Chapter 114

Lucian’s POV

“Do you want more?” I asked Selene.

“And I think you might want to slow down a bit Selene, the food is right here in this tent. No one's coming in to take it away from you.” She was taking in everything at a speed I feared greatly might end up requesting the presence of a healer.

She glared at me. “Are you mocking me, Lucian?”

I raised my hand in protest. “I wouldn't dare.” I thought to myself, I'm just trying to help, but I guess that's not how she sees it.

She nodded, as if content with my reaction. “Better.”

“And besides, what are you still doing here in my tent?” she added.

“Waiting to see if you'd want more,”

She scoffed. “I think I've had enough, thank you.” Her tone was polite, but I could sense the underlying tension.

I nodded, feeling a pang of awkwardness rose in my chest. Was this ever going to end?

“Alright, I'll leave you to rest then.” I stood up, my eyes meeting hers for a brief moment before I turned to leave.

As I stepped out of the tent, I w

CHAPTER 115SELENE'S POVAs I stood amidst the bustling activity of our pack's farm, my eyes couldn't help but wander to the figure of Lucian, his muscles rippling beneath his sleeveless shirt as he labored to construct the new greenhouse. The sun beat down upon his back, casting a sheen of sweat across his skin, and I felt a flutter in my chest, a sensation that I promptly suppressed with a surge of irritation. Why must I always find myself drawn to him, even after the argument we had just shared? And to make matters worse, he had teased me mercilessly about my appetite that morning, his eyes glinting with amusement as he watched me devour my meal with gusto. I hated that he could still affect me so, that he could still make me feel like a foolish, lovesick child.Determined to put Lucian from my mind, I threw myself into my work, focusing intently on the task of planting the new crops. The feel of the cool, damp soil between my fingers was calming, and I lost myself in the simp

Selena's POV Tonight's sky was breathtakingly mesmerizing! The twinkling stars in the clear sky were simply enthralling, coupled with the sharp chirping of crickets and the cool night breeze, it created an ambience that felt relaxing. Clear, cloudless nights like this were a dime in a dozen as most of the time clouds blotted out the sky. They were especially great for telling stories as they made the whole feeling more….immersive.Under one of the many Magnolia trees that littered the pack grounds an old man could be seen narrating a story to a bunch of kids. He was old Alfred one of the oldest members of the pack, once a great warrior an injury he received had made him feeble. Now he was a guardian of the younger generation guiding them forward.Clearing his throat he started his story. “ A very long time ago…”" How long ago pa Alfred?" One of the kids interrupted with a curious expression. " Hoho, long before even I was born, but let's get back to the story . So where

Selena's POV “After the interlude with Lucian I went to tend to the nightingale flowers. As the days went by they required more care which was a little bit tasking thus by the time I got home,I fell head first into the warm, cozy comfiness of my bed. I was having a weird dream where I was able to actually best Lucian in the training field! I really loved the surprised look on his face and was just about to tease him when a loud knock on my door jolted me out of my sweet dream. “Who was that now?" Grumbling,I grudgingly rose up from my bed with my eyes still heavy with sleep. Opening the door I was surprised to discover Lucian at the door. It was still early morning with the sky still dull. Heck, the sun was not even out yet! However, with one look I knew why he was here, dressed up in training gear he was here to call me out for my usual training. “Come in.” I said as I turned back inside but before I could go far he spoke up. “No need for that,I came her so that we can

SELENE'S POVAs I sat in my quarters, surrounded by the comforting scent of old books and the soft glow of candlelight, I was deeply engrossed in the pages of my worn leather-bound book of herb remedies, the intricate illustrations and detailed descriptions of various plants and their medicinal properties a soothing balm for my frazzled nerves. The sound of a gentle knock at the door broke the spell, and I looked up to see Donald, a member of our pack, standing in the entrance, a small, neatly wrapped package clutched in his hand. He smiled hesitantly, his eyes crinkling at the corners, as he approached me. "Selene, I brought you something," he said, his voice low and rough, as he held out the package. "I made it myself. It's a scent leg cream. I thought you might find it useful."I took the package from him, feeling a surge of gratitude and appreciation for his thoughtful gesture. "Thank you, Donald," I said, my voice sincere. "That's very kind of you." As I unwrapped the package,

Selene POV Lucian stood before me with a plate of food. His face was less grumpy and soft. I didn't know if he was acting or just being good to me for goodness sake."Here, eat this. You missed your lunch which shouldn't have been." He dropped the plate in front of me, his tone strict."I thought you promised to eat properly from now on? You shouldn't go back on your words, Selene. It is not good for your health to skip meals," he scolded."Did you come here to give me food or argue with me because I feel you came for the latter.""Don't turn this into a fight, Selene. You did wrong by skipping your meal. I have every right to be angry at you for neglecting what's important to you.""I didn't do it on purpose. It's not like I had a choice..." I defended myself but he cut me off with a slam on the table."You had a choice, Selene. We agreed that no matter what, you will stick to your eating routine for efficient training. Don't give me that excuse of not having a choice," he muttered

Lucian’s POV My eyes popped wide open, as I felt a sudden pang in my chest. Panting hurriedly, my eyes darted around curiously, as I placed my hands on my chest, I felt a painful zit in my wrist, which I had concluded was the reason for the sudden heart palpitation.Every limb in my body felt weak, and the room took a slow spin as perspiration trickled down my body, this was just a sign that it was time for me to get theirs and the final stone. For every day that I delay, I get a step closer to going rogue, and as much of the knowledge of my pitfall was laid down I could not leave without setting up a proper place for the pack. These and many more were my exact thoughts as I tried to stand up from the bed. My day was already planned and as I prepared to partake in it, something random crossed my mind. I had to bring carrots for Ella’s bunnies today, I mentally added it to my to-do list before leaving.A refreshing wave of air blew over me followed by the looks of a busy pack. There w

Selene’s POVI stared at myself in the mirror. The view of my belly protruding almost gave me a heart attack, it was almost two months, and I could already feel the bump.Gradually I rubbed my belly, as I stared at my reflection in the mirror, I glanced at my side view and how well it had grown in the past few days. I knew it was nothing more than pregnancy bloating, but it was something.I wouldn't be able to hide it after this month and after so much pondering, I have finally decided. He could do whatever he wanted after today but I wasn't going to keep it to myself anymore. So as I wore my garment, I took my plan that I had drawn for the farming project, and a little herb to help with the bloating and nausea before I walked outside, the view was as breathtaking as always.“Good morning healer?” “Good day Donald.” I responded to a pack member who had volunteered to assist with the weight I had on my shoulders, I gave it to him, and I searched eagerly for Lucian, it was already mid

Lucian’s POV I watched as she came out of her room, then headed toward the exit of the pack, still confused about her retaliation. I tried to call her back but she ignored me.Confusion settled in my heart as I tried to make sense out of it, but everything was out of place, why would she be angry if I knew she was pregnant? I never said anything about living her alone. I might hate my brother but his offspring had nothing to do with the hatred for him.I flexed my jaw again, her fingers on my face caused a whole new level of pain. Everything about her just had to be complicated each time, she was impossible.Or maybe these were just those little issues that came with pregnancy? How would I know? I leaned on the wall of my chambers, as I watched communicate with the people in the pack, totally disregarding my presence. The chef had mentioned that she woke up feeling sick, maybe she was having mood swings. She couldn't comprehend anything and must have expected me to be shocked, it was

Selene's POV“Don’t thank me yet,” he replied lightly, though there was a seriousness in his eyes that told me he’d seen more than I cared to admit. “Rest now, and when you’re ready, we can talk. But first, you need to recover.”I looked away, remembering the sharp, bitter taste of the wind and the haunting sound of those rogues’ voices. “I’m a rogue,” I repeated, as if to convince myself that I could still be the fierce, independent warrior I’d always been. “I don’t usually need help.”He paused, his hands still working over my wounds. “Maybe not,” he said softly. “But even rogues have scars that run deeper than the skin. Let me help you patch those up tonight.”I wanted to protest, to cling to the pride that had kept me isolated for so long, but the truth was undeniable. I was tired—physically and emotionally battered. And deep down, I knew that letting someone in wouldn’t make me weak; it would simply make me human. With a sigh that seemed to come from the depths of my soul, I nodd

Selene’s POVI lashed out with my free arm, slamming my elbow into my attacker’s ribs, and he grunted, loosening his grip on my wrist for just a heartbeat. The chaotic sounds of the forest—the relentless storm, snapping branches, and the harsh murmurs of the rogues—filled my ears. I scrambled backwards, my heart pounding hard enough that I could almost hear it. I knew I had to run. I couldn’t stay here and be caught by these desperate fools.I bolted through the underbrush, adrenaline pounding in my veins, each step fueled by fear and fury. My breath came in ragged gasps as I dashed blindly through the forest, blood seeping from fresh cuts and old bruises alike. I didn’t dare look back, though I could hear the snarls and angry shouts trailing me in the distance. The wind still whipped at me, unrelenting, and for a moment I thought it would sweep me off my feet entirely. Lilac said you wouldn’t leave your post.” His tone was gentle yet filled with concern.I clenched my jaw. “I need to think,” I replied, more to myself than to them. The burden of leadership, the betrayal, and the constant threat from Alex and his allies—it was too much. I didn’t know if I could shoulder it any longer. The wind roared again, as if to remind me that there was no escape from destiny. I turned to leave, but then I paused. The pack’s eyes, filled with hope and desperation, held me in place. Their silent pleas for guidance, for reassurance, weighed heavily on me. I couldn’t abandon them—not when they needed me most.My mind was a storm of conflicting emotions. Anger, sorrow, and a deep-seated guilt churned inside me.
