Chapter 5 Fake Identity

Five days later, Eugene called his secretary, Tristan to his office.

"How's the investigation on her going? "Eugene looked out from the floor-to-ceiling windows, gazing at the city.

His talk, upright figure projected an overbearing silhouette.

"I…I'm sorry, Boss. But there hasn't been any progress."Tristan nervously reported.

"After she left your house, she didn't go to the flower shop where she worked. I even went to the address where she told you her family stays and it was fake."

"Fake? ! "Eugene was stunned.

He turned to look at Tristan, his gaze oppressive.

"Also, there's no family with the last name, Smith leaving in that area."

"She lied about her last name as well? ! "

Who the hell did he marry?

A spy?

"She left with Jason King that night? Is there anything on him? "

"Jason King lives a very private life so it's hard to know if she's his lover or not."

Eugene was furious.

"How could he be so shameless? He stole my wife from me! "

"Technically, he didn't steal your wife, you guys are…"Tristan paused when he saw Eugene glaring at him.

He swallowed and didn't dare say another word.

Eugene couldn't forget the scene of that night, when Jason was so protective of Leah.

He wasn't sure why but he felt depressed.

His wife had always been quiet and dull. Jason was famous in their circle for being a ruthless billionaire.

How did she manage to get a man like Jason?

Eugene recalled the many times that Leah had said she loves him.

She was such a freaking liar!

The more he thought about Leah, the angrier he became.

His phone rang away. He shook his head and reached for it.

Jessica was calling.

"Hello, Jessica? "

"Eugene, I'm in your company's lobby. Can you come and bring me up. I made some snacks for you. I want you to try them right now." Jessica sounded excited but that somehow gave Eugene the irk.

"You're the lobby? "

There was not a trace of excitement in his voice.

"Yes, what is it? Do you not want to see me? "

"It's not that. I'll tell Tristan to come get you."With that, he ended the call.

His expression was dark.

He hadn't completed the divorce procedures with Leah so the news of his divorce hadn't been publicized yet.

Being seen with Jessica would caught unnecessary rumors and scandals.

Not that he was scared of anything, he just…

His thoughts were interrupted when someone barged into his office.

It was his grandfather and his father.

Eugene swallowed, nervously.

"You fool! What have you done? ! You got divorced? ! "

Eugene blinked."I…"

"Didn't I tell you that Leah's the best woman for you? She's lovely and kind? How could you let go of that kind of woman? ! "

Just then Jessica appeared at the door.

Grandpa Moore glared at her."Why is this woman here? Is she the reason you divorced Leah?"

The atmosphere was suffocating as Grandpa Moore pointed his cane at Eugene.

Jessica quietly remained outside.

"Are you a masochist? She's the one who didn't want you two years ago!"The old man thundered.

"Dad, calm down. ."Ezra patted his father's back while he glared at Eugene.

"Grandpa, don't you say that, Jess she never abandoned me, two years is what you..."

"EUGENE! "Ezra warned.

"No. It's time he knows the truth. I never accepted Leah at all, I only married her to protect Jessica. now that she's back, I can't fail her again!"

"Protect her? If I really wanted to screw her, she would have died without a word long ago!" The old man gritted his teeth.

He couldn't believe he wouldn't get to see Leah anymore.

She was like his own grandchild.

"Grandpa. I'm a grown man. You can't manipulate me anymore. Leah and I have signed the divorce papers and the other formalities will be resolved soon."

"You punk. You've made a big mistake! "Grandpa Moore was enraged.

When he got up, his vision blurred and he almost fainted.

Eugene quickly rushed forward and supported his grandfather but the old man pushed him away.

"Dad. They're not fully divorced yet. Please calm down. You just had heart surgery. You can't get excited like that."

Ezra was greatly worried about his father.

"D*mn it! Why? Why are you two so foolish, father and son! The new wife you found, Sarah, isn't a good person either! And now your son is going to marry her niece! Who on earth has cursed our family!"

Eugene stood there awkwardly while Ezra felt conflicted.

"Listen, both of you. Since the divorce proceedings haven't ended yet, bring her back! If you can't, then I'll stop taking my medications. As long as I'm alive, that damn Jessica won't set foot in our house!"

Grandpa Moore was like a child throwing tantrum.

"Eugene! Call Leah right now! I want to see her! "

"Grandpa, stop doing this again! Even if I call her to come see you, it won't change anything."

Eugene felt it was better his grandfather accepts it so he could get use to it.

With time, he would forget about Leah.

"My heart."Grandpa Moore began to twitch and he fell backwards.

Eugene and Ezra was both tensed by this.

One went to call the doctor while the other went to get his meds.

The scene was both chaotic and dramatic.

With no other choice, Eugene had to dial Leah's number.

"The number you have dialed does not exist."

Not only did Leah disappear but she also got rid of her number?

"D*mn it! "Eugene exclaimed.
