Chapter 15

Zayden 

    Grabbing her hand, I dragged her forcefully away from that piece of trash. I despise her interactions with Aiden, it makes my blood boil. 

" Let go of me !" She tried freeing herself from my grip, but I wasn't going to stop till we were away from the crowd. 

  I dragged her upstairs and onto the balcony of the hall.

I finally let go of her hand, watching as she fumed.

"What is wrong with you !" She yelled freeing herself from my grip.

" I'm going to say this once ". I told her taking a step closer."Stay away from my brother !" 

She snorted." It's none of your business who I associate with ". 

I gritted my teeth." You are my secretary, not his; you are only allowed to spend nothing more than three minutes in his company". 

Crossing her hands over her chest, she flipped her hair over her shoulder." Care to explain why ?" 

"Because I said so !" 

She snickered, turning to leave." I'd rather keep company with someone who doesn't have anger issues"

I grabbed her wrist, irritation visible on my face." Don't you fucking go against me!". 

"Aww, Mr Kent using the curse word. Unfortunately, I'm just your secretary; you can't tell me what to do !" 

My grip tightened on her wrist without me even realising.

She groaned." Let go !" 

"I'm warning you, Mrs Ace. Stay away from him !" 

"Or what? You're going to tie me or lock me up somewhere?" 

I smirked. "Yes, preferably my bedroom ". 

I stayed long enough to watch her cheeks turn red and her pretty blue eyes dilate. 

  I walked hastily back into the hall to catch sight of Aiden displaying smirking at me. Whatever he was up to, I won't let him get away with it. 

        

    I returned to my seat, waiting impatiently for Sage to finish her interview after which we'll go see my father. 

    As much as I wanted to avoid Aiden, my father called for us and included Sage. I already knew what he wanted to discuss with us, me especially. 

    Sage finished and came to sit beside me. " What was that about?" 

I feigned ignorance. " What?" 

" The charade with your secretary? In case you didn't notice, all eyes were on you as you dragged that woman towards the stairs ". 

"So? When did I care about what people think ". 

She sighed." You just gave the press another topic to gossip about. You looked like a jealous boyfriend ". 

I stood up, ignoring her comment. I don't care what people think as long as Aiden stays away from anything or anyone involved with me. 

"Let's go. My father wants to speak with me, and you're included ". 

She grasped." Really? " 

I nodded. 

She kept squealing as we got to the car, it was annoying but I maintained a straight face.

  It was about an hour's drive to my father's penthouse, and hopefully, I shouldn't spend up to an hour there. I left Mrs Ace at the conference. I should get back before the event ends, and then I'll drive her to the company. 

   Aidens car was already in the garage. We took the elevator and went to the top floor. 

  My father was sitting casually on the couch, reading a newspaper. Aiden was messing with the keys on the piano creating an awful tone. He stopped as soon as he noticed my presence.

" Take a seat, son," my father said. 

Sage ran over to him, giving him a tight hug." Mr Kent, it's been so long". 

He laughed, letting her sit beside him. " It's been just six months " 

She pouted." That's a long time ".

I sighed, looking over to the walk clock." Can we please get this over with ". 

My father gave me a stern look." This gathering is for you, Zayden". 

Not like I wasn't already aware. 

"Here I was thinking it was something important " Aiden snorted.  

I ignored his comment. " Is there an issue ?"

"Yes, you're twenty-eight zay; when are you going to grace me with grandchildren?" 

I rolled my eyes. This topic was getting old, my father had wanted me to get married since I was eighteen.

"I'll get married when I want to, Dad".

Aiden snickered." Seems to me like no one wants to end up with you ". 

"Well, I do !" Sage squeaked.

"You are deranged just like him, but that's a perfect match. What do you say, Father? We could start the wedding preparations ". Aiden chuckled, obviously trying to annoy me.

 I kept my anger in check. Usually, I would have punched him by now, but my dad and Sage were here. 

My father sighed." Zayden, if you are interested in sage then that's good enough for me. We could...."

"I'm not .." I cut him off ." I'll get married when I want to ".

"I've given you enough time; make your decision after the launch of your project. Remember, your position depends on it ". 

I finally snapped."what does marriage have to do with my position, haven't I proven myself enough!" 

"Give it up, Dad, he's not going to fulfil your wish. Give the company over to me; I'll get married in an hour ". Aiden bragged.

I gritted my teeth, waiting for my father to speak. The last thing I'll do is let Aiden take over all I've worked hard for.

   I had been the CEO since I was 18; I'd rather let the company go into extinction than hand it over to him.

"I've made my decision, either you get married after the launch, or it's Aiden's turn to take the lead ". 

"You'd rather let this incompetent jerk inherit the company?" 

He sighed, creasing his brows ." It's pretty simple. You and Sage have liked each other for a long time, right? Why not make it official?" 

Sage nodded her head in agreement." I don't mind spending the rest of my life with you ".

I clenched my fists, trying to steady my breathing. I should leave or I might end up unleashing the devil within.
