Garry called in Aiken and other palace guards to leave out instructions. In contrast, Rosalina and Alessa looked at Chester one last time before closing the chamber's door and securing it with a magical seal.

"Make sure no one was to enter this room," said Garry. "I repeat. No one. Understand?"

"Yes, general," Aiken and Garry's two best men answered simultaneously.

"Good. Princess Rosalina, Alessa, and I are heading to the healer's pavilion. If there is an emergency, go and find us there," said Garry, directing at Aiken.

"Understand, general."

The walk to the destination was in complete silence, way quieter than the night itself. At least, nature had the sound of cricket and breeze as a melody. In contrast, the team of three uttered not a single sound, for each of them has a lot on their mind.

But why is Prince Chester suffering from magic backfired? Ga

"Blood oath?" asked Rosalina. "Are you being serious right now?" Her eyes widened in shock. The blood oath was a brief ritual where one cut his or her palm until one drew blood. The crimson droplet subsequently would be used to make a promise on specific terms. It was a ritual of loyalty. There weren’t many elves who dared to go through this ritual, for those who went back on the promises would end up the most painful death. "Yes, Princess Rosalina. I'm sorry, but we have to do this. We need to make sure the talk today will stay within this circle," said Alessa. "But一." "I'll do it," said Elfreda, cutting Rosalina off. "Fine by me," Garry answered with a shrug. Taking a dagger from his waistband, he cut open his palm before handing the sharp object to Elfreda to do the same. They mixed the blood drop with their magics and took turns stating the firs

Sean was forced to walk towards the parking lot. The coldness of a gun still pressed firmly on his back. The moment they were out of the mall, a black van pulled up to the gate, and he was being pushed inside, squeezed in between the one who grabbed him and another bulky guy that he didn't get a chance to look at his attacker's face before a piece of black cloth blindfolded him. As the car drove away, only darkness that filled his vision. "Where to, boss?" asked one of the men. Sean guessed that he was the driver since the sound seemed to be coming from the front. Why do I find this voice so familiar? He thought to himself, wondering where he had heard the voice of the driver before. "To the outskirts of town. There is an abandoned old building where no one dares to

Walking out of the restroom, Oswin was still frustrated in finding a way to track Sean that he didn't notice a tiny figure around his waist approaching him. And instead of getting just one of his legs hugged, both legs were wrapped tightly this time, preventing him from moving even one step. "Not again!" he groaned before looking down to see a blonde girl with round blue eyes and an oval face shape looked up at him. "I'm in a hurry, little human. Let go before I hurt you," he said in a stern tone. Unlike the boy from before, the girl didn't cry. Instead, she smiled at him innocently. "You're Sean's boyfriend, aren't you? Hi, I'm Carina" "How do you know, Sean? Do you know where he is? Tell me!" "I just saw him here before he went to the restroom with my dad."

"Oswin!" Sean exclaimed with enthusiasm and hope. As he had guessed, his boyfriend always appeared when he needed him, just like that night."So, our hero arrives, huh?" Benji uttered with a sneer as he moved to stand behind Sean. "Well, come in."Oswin's eyes immediately landed on the very one he had been anxious to meet. His Sean. But the sights that greeted him were a swollen cheek and a cut lip, making fury creep up to every inch of his body. "You! How dare you touch him?!" Oswin growled and dashed to where Sean was, but approximately twenty men blocked him. "Move!""I'm afraid these guys only listen to me, hero," said Benji proudly. A triumphant smile plastered all over his face."Fine then. If they don't move, then they will be moved." Oswin glared at the guys enco

Aside from several scratches and bruises, Sean suffered no injury. However, his entire body went numb. Every part of his limbs became heavy, as if it weighed tons of kilograms. His internal organs began to shut themselves down when Oswin was no longer listening to his words. He asked his boyfriend to open his eyes, yet the latter refused to do so. Sean demanded an answer when he called his loved one's name, but Oswin stubbornly kept his lips shut. Though he knew it wasn't intentional, it still pained him to the core, for this involuntary recalcitrant could only confirm one thing. His beloved, Oswin, was dead. The immortals couldn't die due to natural causes, but it didn't mean they couldn't be killed."Oswin, h-how c-could you?" Sean asked his question in between a hiccough, wailing like a three-year-old. "How do yo

The chamber of Aldous's second prince was dark and quiet, even though the night was still young. Having no improvement since the accident with Judas happened, Chester was still lying unconscious on the bed. His face was getting paler, so were his lips. His body remained still, right where Alessa and Rosalina had left him, never moving even a single inch since that night when he was tucked in. However, even when it was only for a few seconds, his fingers did show a tiny action. And that wasn't the only part of his anatomy that moved. As his fingers moved, his eyelashes fluttered as if he was about to open his eyes. Sadly, that wasn't the case. The eyelashes only moved subconsciously to the movement of the tears that were streaming down the pale face, bidding goodbye to the brotherly connection between the Wangs brothers that suddenly got lost into a bottomless

Inside a small room where a one-way mirror replaced a window sat Sean with his shoulders slump in exhaustion. His hands were handcuffed to the surface of the cold table. For the entire time, he kept staring down and fidgeting with his fingers without looking up at the interrogator. The interrogation was already conducted half an hour ago, and Sean already gave his confession. However, another person appeared not long after, preparing to repeat the same thing all over again. It confused him somehow, yet he neither had the curiosity nor strength to bother asking."Mr. Sean, are you sure you won't be needing a lawyer?" asked a man in wavy brown hairs, oblong face-shaped, and stubble beard along his jawline. His eyes, though small, depicted a blue color similar to that of the ocean. He was dressed in a neat dark grey suit, and red tie perfectly ironed, leaving no single crease on the fabric. "Even though it was a self-defense case, a man's lif

"You what?" Karras's polite manner dissipated after hearing that his king was injured. "How could you hurt your own husband just because he wanted a night with you?" His feet subconsciously began to move, bringing his body forward to where Rosalina was. The matter of status was absent from his mind."Stop right there." Aiken unsheathed his sword and landed it on Karras's shoulder from behind, making sure the sharp edge was touching the side of his neck but not cutting.Garry flicked his hands to produce the grey magic lights and moved closer to Rosalina in the means of protection. As for Alessa, even though she neither unsheathed a sword nor conjured up his magic, she was standing on full alert. She was ready to protect Aldous's youngest princess if things were getting out of hand.Glaring at Aiken from the corner of his eyes, Karras turned back to Rosalina. This time, he calmed himself down before asking. "Princess Rosali

The sun was blazing hot on the outside, dehydrating people that walked on the street, making them imagine seeing steams coming off the cobblestone pavement. Nevertheless, the hotness and steam were literally happening inside a small apartment, for Sean felt like he really saw smoke rising from Oswin's head as he glared at the person in front of him with eyes as sharp as a blade. "You're saying you don't have anything to say?" asked Oswin. Each word was enunciated clearly as if he couldn't believe what he had heard. "Of course. What else do I have to say?" Benji answered fearlessly with a mocking face. It was hard to blame Benji for his sheer dumb courage because he hadn't witnessed the power of the elf king yet. When he was taken out of the hospital, he was unconscious.

"What do you mean?" Anderson widening his eyes in shock. "He said he could. He promised to take my family to Aldous and made us immortal. He already took my sister there." "Sister?" Oswin asked with a frown. The image of the mortal woman he had accidentally killed flashed before his eyes. It couldn't be just a mere coincidence that Anderson and that woman were somewhat familiar. Radiating a golden light from his right hand, Oswin used it to draw a rectangular box in the air, which subsequently projected a picture of someone inside. "Is she the one?" "Yes. That's Elena. King Father already took her to his kingdom and made her immortal. She is now living in luxury with her immortality, isn't she?" asked Anderson with a glint of hope and excitement in his eyes. "Now, speak," said Oswin in a threatening voice. His face showed not a single trace of mercy as he glared at the two men kneeling before him. Things weren't sure whether the elf king was too intimidating or the witnesses felt threatened. There were no words spoken in the whole two minutes. And it irritated to the point that his body began glowing off a golden light, causing the kneeling humans before him to tremble in fear. "Why don't you speak? Are you deaf? I order you to speak!" He raised his voice and sat bolt upright on the couch, eyes shooting a deadly glare. "Oswin..." Sean drawled as he came to join his lover on the left side, brushing their shoulders together. "They aren't deaf. They are mute." "Huh?" He turned to look at Sean perplexedly. "Mute? But they ta

Breathing his favorite scent in heavily that sounded like a sniff, Sean replied, "Yeah. A heavenly dream plus a beautiful reality. Your presence and scent give me a sense of security." "Am I?" Genevie nodded. "Yes. The trial began that day." "That explains how l lose my power. But why did this memory get erased?" "I am not sure, Oswin. Maybe this trial wants you to learn about humanity through love and not fear. If you remember this accident, even though you won't hurt a mortal, it was only because of the elf's weakness. In short, it was more like an obligation. But if you don't remember, every action that you forgive a mortal will be purely based on your heart. I think this must be it." "This could

Aldous: The Day of The Accident It was one foggiest day Aldous had ever seen. Armed with a sword, a bow, and arrows, Oswin rode on the back of his pitched-black horse and ventured alone into the forest, searching for a rare white deer that only showed itself once a millennium. The creature showed itself at the wrong time, arousing curiosity within him. Known for its lightning-fast speed, it took only a few gallops before the elf king and his horse passed all the guards behind. When they reached the forest, the white deer was out of sight, leaving behind only the paw prints. "Where did it go?" He murmured, looking around for the white thing that should be easily spotted from the darkness. Unfortunately, he couldn't.

Yesternight past midnight: downtown Oakland's mortuary: The corpse of the elf king was left inside the morgue's drawer, unattended and naked. As the hour of death was less than twenty-four hours, no one cared to embalm the body, for they believed the freezer alone should be enough to slow down the decaying until the working time tomorrow. The mortuary was old and small except for the dim bulb on the outside hall. The room and the entire building overlapped with the night's darkness that even the security had to use a flashlight to see his way better. "The lighting needed fixing. This building, too. Who knows when this morgue is going to crumble down? It seems older than my ancestor." The security guard murmured as he patrolled the silent hall.
