Chapter 4 CEO

The St Louis Villa was home to the King family.

The car stopped in front of the main door and Marcel came out to welcome his sister.

He held open the door for her.

"Welcome home, my princess."

Leah laughed, her delicate face looked even more stunning under the dazzling light.

"How have you been, Marcel? "

"Good. But I feel great now that you're back. Did you enjoy the fireworks? My birthday gift attracted the whole of the city center's attention. It's even trending on the internet."Marcel looked excited.

"Yeah. I saw it. I heard some say that it was probably from a tycoon trying to be romantic to his wife, some even say it was over the top."Leah let out, sarcastically.

Marcel ignored her sarcasm and hugged her, happily.

"Tell me you're staying for good this time and not abandoning us because of a man."

"Well, that didn't end well for me so no, I'm never doing that again."Leah patter her brother's back to comfort him."I'm sorry, guys. I wasted two years of my life. Broke the vow I made at the beginning."

Heaven knew how bitter and pained she felt right now but she was done crying.

She did her best to hold back from crying.

"It's not your fault! It's that asshole's fault! That baster, Eugene Moore. Who does he think he is? I am going to dug up any shit about him and I'll make sure he rots in jail for that."Marcel seethed.

Jason nodded in approval.

"Do not abuse your profession, Marcel."Leah cautioned, laughing."How can a prosecutor be so violent anyway, can't you be as peaceful as Jason? "

"Peaceful, my foot! Jason is not as peaceful as he seemed."

Jason eyed him and gave him the middle finger.

"Still, I won't forgive Eugene for this. He will always be on my radar."

"It's okay. Let's just forget about him." Leah said and then she walked into the house with her brothers.

She had greatly missed this house.

When the chairman of JK Group, Jerome King heard that his daughter was home, the happiness on his usually cold face was obvious.

He was so delighted to the point of pacing to and from in his study.

"Dad! I'm home."Leah walked into the study with Marcel and Jason.

As Leah walked into her father's study, she kicked away her heels and sat on the sofa, lazily.

This was unlike the gentle and virtuous attitude she showed at the Moores.

She didn't need to please anyone anymore. She just needed to be herself.

Jason also sat down and took his sister's slender legs, gentle giving her a massage.

"Girl, where are your manners? You still haven't given me a proper explanation about where you disappeared to for two years?"

Jerome deliberately maintained his straight face. Though he had greatly missed his daughter but he couldn't afford to show weakness.

This daughter of his always manages to piss him off.

"Dad, it shouldn't be shocking if I had gone somewhere to do some volunteering work."Leah snapped.

She saw something on the wall.

She stood up and walked closer to it. She was surprised to see that it was some posters she had made years ago.

She was not sure when her father found them but he had framed them on the wall.

[Can't you just focus on one woman? ! ]

[Better take care of your health or you might die of stroke! ]

[Please show yourself some respect. Thank you! ]

She had been furious when her father had gotten married for the third time and she had angrily written all these.

The King's family was well known because Jerome had four wives.

Leah always felt that going home was a betrayal to her mother, so she rarely visited home since starting college. She never expected her father and brothers to miss her so much. All the rude curses were even framed. The grievances of the past two years flooded her heart in an instant, causing her eyes to well up with tears. She quickly lowered her head to hide her emotions.

"After leaving home for years, the first thing you do is to snap at your father. What a good daughter I have."Jerome let out, sarcastically.

"Thank you, Daddy," Leah choked out a laugh. Her change in attitude left Jerome bewildered. Sensing the atmosphere easing, Jason took the opportunity to say what he wanted to say.

"Dad, now that Leah's here, I think we need to have this conversation."Jason announced as he put on Leah's shoes on for her.

Then, he said solemnly, "I will immediately relinquish the position of CEO of JK Group to Leah." Jerome paused for a moment, glanced at Leah, and saw the ambition in her eyes reminiscent of her former self. He nodded reassuringly, "Yes. This is what you've always wanted to do, Leah. Consider it a birthday gift from Dad."

Leah was somewhat shocked. She had thought that her two-year disappearance would make her father unwilling to trust her again, but she hadn't expected him to agree so readily.

Leah felt a pang of heartache. Despite her difficulty accepting her father's romantic life, he was still a good father who unconditionally trusted and loved her. Those loves she had always taken for granted had proven in the past two years to be difficult to obtain. She was incredibly lucky to receive so much love!

Jason, on the other hand, was the happiest person present. He almost jumped up in celebration. "Great! Finally facing those old men on the board!"

Jerome glared at him, coughed a few times, and then said, "You've got a point. The board may not accept it so easily. Leah, you need to prove yourself first."

Leah had anticipated this and replied firmly, "I understand, Father. On the way back, I reviewed the company's financial reports. The hotel business has been consistently losing money. Give me two months, and I am confident I can turn the losses into profits. Please trust me."

Both of her brothers placed their hands on her shoulders and nodded encouragingly.

Jerome also felt gratified. "Yes! This is my Girl!"
