"I am fine, I swear," Lyra softly said as she held onto the cold bottle of water that Dame gave her.

Dame and Zin helped Lyra back to her room, trying to make sure she didn't trip or stumble. The two had secretly followed the girls at the bar earlier to check on what they were going to do and to keep them safe as well. At the beginning, they could see that the three were all having a good time, but then later on, they could tell that Lyra progressively became more heated. As they were driving back to the hotel, they could hear how the woman talked badly about those people that she saw inside the bar. She laughed at how they looked, made fun of the way they talked, and dissed some people’s clothes. All the mean things that she said were the total opposite of who they knew her as, and everyone thought that their friend was just really drunk and not aware of what she was talking about.

However, Lyra was totally fine. She did not drink much, she did not fall or vomit, and she was okay.

Lyra woke up the next morning at the hotel feeling the throbbing pain in her head, as if her skull were being cracked open like an egg shell. Last night was a shitshow, and she did not expect it to turn out like it did. It is what it is; she knows that she has done a lot of things that did not really feel right to do, but she has already done them. There is no turning back. All she has to do now is wish and pray that it was all worth it. She woke up and did what she always does first thing in the morning since Derrick left. She slowly tapped on the bed, the empty space beside her, checking to see if it was occupied by the magical being at last, then she would sigh, sensing that he wasn't there yet. He is still away. He’s still gone."I kind of feel the need to drink alcohol already," she whispered to herself as soon as she confirmed that Derrick was not with her. As she opened her eyes, she saw the beautiful design of the hotel’s ceiling and sighed for another time. "I forgot that I w

"I also have prepared some cucumber juice; it's in the fridge, nice and refreshing!" Zin said as he sat down on the couch. "You should grab a glass; it's going to get you replenished, especially after driving for quite some time."Dame watched Zin closely; he glared at his friend, his eyes searching for any sign of deception."Right, right," he responded, nodding. "What else do you want to tell me?""Oh man, you are right! I also made some sandwiches; do you want me to heat them up for you?""Zin, come on, are you kidding me?""No way!" Zin chuckled. "Of course I really made sandwiches! Why would I joke about that?""Just tell me already!"He had seen him vanish into thin air the night before, and he knew that he was hiding something from him and Lyra. He needed to find out what it was. It's making him lose his mind."What are you talking about?""Zin! We both know what happened, alright?" He began, his voice calm and collected. "I am not dumb enough to just follow along with your act

Lyra had already returned to her room, thinking that she might as well use the day to get some rest and take one sleeping pill to help her out with it. But as soon as she was about to, she realized that her cup was empty. That made her irritably stand up and walk back down the stairs to the kitchen. But when she came back down to the living room, she found Dame and Zin there, deep in conversation.Assuming that it was just casual talk, Lyra started to walk past them, not minding what the two had been talking about. They did not seem to notice her walking past, and she did not think much of it until she overheard something that caught her attention. It was about Zin disappearing into thin air, and Lyra couldn't help but stop and listen in. It was a story that she did not hear from Dame. After pressing him for the entire morning, this seemed to be Lyra's only chance to get a glimpse of what really happened, so she did not miss it.As she listened to their conversation, Lyra's shock and

Zin couldn't bear to see Lyra in so much pain, and he knew that he had to come clean about his past. He took a deep breath and approached Lyra, his eyes downcast."Miss Lyra, I have something to tell you," he said, his voice trembling. "Something that I've been keeping from you for a long time. Something that even my master doesn't know about. I think this is time for you to hear."Lyra looked at him, her eyes still red from crying. "What is it?" she asked.Zin took another deep breath and began to speak. "Centuries ago, I was a demon with a cursed ability," he said. "My tongue had powers, and I could whisper bad thoughts to humans. Making them follow what I wish them to do I used to enjoy causing chaos and destruction because, as you know, we gain power through evil deeds. I started to abuse my powers as a dumb new demon who knew nothing better.""What does this have to do with Derrick?""I first met him as a human being," Zin shared.Lyra looked at him, confused. "Derrick?" she repe

Lyra sat alone in her room, tears streaming down her face as she recalled everything that Zin told her—the story of Derrick's past. A revelation that she never expected to get but something that really broke her. She had always known that her husband had a troubled past; after talking about it for quite some time, she was able to guess how tough it had been for him, but hearing it in such detail was almost too much to bear. When Zin explained how Derrick had been a mortal man, deeply in love with Elira, the woman he first cared about, his first wife, her heart ached. At first, she thought that it was jealousy. Maybe because the man she loves the most was actually in love with a different woman, the way Zin told the story about them made her believe that his feelings for her exceed the borders of hell. But instead of jealousy, she felt more empathetic. She felt bad for what Derrick went through and for what their end was. She felt bad because of what happened to his past life. And a sl

Lyra woke up from her dream, her cheeks wet with tears. For a moment, she lay there in the darkness, trying to catch her breath and make sense of what had just happened."Derrick," she whispered, looking around the empty room.As she came back to reality, Lyra couldn't help but wonder if the dream was real, if she had really been standing on that mountain with Derrick, wrapped in his warm embrace. It had felt so vivid and real, and yet she knew that it was just a dream. She wiped away her tears, trying to shake off the lingering emotions that the dream had left behind. It had been a beautiful moment, but it had also stirred up a lot of complicated feelings for her.It kept replaying in her mind, how Derrick responded to her questions. Derrick told her the truth about how he was surprised at first when he saw her. She has the same face as his wife, the same voice, and the same characteristics. But he also claimed that he was able to see the differences. He saw how Lyra really is; he lo

Rhian and Raine sat across from each other in their restaurant, their usual chatter subdued as they both kept a watchful eye on their friend, Lyra, who sat alone at a nearby table, lost in thought. "Something's definitely off with Lyra," Rhian said, her brow furrowed with concern. "She's been acting really strange for the past few days." Raine nodded, sipping her drink thoughtfully. "I know. I've noticed it too. She's been so distant and quiet, like she's not really here with us." Rhian leaned forward, her eyes fixed on Lyra's slumped figure. "Do you think it has something to do with Derrick?" Raine shrugged. "It's possible. I know that he’s going to be stuck abroad for quite some time. Zin had told me that he needed to handle a lot more business-related things there. Maybe she was just worried. Or she might be missing him again; you know, he’s also failing to message her often." Rhian grimaced. "Yeah, that's a tough pill to swallow. But Lyra and Derrick have been through so much

To Derrick, hell was a desolate wasteland, an endless expanse of fire and nothingness that stretched out in every direction. The sky was a roiling mass of dark clouds floating in the black space, lit by the occasional flash of lightning that illuminated the twisted landscape. In the distance, he could hear the screams of the damned, the tortured cries of those who had been condemned to an eternity of suffering. It's always been that way. As the Devil, he ruled over this realm of darkness, but it brought him no joy. This had been the same thing that he saw for almost forever, but as days went by, he felt the intensity of the punishment that was given to him. Now it is working for sure; he's suffering; he did not want to be there, but what else could he do?He was consumed by a sense of emptiness, a loneliness that gnawed at him day and night. Days go by; evil thoughts keep floating around his brain, making him hate them even more, but he still has to be there. He can only be in the dar

"It’s already seven; where is she?""I swear, Zin, they told me that they would be home immediately; they were just in the restaurant; what would take them so long? They can walk from there to here and it will only take an hour.""I think we should have followed Miss Lyra around as well," Zin replied to Dame. "It is much more difficult for us to take good care of her when we are still focused on the office job. It’s going to risk her life even more. We made a really bad decision; I am already calling it." Zin bit his lips and sat back down on the couch, looking out of the window to see the exact moment that the security people and Lyra would arrive back home. "I think it’s better if we just tell her exactly whats happening. It could really be the best option, but we ignored it like a psycho and chose the risky approach.""I know that trusting other people for Miss Lyra’s safety is a little bad for us to do, but it’s a matter that should be stopped by humans, right?" "It’s been fine," Lyra happily smiled as she spoke with her friend, Rhian. "I know that you two might think that I am lying, but I swear, I am doing a lot better this week. I am trying my best to have my best life.""I know you are really worried because of your relationship with Derrick; Zin has already told me that," Raine joined in as she placed two huge bowls of shaved ice dessert on the table. "He had told me that the two of you had a really bad fight. He asked us to be extra nice to you because you are really sad about it.""Yeah," Lyra lied. "But we were able to talk it out.""Of course, nothing will be resolved when you put time and effort into communicating your real feelings and your true emotions. It’s really great to hear!"Lyra nodded once again. She was not able to tell her friends that everything they were talking about right now were thoughts and pieces of information that appeared out of nowhere. Dame and Zin had informed Lyra one week ago that there was a rumor roami

"Dame!" Zin rushed inside the mansion with sweat dripping from his forehead. He saw how Dame’s eyes grew big in surprise, and before he could even say anything to him, Zin had already snatched his cold beer and chugged it right in front of him. "What happened to you?" Dame looked around, checking whether there was someone chasing after Zin. However, aside from the beautiful and calm view of the pool behind him, there was nothing. "Why do you look like that?" Is there someone chasing after you? Are you in trouble?" "I don’t think I was being chased," Zin said. Dame rolled his eyes when he answered. "Then why do you have to come in here as if you were about to die or something? You stressed me out within the few seconds that you arrived." He grabbed the bottle of beer from Zin’s hand and took a sip from it as if claiming what was his. "What’s wrong with you then? Were you able to visit Master?" "I did," Zin answered, sitting beside Dame. "I actually did a lot more than that, and I r

As Zin soared higher in the darkened sky, he marveled at the view before him. The borders of hell and earth were marked by a jagged line of jagged rocks that extended as far as the eye could see. The air was thick with the stench of sulfur, and the sky was a deep shade of crimson that seemed to bleed into the horizon. In the distance, he could see the dark silhouettes of mountains rising up against the fiery sky and the occasional flicker of flames dancing in the abyss. It was a desolate and terrifying landscape, but one that Zin had grown accustomed to over the years. As a demon of hell, he had traveled to the borders many times, but this time felt different, and he couldn't shake the feeling that something was about to go horribly wrong. Going closer to the edge, he felt tightness in his chest. It's always been this way whenever he flew closer to crossing the borders. He could already feel the breeze coming from the land of the living, but his gut feeling seemed to have won that tim

Elvis sat in his grand office, surrounded by opulence and extravagance. The room was adorned with expensive paintings and rare collectibles, but the air was thick with tension. Wendy, his best partner in crime, sat across from him, her face set in a deep frown. The only sound in the room was the soft ticking of a gold-plated clock on the mantle. Despite the grandeur of the room, there was a sense of foreboding that seemed to permeate every inch of the space. Both knew that they were treading dangerous waters with their plan to bring down Lyra, and the tension between them was palpable.Elvis sat across from Wendy in his office, his eyes locked on hers as he pitched his latest plan."Wendy, I need you on this one," he said, his voice low and urgent."What's the plan, Elvis?" Wendy asked, crossing her arms."We need to bring Lyra down," he said, leaning forward in his seat. Dame was surprised to find Lyra sitting alone in the dark living room with no lights on. He had brought lots of food back to the mansion, hoping to lift her spirits, but seeing her like this made him worried. It was really bad timing that Zin decided to try and go back down to hell that night. Dame could tell, just by the vibes that had hit him straight on, that he wouldn't know how to deal with Lyra like that."Miss Lyra, are you okay?" he asked, placing the bags of food on the coffee table in front of her. He wanted to kick himself in the face. The look in her eyes is the perfect tell that she is not doing alright, but he still chose to ask, just to make her feel bad that it shows. "You know what, let me just get the lights; don’t even bother," he whispered before walking directly to the switch.Lyra looked up at him, her eyes red and puffy from crying. "You are already back?" she asked, confused as she watched the leaves outside the window dance. "It’s already dark outside," she sa

A black bird flew into Derrick's shoulder as he was calmly watching over the newly appointed demons in his realm. As soon as he was able to look into its eyes, his mouth fell wide open, and his jaw hit the floor beneath him. He won't be able to forget those eyes, and he would never forget how Zin looks when he's in his real form.Immediately, Derrick stood up to snap his fingers in the air, and without waiting for another second, they were inside a dark room. Derrick's own little space whenever he wanted to stay out of everyone's sight. His only hiding spot from all the demons that would often try to bombard him with a bunch of questions or sometimes the yells of those souls who were being punished."What are you doing here?" he immediately asked. Right before his eyes, he watched as Zin transformed into his human form to hug him. "Zin, is there something going on? Why are you back here? You crossed the borders again?""Master, it doesn't matter right now," he said, still clinging on

Derrick paced back and forth on his desolate throne in hell, tormented by the images and thoughts invading his mind. He kept seeing Lyra, his beloved wife, surrounded by sinister figures and cloaked in shadows. The more he tried to push the visions away, the more they persisted. Even if he knew that he'd only bring chaos into Lyra's life, he found out that he wouldn't be able to give it up that quickly. Especially after he spent an entire month's worth of time in hell reminiscing about the moments they had together."My dear, please be safe out there," he whispered, wishing that it was only the thoughts in his head that kept on messing him up and not real visions or premonitions of what was happening or what was supposed to come for Lyra in the land of the living. If that was the case and he's stuck down in the depths of nothingness, he will for sure not be able to move forward. He is afraid of what he might end up doing just to stop that."I do not need much," he stated. "I only need

Lyra sat at the breakfast table, pushing her food around with her fork as Zin and Dame bid her farewell. "We'll be back as soon as we can, Miss Lyra," Zin said, giving her a reassuring smile. "Take care of yourself," Dame added, placing a hand on Lyra's shoulder. "If you need anything, just call us." Lyra forced a small smile. "Thanks, guys. I'll be fine. I just need some rest, that's all." Zin and Dame exchanged a worried glance before Zin spoke up. "Are you sure you don't want us to stay? We can handle the hotel issues later." Lyra shook her head. "No, it's fine. You guys go ahead. I'll take care of myself." As they gathered their things and made their way out of the mansion, Lyra was left alone with her thoughts. She couldn't shake the conversation she had with Lucifer out of her head, and the more she thought about it, the more uneasy she felt. "I can't believe he would do something like that," she muttered to herself, her voice barely above a whisper. "Why would he want to
