4. Fate Ahead of Fate

Freya’s POV

I looked around my surroundings first when my eyes popped open, just for a familiar item to tell me where I was, if I have finally joined my unknown forefathers or if I am now dining with the angels in the afterlife, but instead of that, I am faced with a large decorated room, somewhere in our pack. I was sure it was our pack because of the scent and it reeked of werewolves.

I thought since the lake didn't kill me, it only means more problems for me. Now, I have to explain myself to everyone demanding why and what I was thinking to jump into the lake.

I could say it was at least a good thing that The selection ended and I was not among the chosen one. I just need to find a maid to ask about what has happened. Who was that man running after me? And Cole, Why did he leave me to myself when he was the one who put the stupid thoughts in my head about running away?

I know for a fact that he would not be there if I start receiving my punishment or even after. Not with Diana on his neck. I was stuck on a warm bed, unwilling to move until I have somehow checked out the options I have or just to even know if I have any option at all.

“Things came up Father, I and the rest will come back tomorrow after we have gotten enough rest” A deep unrelenting voice sounded at the corner of the room. I became still and I could not look. It was not a voice I recognize.

“Yes, a very unfortunate situation,” The voice said again before the room was enveloped with silence.

“Sit up if you are awake, explain yourself” Who? Was he talking to me? There was no way it is me. I stayed rooted to the bed, ceasing my breath in the process.

“Did your hearing go deaf along with your reasoning Omega?” Oh my! He was talking to me.

I turned on the bed slowly like a scared cat, I looked up, then sat up like he commanded. “Who are you?” I asked without thinking. “Why were you following me?”

“Ah,” He gave a wicked laugh. “I think that's the least of your problems, Omega. I just saved your life. And you are coming with me”

“With you? Where? Who the hell are you? And why are you talking to me like that?” I know that should not be my next question. That should not be my reasoning at all. Of course, if he is here he must be part of the weredragons.

“Hmm, you are stubborn. I don't like stubborn girls” He commented, moving close to me.

“Okay. Well, that works for me. I am very stubborn and this is just a little of what I am capable of doing. I am also very rebellious, I don't take to corrections and. . . And. . . ” I ran out of words to say. He looked too beautiful, a sin to human eyes, a man that can pass for a Greek god and still dwell inside a woman’s heart comfortably. And his physique. . . Oh goodness! Could make a powerful woman whimper. His soft lips. . . Was just the perfect shape. I longed to touch it. . .

“Hmm,” I caught myself and moved farther up on the bed away from his sinful eyes. “Yes, that's it.” Maybe the few words will convince him to leave me alone.

“Good, I guess it's only right I tame you,” He said, putting his hand on his beard and stroking it as if thinking of ways to do that to me.

“Look, we can strike a deal” I started.

“What deal could I possibly strike with you? I hear you don't have any land to your name, not even a family” Oh good! That's all he heard. I can work with that.

“I know people like you. Obnoxious and very spoilt. You have lands and money to your name or even a family member promising you one when they die, but I hope you know that does not make a man, my friend. It has to be your heart first then the possessions you have. Now please run back to your little friends and leave me the heck alone. I am sure your prince will be waiting somewhere for you” He smiled, and that bothered me. It's painful that he feels so confident just like he was at the lake.

“Tell me, let me hear your deal,” He said, giving me a little bit of hope. I must have hit the nail on its head.

“Okay, so. . .” I stood up from the bed and walked to him. If he was a worker or a staff, it would be easy to intimidate him. I just need to say a few right words and we will be done here. “I will tell you all you need to know about this shitty place and its people. Maybe even something to hold against them. I am sure you all are tired of this stupid ritual and want out, and then you can help me escape. I will go with you, and just when we are far away from here. You can let me go” I finished, his facial expression was unreadable but I knew I was getting to him.

“I still don't see how this benefits me” Stupid man. He was making this very difficult.

“I will tell you secrets! I have learned a thing or two about how things run in here. You can use those secrets to get rid of this tradition and then you let me go, finally”

“I need more than a thing or two little one” I was getting his attention.

“Figure of speech my friend, figure of speech” He smiled again, but maybe this was his good smile.

“Tell me this secret,” He said, biting onto my trap.

“Not if you give me your word”

“I give you my word”

“Good, but after you have settled your own part of the deal,” I said, trying my luck once more.

He laughed out loud, his laugh was rich and so powerful but all in all, never heard anything so sexy.

“Little one, you are tempting fate so recklessly”

“Oh, my goodness” A squeak sounded from behind us bursting the door open, Diana, and her family strolled in. The Alpha plastered a smile I have never seen before across his face.

Without being told, I bowed my bead down and I expected the rude man to do the same but instead, they bowed to him.

“My prince, we are really sorry for the inconvenience. Rooms are being prepared for you and your companions” My prince? The rude man is the dragon prince.

And just then, this evil prince, after making me confess to telling him my pack’s secrets, looked at me in the face and smirked.

I knew that if he spilled all my ranting, my past will be the least of my troubles. I was in deep sh!t!
