Chapter 10: Black shadow

Seven o 'clock in the morning.

Sam sat in a chair in their classroom as she waited for her friend Claire to arrive. Almost all of her classmates were already in her seat. Their teacher hadn't arrived at that time.

"What could have happened to Claire, why can't she have it yet." Sam asked herself.

She looked at Claire's chair and she was sad that her friend was gone. She preferred to keep quiet to one side while watching her classmates talk. She felt the cold of those times even though it was sunny and there was no wind blowing too much. Later, her classmates approached her. A group of men approached her.

"Hi Sam, it looks like your friend isn't coming in." Said a man with a mischievous smile.

Samantha couldn't look at them so she just bowed.

"How about Claire get in? The tricycle they were riding had an accident yesterday. They talked about falling into the ravine." Narration of another.

Sam was shocked to hear so she stood up.

"What did you say?" Sam asked with wide eyes at the bad news she had heard.

"Sorry Sam, Claire is gone." Another student replied who heard what they were talking about.

"No ..! She can't die." Sam shouted until she burst into tears.

Her classmates felt guilty for bothered her.

"Sorry Claire ..." A student apologizes for what happened to Claire.

Their teacher came and they were all stunned.

"Okay class..sit down." Teacher said.

One student stood up and asked their teacher.

"Teacher, is it true that the accident happened to Claire?" Student question.

Sam looked at the behavior of a student who asked a question but their teacher also did not know what had happened. Their class had already started and everyone was listening to their teacher while Sam peered out the window he saw the tree house outside the classroom.

"Claire ..., I hope what I heard isn't true." Sam thought.

She was surprised to see the black shadow in the tree house.

"What is the shadow doing here?" Sam whispered.

The black shadow has long lived in the tree house. Sam didn’t know that the black shadow she saw in the tree house and the black shadow in their house were different. The black shadow in the tree house was so bad. While Sam was looking at the black shadow in the tree house, suddenly one of her classmates passed by her so she lost sight of the black shadow.

"I'm sorry I can't answer your question? I don't know yet." Their teacher said.

Suddenly the bell rang.

"Class, it's break. You can go out and buy something to eat." Their teacher said.

Sam's classmates came out happily. Sam also went out and went to the library and spent time there.

"Psstt ... psssst .." Sam heard. She looked around her. She noticed that the students there were also busy reading so she was surprised. The cold wind blew in her place and she was suddenly terrified. Sam got up from her seat to pick up another book. Their library is also large and spacious so when she was looking for a book to read, she was alone in the middle part of the library where there were no people.

She felt a pain in her neck so she grabbed her neck and caressed it. When she found a book, someone grabbed her by the shoulder from behind. She was scared at those times and her eyes widened in shock when someone grabbed her shoulder. She slowly turned her back and saw her friend's Claire. Clear looks good wearing their uniform as well. She breathed a sigh of relief to see the friend.

"Hayyss ..., you scared me Claire." Sam said and she smiled.

Claire didn't say a word for those moments. They have not yet left the central part of the library.

"Claire, how are you? I don't know what happened to you so you didn't come in today." Sam asked.

"I'm okay." Claire said.

"Claire you're pale." Sam asked.

Claire didn't say a word again.

"We're in the reading area." Sam said.

When Sam sat down she never saw Claire again so she stood up and looked around the library. She can't call Claire because it's forbidden to make noise in the library. She just looked for Claire in the part she came from earlier but Claire was not there.

“Where did Clear go?” Sam asked with astonishment.

"Ting ... Ting ... Ting ..." The bell rang and Sam had to go back to their classroom.

Sadly Samantha went to their room. She looked again at the tree house as she entered and sat down in her chair.

"Hi Sam ....!" A male classmate greeted her and looked at Sam.

The man who approached her was handsome and white -skinned. It is also tall and has a nice smile. It sat in Claire's chair.

"Hi ....," Sam replied.

Her male classmate was staring at her.

"Why are you staring like that?" Sam asked in astonishment.

"I just want to see your beautiful face."  Said the man with a mischievous smile.

Later, a female classmate approached and grabbed the man by the shoulder.

"Vence, don't bother Sam." Said a woman named Pamela.

Sam just bowed during those hours.

"I'm not bothering Sam." Said Vence.

"What are you doing here if you're not bothering her, huh?" Pamela asked.

Pamela removed its grip on Vence's shoulder.

"Don't make fun of Vence, Sam." Pamela said to Sam and it left.

Sam was quiet during those hours while Vence remained in his seat.

"Sam, can we go home together later?" Vence asked.

“I’m sorry, my daddy will pick me up." Sam replied.

"Is that so." Vence was sad.

There are a few feelings that Vence has been feeling since they just started class. He always looked at Sam until Sam fell in love with Claire. Vence was still embarrassed when he approached Sam so he didn't try to talk to the girl. Vence was the son of a wealthy couple and his only child.

"Vence ....!" A man calls.

Vence looked at the man who called him and he approached him.

"Oh, what's the matter?" Vence asked.

Sam looked at him.

"Sam's friend Claire, was confirmed dead. Claire was hit in the head when they fell into the ravine. The driver and another tricycle rider who also did not survive were involved in the accident." Narration of the man.

Vence looked at Sam sadly.

"Don't let Sam know first and I'll tell her." Vence said.

"It's up to you Vence. Looks like you're worried about Sam, huh." The man said again with a mischievous smile.

"Shut up." Vence said.

Vence walked over to Sam again but Pamela stopped him.

"Vence wait, where are you going? Are you going to Sam again?" Pamela said disgusted and even held Vence's hand.

"None of your business where I want to go." Vence said seriously.

Vence removed Pamela's hand that was holding his hand.

"Hmmmp.!" Pamela was annoyed.

She has been in love with Vence for a long time but Vence ignore's her. Pamela is beautiful but she has jealousy so Vence is annoyed with her for acting like they are both a couple.

Vence went to Sam again and suddenly their teacher came. Vence hurried to sit in Claire's chair and their class began.

"Class, get your english book." A teacher said.

Everyone was busy listening to their teacher's lesson while Sam was uneasy that Vence was behind her.

"Vence can you stay away from me." Sam said.

"I don't want to." Vence replied.

Sam was speechless so she decided to continue writing in her notebook. They are copying what their teacher writes on the board.

"Sam, I'll tell you something later." Vence said but Sam didn't hear him.

"What are you saying there?" Sam asked.

“Ah, I said I’ll tell you something later." Vence replied.

"Why later? Tell me right now." Sam asked again.

Their class ended in the middle of their conversation.

"Okay class, tomorrow we'll just continue writing and we don't have time." Their teacher said.

Everyone was happy to have finished their class. One by one everyone went out and Sam and Vence were caught. Pamela saw them so she felt jealous.

"Vence, let's go home together." Pamela suddenly stepped to their side and grabbed his big arm.

"Don't go with me Pam, you get it. Let me go!" Vence said seriously to Pamela.

"Why are you like that to me, huh, Vence?" Pam is irritated because Vence doesn't pay attention to her.

Sam looked at them before walking away. Vence chased after Sam.

"Samantha ... wait ..!" Vence calls.

" What do you need, Vence?" Sam asked.

" I have something to tell you." Vence said seriously.

"Say what you want to say to me." Sam said disgusted.

"Please, don't be upset because I just want to let you know that your friend Claire is confirmed dead. The tricycle she was riding had an accident and they fell into the ravine, Claire's head was hit which caused her death. Claire was bloody and the two with her were spotted by rescuers. " Vence recounts what happened to Claire.

Sam's whole body weakened and she couldn't believe what she heard.

"No, that's not true. I talked to her earlier at the library. How come she's dead, huh, how did that happen?" Sam just cried during those hours.

"It's true what I'm telling you." Vence said and he hugged Sam.

Sam just cried on Vence's shoulder.

Sam suddenly felt cold so she hugged vince as well.

"Hey Vence! What are you doing?" Pamela said angrily as she approached them.

Vence looked at Pamela and Sam let go of Vince's embrace.

"What is it Pam? Don't be immature there." Vence said seriouly.

"Huh, I'm still really immature. Admit it to me Vince. Do you like Samantha?" Pamela asked.

"What is it to you if I like her." Vence replied.

Pam had nothing to say at that moment.

Sam was just quietly to one side while Pam and Vince talked.

While Sam was waiting for her father she first thought of going to the bathroom but everything was closed except for the bathroom near in the tree house. She couldn't control herself anymore and she was really urinating during those hours. She walked towards the bathroom and Vince noticed her so Vince followed to her. There are a few more students to be found around the school. She had already run to the bathroom and she no longer ignored things.

When she came to the bathroom, she went straight inside. When she entered, she passed a mirror where her friend appeared but she did not notice. Vince was waiting outside the bathroom. While waiting for Sam to come out Vince sees a black shadow coming out of the tree house hut and Vince pretends he can’t see the black shadow.

"It's time for Sam to come out." Vince whispered.

Vince is also engrossed in waiting for Sam outside. Sam hadn't finished urinating when she heard someone enter the other door. There are four bathrooms there. Sam just continued to urinate and when she finished, the light suddenly went turn on and off.

"Who's there? Don't play with the light please ..!" Said Sam.

When she opened the door she saw the black shadow in the mirror. Her whole body trembled at the sight of the black shadow. She felt a mixture of nervousness and fear at that moment. She slowly walked out but Sam stopped to see Claire near the door, her other head cracked and bloody.

"Ahhhhhhh .......!" She shouted loudly in extreme fear.

Vince heard Sam scream so he immediately went inside. He saw Sam sitting and her hands covering her eyes.

"Sam what happened to you!" Vince asked.

Sam looked at her crying in extreme fear.

Sam hugged him and after a while Vince helped Sam stand up.

When they came out of the bathroom, a strong wind suddenly blew so Vince grabbed Sam by the shoulder and they went to the school gate. Sam was silent as she walked with Vince and there was still a trace of fear on Sam's face.

They were at the school gate at that time and waiting for their pick -up. Sam's father came with her mommy. Sam was no longer able to say goodbye to her classmates because she hadn’t been very close to them especially Vence. She immediately got into the car. Vence and Pam looked at her from the window. Sam leaned back in her seat.
