"Thank you, Rosetta," I said with a smile, waving at the housekeeper as she made her way out of the room, leaving me alone.

Once the door was closed, I let out a sigh, then bit my lips before collapsing on the bed flat, on my back.

Luca had certainly made a whole point of being away all day, not once showing his face or even letting me hear his voice. It was like he had disappeared right under my nose.

Was this how it was going to be?

This was only my first day as a married woman, and I already felt like I was losing my mind.

My mind went to the reason I was here.

Alberto had told me it was all to end the mafia war and also that being the wife of Luca De Santis meant so many benefits for my power-hungry father. But to what end?

Was I going to be locked up forever in this gigantic mansion?
