm with big smiles on their faces. It was moments like those that made him miss his family even more. The memories
As Jacquard thought back to that day, he smiled to himself, remembering the fun they had at the farm. He could almost smell the scent of the fresh crops and feel the warmth of the sun on his skin. But his thoughts were interrupted by the sound of rustling bushes nearby. He stopped in his tracks and listened carefully. “Shit!” He exclaimed. “What’s that? Oh my God I hope it’s not what I’m thinking?” He asked himself quietly in fear and trepidation. ”Is it the sound of Amah warriors approaching?” He continued to ruminate. He couldn't take any chances. He carefully placed Princess Princess Princess Diana on the ground and crouched down, ready to attack if need be. The sound of rustling bushes grew louder and louder, but to his surprise, it was just a small animal, a bunny for that matter, scurrying away. Jacquard breathed a sigh of relief and picked up the princess once more. “Such a drag. These animals sure can get one a really high blood pressure.” He said to himself, after wh
Jacquard was relieved that he had finally found some water. As he drank, he could feel his energy returning, and he knew that he needed to act quickly to save Princess Diana . He ran back to her side and gently placed his hand on her forehead. She was burning up, and he knew that time was running out. "Your Highness, can you hear me?" he asked, his voice trembling with fear. There was no response, and Jacquard felt his heart sink. He sprinkled some water on her face, hoping that it would wake her up. Slowly but surely, Princess Diana 's eyelids began to flutter, and she opened her eyes. She looked up at Jacquard , and for a moment, he could see the fear in her eyes. "Don't worry, Your Highness," he said, trying to sound as reassuring as possible. "I'm here to protect you. Just take it easy and drink some water." He held the water up to her lips, and she took a few sips. Jacquard could feel the tension in his body starting to ease as he saw her regain some strength. They couldn't st
Jacquard could still feel the weight of the princess pressing on his back as he moved further, making every step more difficult than the last. He could feel the heat of the sun bearing down on him, the sweat trickling down his face, mixing with his tears, and he just wished it would all end already. He couldn't help but think that they were doomed, that they would never make it out alive. But then he remembered his training, his years of preparation for a moment like this. He couldn't give up now, not when the princess's life was on the line. "Stay with me, Your Highness," he said, his voice strained with exhaustion. "We're almost there." He yelled. But Princess Diana remained unresponsive, her breathing shallow and weak. Jacquard felt a sense of despair wash over him. He couldn't carry her much further, and they were still far from safety. He didn't know what to do. As they continued to run, Jacquard could hear the sound of the Amah warriors getting closer and closer. He felt a
As they continued their treacherous journey, Jacquard's mind was racing with thoughts. “Could this be the end? After all I have gone through alongside my brother Jacquard ? Never! I won’t allow that. I promised mom I’ll be back. No! We will be back!” He swore to himself as encouragement. He couldn't afford to let the princess down. He had been tasked with her safety, and he was determined to see it through to the end. He could feel her weight on his shoulders dropping on every single one of his nerves, applying pressure on his well bred muscles and tendons, and he knew that if he stumbled, they would both fall. The adrenaline was pumping through his veins, but it was starting to wear off. The pain in his legs and back was becoming unbearable, but he pushed through it. "Are you okay, Jacquard ?" Princess Diana's voice was weak, barely audible over the sound of his footsteps. He was running as silently as possible to avoid any sneak attack… that was one of the military logics of the
