After what seemed like days but were only hours, John awoke with a splitting headache. Surveying his surroundings, he noticed the absence of anyone who might take advantage of his situation. He began to tug at the restraints binding his wrists but to no avail. Considering standing up and attempting to topple the chair, he quickly found this futile as the chair was made of steel that wouldn't bend or break. He then contemplated walking over to the window to look for someone but realized he was chained to a beam in the center of the room, not allowing him to reach the window. Resigned, he sat back down to wait for their return.
