AUTHOR'S POV.Elena walked down the long hallway, flipping through a thick file in her hands. Arthur had been making decisions without her again, and it frustrated her. She was supposed to be part of these discussions, yet here she was, finding out things from documents instead of Arthur himself. She was so focused on reading that she didn’t see someone coming. Before she could react…BAM!Elena crashed into another person, and the file slipped from her fingers. Papers scattered across the polished floor. She inhaled sharply, already annoyed before she even saw who it was.Jennifer.Of course.Jennifer barely stumbled, fixing her hair like nothing had happened. She smirked. “Watch where you’re going, Elena.”Elena scoffed, rolling her eyes. “You ran into me.”Jennifer’s eyes flickered to the mess of papers on the ground. She made a clicking sound with her tongue. “Tsk. Clumsy.”Elena inhaled deeply, staring at the papers on the floor, she looked up at Jennifer with a glare. “They won'
Ava's POVMy mother’s hand clamped onto my wrist the moment Elena disappeared down the hallway. Her grip was firm—too firm.“Elena was lying,” she said, her voice laced with pleas. “She just wants to turn you against me.”I yanked my arm away, taking in deep breaths. “You know mother, I have been meaning to actually talk to you and thank goodness I finally get you today…you have been absent from your main duties you claimed to want to do that's why you move in and more present in Arthur's life…everything Arthur has been doing is in your favor…from making you an elder…a top elder and making you oversee some important works in the Luna's house…sometimes overruling mine,* I spat, my breath heavy. “C'mon you are just overreacting,” she laughed. “There is nothing wrong with Arthur seeing potential, Ava, just focus on your baby.”Potential? Was she even listening to herself?“Fine,Then tell me why Arthur would make you the highest elder in the council.” My voice was steady, but my heart w
Arthur’s POVCharles stood in my office, his fists pressing into my desk. His face was tight with frustration, his voice sharp like a blade.“You are selfish, Arthur,” he growled. “I can’t believe you let Jennifer take a position in the council. Have you lost your mind?”Yes, I still haven't told him and I had to fight with my wolf constantly, suppressing the urge to kill Jennifer. Not only was she now an Elder, she was pushing her luck too far, she had successfully divided the council, some supporting her while others against me. Yet, each time I tried to warn Jennifer about it, she goes on to remind me of Ava, threatening me to tell Ava everything. I still can't believe I was being threatened and I had to fucking deal with the fact that Ava was carrying a devil Alpha. This has never happened in centuries, the ancestors were right…the devil Alpha was a predator on its own, it hunts down things that might threaten it. How am I supposed to kill my own child? I couldn't bring mysel
Ava’s POVEarlier that day. I was still in my room, my face buried in my hands, I still can't believe I slapped my mother and I didn't feel any remorse. But to be honest it wasn't my fault, she was acting like a bitch who just walked out of a high school movie. She had completely changed and I wonder if she actually came to the Luna's house to take care of me or to take over the pack. Lady Eleanor's warning sounded in my head. My stomach twisted in fear. I didn't want to believe that my mother was the villain here, she was so kind and caring but now, she went as far as reminding me that I was an impure wolf, I was nothing. I stared at my belly, my hand on it, the usual faint smile on a mother touching her bump was replaced by fear. The child was far gone, if we had known earlier we might have killed the child. Could we?“Luna Ava,” a maid called walking in, a tray in her hands. “Tea from your mother,” she revealed, setting down the tray on the table.I scoffed loudly, looking
Ava’s POVI stared at Arthur, my palm still stinging from the slap I had just given him. My chest rose and fell with every shaky breath, my anger barely contained. His eyes burned with rage as he turned to glare at Elena.“How could you?” He growled, through gritted teeth. “Don't look at her,” I spat, anger flaring up my veins. “Look at me and tell me all that she said was a lie…you knew from the beginning this child would destroy you, didn't you?”Arthur froze for a while, his eyes flashed with relief but was quickly masked by rage. “You had no right to tell her, Elena,” Charles snapped. “You have broken his trust.”I scoffed loudly, pulling my hair in frustration. “His trust? I eyed. “The only trust broken here is mine.”“Ava,” Arthur called softly, reaching for my hand but I moved my hands away. “I didn't know he was a devil Alpha,” he defended. “Yeah,” I nodded. “You finding out was a confirmation that what I was carrying will make me a widow,” I spat.“I didn't want to be wor
AUTHOR'S POV.Elena stormed out of the room, her heels clicking against the stone floor. Her hands were clenched into fists, her mind racing. She needed to act fast. If Arthur was planning to lock the child's power away, then she had to make sure that never happened. She reached the dark hallway where Oliver was waiting. His tall figure leaned against the wall, his arms crossed. His sharp blue eyes watched her closely. She turned to him with a frown. “Just because you have a new face doesn't mean you can just walk around the way you want, this is the palace.”He shrugged. “No one will find out about it if you don't tell me,” he scoffed. “I guide my own room.”“Just be careful,” she growled, looking back at the door. “Did Arthur request your presence?”He shook his head. “But I have to report to him on something.”“What's that?” Elena questioned.“It can wait,” he shrugged, taking in deep breaths, placing his hands in his pockets. “Well?” he asked. “How did your meeting go.”Elena sig
Ava’s POVThe moon was high in the night sky, its pale light making the trees cast long shadows around the clearing. The air was cold that it made my blood dry and my heart pounded so hard it felt like it might break out of my chest. My hands and feet were tied with thick ropes, holding me down on a hard stone. The fabric of my thin dress did nothing to keep out the chill, but the cold was the least of my worries…not like wearing thick clothes will have stopped the ritual but I didn't have time to dress, I just wanted to be done with this. I inhaled deeply, scanning my eyes around the people that were present, this was going to be my last time I will see them hopefully not. I couldn't even tell my mother about this but clearly she must have heard about it, there was nothing that could get past her. Anna was the only one I was sure wasn't aware of my self righteous sacrifice. I knew she would never agree to this but I had to do it to save Arthur. I only hope Arthur knows how much
Ava’s POV“Arthur!”I heard Amelia's voice loudly in the cold nightI couldn’t see anything. My eyes had shut, my body heavy and weak. But I felt it immediately, something changed. A loud crack was heard…something… someone had struck Arthur. His grip on me loosened, and I fell hard onto the cold ground.I gasped, my lungs fighting for air. My head spun, but I forced my eyes open. Through the haze, I saw everyone struggling to help in one way or the other. Arthur had turned away from me, his focus now on Amelia and Charles. They stood together, their body tense, ready to fight.“Stay down, Ava,” Charles growled. His sharp claws extended, his wolf instincts kicking in.I wanted to obey, but my body shook as I pushed myself up on my elbows. My heart pounded as Arthur walked toward them, his glowing red eyes locked onto them like a predator about to strike.“Arthur,” I muttered, knowing he couldn't hear me but I continued anyway. “Arthur,” I pleaded again. “Please stop.”My pleas mean
Ava’s POVI sat in the hospital waiting room, tapping my fingers against my lap. My heart is hammering loudly in my chest. I was about to commit the first murder in my life and my child was the first victim.Amelia sat beside me, her arms crossed and her expression unreadable."Are you sure about this, Ava?" she asked for what felt like the hundredth time.I inhaled deeply. "Yes, Amelia. I’ve thought about it. It’s the only way."She turned to face me fully, her piercing gaze making me uncomfortable. "And what are you going to tell Arthur if he finds out? Do you realize that you want to kill the child of the devil Alpha, the next heir to the throne? I'm not sure death is enough punishment for you if they decide to punish you.”“Please don't make me look like a bad person,” I frowned. “I am doing this for everyone, do you think the child would be happy to know that he killed his father?”Before she could respond, the door swung open, and a doctor in his mid-fifties walked in, adjustin
Ava’s POV“Luna Ava! Luna Ava!! Luna Ava!!!” I heard my name, but my brain wasn't registering the name. “Ava,” Miya touched me, gently. I jolted up, my eyes widened in fear as I scanned the environment. We were back at the Luna's estate already and I wasn't aware. “Are you alright ma'am,” the driver said, looking at me through the mirror. I turned to him, touching my flushed cheeks. I was so deep in thought that I didn't even realize when we left the palace or when we got to the Luna's house. I forced a smile, grabbing my purse. I turned to Miya. “Welcome back Miya.”She smiled faintly, as I pulled her out of the car. Miya’s small hand clung tightly to mine. She didn’t say much, but I could feel her curiosity as her wide eyes studied the large estate. Poor girl wouldn't be able to look at the estate without remembering the one who brought her up. But this was her home, she had to come back. “Ava!”I turned at the familiar voice.Amelia stood by the entrance, waving at us, she t
Arthur’s POVElena ran as fast as she could, but I was faster. She tried to take the next turn but I caught up to her, grabbing her arm and spun her around. Before she could scream, I shoved her against the cold stone wall. The impact made her gasp, her wide eyes staring up at me in terror.“Elena,” I said, gripping her wrist tightly. “You’ve been avoiding me.”Her chest rose and fell quickly, panic making her breath shaky. “Let go of me Arthur,” she growled, her eyes filled with venom. I scoffed, leaning closer. “Haven't always wanted to be close to me?”“Not close to this beast, I know who you are,” she whispered.I tilted my head, smirking. “Do you?”Her lips trembled, but she didn’t look away. “I know you are fully synced with your devil Alpha now.”“I wasn't hiding that from you,” I shrugged. “How can I hide it from a seer, you must have seen it before it happened–” I paused studying her reaction. “You didn't see it, did you?”She swallowed hard, flickering her eyes away. I chu
AVA'S POVThe palace loomed before me, its towering spires stretching into the cloudy sky. As the car came to a halt in the grand courtyard, I let out a quiet sigh. I had much to do today, more than I was ready for.Arthur turned to me, his golden eyes scanning my face. “You seem stressed already,” he chuckled.I turned to him. I had completely forgotten that we were in the same car. “I have a lot on my mind,” I admitted, taking a deep breath. His lips curled into a small smirk. “Nothing you can’t handle.”He reached out, brushing a strand of hair behind my ear. It was a small gesture, but it sent a shiver down my spine. My lips curled into a small smile, as my mind slowly drifted to last night, my screams overshadowing my heartbeat as he banged me hard. If babies could keep their memories of when they were in the womb, my son will have a lot of complaints to make. And the dick poking part was one of many tales to be told, that's if the baby survives. “I’ll see you tonight,” he mu
AVA'S POV. It has been three days since the incident happened, My mother was recovering quickly all thanks to Elizabeth. Everything was returning to normal, almost. Arthur has been acting strange lately. I actually liked the change but something about it made a cold shiver run down my spine each time I thought of it. Arthur has been present. He actually sleeps in the same room with me and sleeps on the same bed with me, I couldn't tell if he was doing it because he felt guilty for almost killing me or something had changed in him. But whatever it was, I wasn't comfortable with this change. I tried to see Elena to find out what she meant that the prophecy had changed but all my efforts to see proved futile, more like she was avoiding me. I leaned on the wall, staring at the moon, the cool night breeze brushing over my face, the faint howl of wolves heard in the distance. I inhaled deeply, crossing my hands under my breasts, letting my thoughts wander around Arthur, my hand plac
Arthur’s POVA dull ache throbbed at the back of my skull as my eyes fluttered open. The ceiling above me was familiar. I was in my room. I turned my head, and the turn made me groan. Sleeping beside me, was Elena. Her long, dark hair fell over her face.“Elena?” I managed to mutter, my vision blurry due to the excruciating pain in my head. She shook slightly, her brows furrowing before her eyes snapped open. At first, she looked confused, but the moment she realized that I was awake, her lips curled into a faint smile, her face flickered to relief. “Arthur,” she said, her voice filled with tears. Before I could react, she threw her arms around my neck, her tears falling on my shoulder. “You are alive,” she cried. “I thought I killed you.”I hesitated, my hands hovering over her back before finally settling there. “I'm fine,” I chuckled but my voice was filled with pain.“Elena… What happened? Why am I here?”She pulled back just enough to meet my gaze, her lips pressing into a
