AVA'S POV.

I sat in the living room, the weight of my thoughts pressing heavily on my chest. The faint scent of lavender from the diffuser did little to soothe my nerves.

My mother sat across from me, staring at me, I had to beg Arthur to let my mother see me, he was taking this house arrest a bit too far.

I had a lot on my mind, I had no choice than to call for my mother, we haven't spoken since our fight, She always had a way of seeing through me, peeling away every mask I tried to wear.

“I’m worried about Arthur,” I admitted softly, my fingers twisting the hem of my sweater. “He’s changed… and no one will tell me what’s going on.”

Her brow furrowed slightly, and a flash of concern crossed her face. “Changed how?” she asked.

I paused, searching for the right words. I couldn't say he was distant, it was more like he was bolder and I kind of like it but I couldn't help but feel he was holding back something very important.

“I don't know mother,” I frowned, tilting my head to the

Ava's POVI sat on the porch, the cool breeze brushing against my skin as the scent of flowers filled my lungs, as I admired the garden…or at least I should have been enjoying it. A faint silver glow from the crescent moon cast shadows on the empty garden. My mother's words kept playing in my head, my mind clouded with unsettling thoughts. I kept telling myself that he had nothing to do with this, that they were just the works of rogues but I couldn't shake the feeling off, that something about him was different. It wasn't like I knew him well enough and I couldn't have known him fully just by having sex with him. Why do I feel uneasy? Is it something I should be worried about?I had called him, asking him to see me as soon as he had time…but I knew that wasn't going to happen any time soon. He wouldn’t be coming right away. “What is going on?” I muttered under my breath. I placed my hand on my stomach, a faint smile playing on my lips as I rubbed my hand through on my belly.

Ava’s POVElizabeth held onto me tightly as we hurried up the stairs. My stomach felt like it was on fire, the sharp pain making it hard to breathe. “You’re going to be okay, Ava. Just keep breathing,” Elizabeth said, though I could see the fear in her eyes.“I don’t know what’s happening,” I whispered, my voice shaky. I felt weak and my legs hurt with each step but Elizabeth held me tightly, guiding me into my room and laid me down on the bed.“Will I lose my baby?* I cried watching the blood flow freely down my legs. “Please I don't want to lose my baby.”“You’ll be fine,” she said again, but it sounded like she was trying to convince herself more than me.She quickly got to work, inspecting me, her lips pressed into a thin line. The door burst open with a loud bang. Arthur stormed in, his golden eyes glowing with anger. “What happened?” he demanded, his deep voice making it sound more scary. His gaze moved between me and Elizabeth, narrowing dangerously on her.“It’s lupine poison

Ava's POVIt had been almost a month since the poisoning incident, and things were finally beginning to feel normal again. Elizabeth had gradually become a friend, I can't really explain the comfort her presence brought me but I felt happy each time she was around. My mother, however, was the opposite, constantly watching me, treating me like glass. I appreciated her care, but it was kinda hard. Anna visited often, her parents were not really in support of her visiting the palace, they were among the witches that still didn't agree with the unity between wolves and witches…but in a good way, they just didn't like Anna around them, so Anna's visit were always brief and she always had her mother constantly calling so we talked only a little.Arthur on his part has been acting really strange, I didn't get the chance to even talk to him, he completely avoided me like I was some pest, sometimes I couldn't help but wonder if it was the sex we had that drifted us apart. I was tired of th

Arthur’s POVI stood frozen, Ava’s trembling voice echoing in my ears. The report dangled from her hands, her wide, tear-streaked eyes cutting straight through me.I swallowed hard, my mind drawing a blank, I have been avoiding her after I found out that I killed her parents. Now she knew about her parents' past. I turned to Charles, my piercing glare made him flinch, he avoided my eyes. This was all his fault. I had already asked Charles to get rid of it, if he hadn't been delaying it, this wouldn't have happened. “How could you?” she whispered, her tone a mix of betrayal and despair. “All this time… you knew.”I wanted to at least defend myself but the words lodged in my throat. How could I tell her the truth, knowing it would shatter her completely? How could I admit that her parents’ deaths were my fault?“I said I want the truth!” she screamed, her hands trembling as she threw the report onto my desk.“Ava, listen…”“I just want the truth,” She shouted. “You have been avoidi

AUTHOR'S POV. Arthur turned to Charles and Amelia, after pacing around the room for a long time. “What the fuck just happened?” He asked, rhetorically and resumed his pacing. Finally, he stopped in front of Charles, his eyes blazing with rage.“This is all your fault, Charles. I told you to destroy that report, but you delayed it. And now Ava knows everything,” Arthur spat. Charles met Arthur’s accusing glare, his eyes flickered his eyes away, swallowing hard.“I didn’t think she would come across it so soon. Besides, let’s be honest…this truth was going to come out eventually.”Arthur let out a sharp sigh, gripping the edge of his table.“I don't think you understand, She’s never going to forgive me for killing her parents, She’s going to look at me and see nothing but a monster.”Charles stepped closer. “Arthur, you didn’t know back then, you were in beast mode, the Alpha wolf killed them not you, Stop blaming yourself for something you didn’t have control over.”Amelia scoffed, sh

Arthur's POVThe night was quiet, too quiet. The only sounds I could hear were the rustling leaves and the distant howls of wolves. My heart was heavy, my mind restless.I needed space to think, I couldn't bear it anymore, I have been avoiding Ava for so long that rumors started spreading very fast in Luna's estate that I was scared of Ava…which was actually kind of true. I left the palace without telling Amelia or Charles. I needed to see Elena. Elena was the perfect person for this job, she was always the kind of person that I could rely on when making tough decisions, she was raw and saw beyond both sides. We haven't talked since I almost choked her, almost as though she has been avoiding me. I had to apologize for that night first.I arrived at Elena's house, packed the car in the front yard, I got down from the car, slammed the door and rushed up her pouch. I took in deep breaths before ringing the doorbell. It creaked open immediately. Elena stood there, her green eyes sha

Her face was filled with rage, her eyes filled with venom as she smoldered at the thin air. “Fuck”, she screamed, pulling her hair and slammed her fists hard on the table again.Oliver flinched slightly, though he quickly masked it with a smirk. The witch walked in, darting from Oliver to Elena. “What was so important that you had to see me?” She frowned, walking closer and dropped her bag on the table.“I had to find a stupid excuse to leave work, so you better have a good reason to pull me out of what I was doing,” she eyed, taking her seat. Elena scoffed, staring at her in disbelief, suddenly she burst into a mockingly laughter. “Are you crazy?” She snapped. “Having tea with your mistress isn't as important as this.”The witch shrugged, acting indifferently. “You planted me there, it's not like I enjoy the mansions anyway but you said, get close to Ava by all means

The ancestors’ words echoed in my mind, a storm raging inside me."You must kill Ava."The anger flaring up choking me, My chest tightened as if an invisible force had wrapped itself around my ribs, squeezing the air out of my lungs. My hands trembled against the wheels table, knuckles turning white, finally I came to a stop, slamming my hand on the honk. “Fuck,” I screamed. What was happening to me? Why should I kill Ava? Why does it have to be the first woman I fell in love with? Was this some kind of punishment? My mind slowly darting back to the impure wolves I had killed in the past, could this be the cause of their vengeful souls?“Kill Ava?” I muttered, shaking my head. I couldn't do it.But could I ignore a prophecy from the ancestors? My mind slowly drifted back to my last conversation with Elena last night. "You heard them, did

Ava’s pov. The morning sun filtered through the curtains, casting a warm glow across the room. I slowly woke up, my body sinking into the soft mattress. I turned my head and saw Arthur sitting at the edge of the bed, cradling our son in his arms, a small smile playing on his lips as he held the child's fingers. “I think you are only doing this so he can make you his favourite when he grows up,” I said. He turns to me with a smile. “You’re awake,” he said gently, meeting my gaze.I nodded and pushed myself up slowly. My body ached, but compared to everything we had been through, this pain was nothing. It has been months now after the war, everything was slowly going back to normal, except the fact that impure wolves can now live freely. Jennifer was arrested but couldn't bear the fact that after years of planning, she failed not just to an enemy but to an impure wolf, she could take that shame, so she killed herself. Arthur carefully placed our baby in my arms. I looked down at

Arthur’s POVA cold wind howled across the empty desert as I opened my eyes, sand swirling around me like ghosts whispering in the night. I sat up, blinking my eyes against the dim, eerie glow of the horizon. “Am I dead?” I muttered to myself as I stood up. This was the same desert I was the other time, was I really dead. No, I can't be dead, at least not now, Ava needs my help. I turned around, looking for a place to go but if I remember correctly, this place was like an endless maze. A shuffling sound caught my attention, so I turned immediately. A woman appeared, her long cloak dancing in the wind, her silver eyes glowing like twin moons. She was the same woman I met here.“You again,” I murmured, stepping closer. “What is this? Have I died… again?”She smiled. “You are not dead, Arthur.”“Then what is this place?” I demanded, scanning the endless stretch of sand.“The space between life and death, except that you aren't here as a lost soul but as a redeemed soul,” she said, st

I tried to move, but my wrists were tied behind my back and ankles tied together with thick chains.I lifted my head, and my breath hitched immediately, we were surrounded by Jennifer's men. Dorian lay on the ground a few feet away, his face bloodied, as he tried to get up but couldn't. Dozens of our warriors stood behind us, their hands tied, their eyes filled with fear. “Amelia,” I whispered. She slowly turned to me. “Ava, are you okay?” She asked, her voice weak as she glanced around. “What happened?” I asked her, swallowing hard, keeping my voice low. “We were defeated but I thought Arthur said you should leave, what are you still doing here?” She questioned.I shook my head, the memories of what happened flooded back. “We were going through the back with Dorian but they ambushed us, it was like they were waiting for us.”“Shit, Dor

Arthur spat on the floor. "You can never win Oliver, you should have just stayed dead," Arthur growled, holding his side.“Really?” Oliver smirked. “Do you really think you can beat me?”“I beat you twice, there is no harm in making it the third.”Oliver chuckled, his eyes filled with amusement. “I do admit you have defeated me, even more than thrice but not again brother, the witches saw my worth that's why they brought me back—” Arthur c

Arthur’s POVWe all sat in the war room, with a few head sentinels, everyone looked tense, some looked afraid, who wouldn't be? This was supposed to be the biggest war of the centuries, one that would decide our fate. Dorian moved to the shelf picking out some maps and threw them on the table. “This is the complete map of my palace.”Charles stepped forward, spreading the maps. “Don't you think it's a stupid move for Jennifer to attack a palace she knows nothing about? She has no idea the layout structure—” Dorian cuts him off.“Are you seriously suggesting there is a mole in my palace?” He frowned. “Yes, I do think there might be a mole in this palace, but it's not your fault, most of our people turned on us.”I nodded, my fingers tracing the structure of the palace on the map. “There are a lot of hiding places that we can use to ambush them, what's this place?” I asked, pointing at a location on the map. “It's an escape route,” he replied, looking at me. “But only I have the key.

Author’s POVAmelia stood in the middle of a broken house, her heart pounding loudly as the wind rushed through the empty stone walls, carrying the smell of damp earth and the past. This was the house she used to live with her family before Arthur killed her parents. She had decided to come here one last time and see her sister, the only family she had left, Elizabet. Elizabeth was standing right in front of her, Amelia didn’t know what to say or how to feel, she just stared at her. Elizabeth looked the same and different at the same time. Her dark hair was longer and her eyes looked more cold. She wore a black cloak that covered every part of her body, the only thing that wasn't covered was her head and that was because her cloud was down. “Amelia,” Elizabeth said. Amelia swallowed hard, taking a small step forward. “Elizabeth,” she muttered, almost to herself. For a long moment, none of them spoke, They just stared at each other. “You look well,” Elizabeth finally said, her

He had the look of a man who wouldn’t take no for an answer.“Again,” he said firmly.I groaned, wiping sweat from my forehead. My body ached from hours of training. “Arthur, we’ve been at this forever.”He didn’t budge. “And we’ll keep going until you get it right.”Frustration bubbled inside me. “I don’t even know what I’m doing. How am I supposed to control something I don’t understand?”“Then you need to understand what is inside you,” he said firmly. I rolled my eyes. “What is inside me then?” I shrugged. He hummed, nodding his head in agreement. “Then let's start with that, because there is no way you can control something you don't know.”“Seriously,” I groaned. More lessons again. “Can't we just cut some slack? I'm seriously tired, I need rest.”“Rest?” He scoffed. “You can only get rest if you are ready to wake up in a dungeon full of rouges.”My lips curled into a smirk. “I

The pain was almost unbearable, I can't believe this was what my victims had to pass through before they died.
